_However, it makes sense to try to increase average time users spent on website. If a user spends more time on a page that simply means that the visitor is finding the page interesting. Catchy headlines, well written content, use of high quality images, videos etc can go a long way to make visitors spend a few more seconds on the page. On the other hand, if you make the body content appear meaningless by stuffing too many keywords, add cheesy stock images or boring images, add thin content and make the page heavy with loads of images, visitors will bounce back for certain. Hope that helps. _

RE: For SEO Purposes, What is a Good Website Builder?
_Do not take it otherwise, personally I would prefer to hire a website designer because when you are using website builder chances are there it may lack the professional touches. _

RE: Link Exchange
_Just wait for the big [upcoming] penguin update and I hope that these sites will be torched. You are not along who is seeing worthless sites ranking high in competitive terms. There are hundreds and thousands sites with spammy link profiles still ranking high. Hopefully, they will get caught by algo updates soon. _

RE: Re-direction concerns
_As long as the domains are somewhat related and as long as you are not redirecting hundreds and thousands of them, you are safe. It is quite common practice. For say, if you have a domain like this – http://www.example.com , you can always buy the following domains - http://www.example.org , http://www.example.net , http://www.example.me etc. However, if you are buying domains which are thinly related to your website and then getting then redirected after building tons of links to then, it could be a trouble for your website in the long run. _

RE: Are Links/Resources pages considered spam?
_Ok, here I am assuming that you are sending mails to high quality sites with the hope of getting your website listed legitimately there and you hope that this initiative will drive some traffic and add credibility to your brand. I do not take it a worrying trend because you are not spamming the web with exact matched anchor text or trolling gov sites with comment spams. However, if the Gov sites are asking to return the favor in exchange of some kind of link back, in that case, it could be something to worry about. Now, if you are still worried, you can simply use rel nofollow tag against the link. _

Two things I would like to point out:
Majority of pages have little or no content
Adsense ad is juxtaposed with the body content -
RE: Are no follows leaking link juice?
Well as far as I know nofollow does not pass any PR juice. And please check this post -

In general, we don't follow them. **This means that Google does not transfer PageRank or anchor text across these links. **
I hope you have got your answer.

RE: Duplicate content vs. less content
_I am assuming that you are referring internal duplicate content issue. In that case, I would rather suggest you to fix them by adding canonical or by adding noindex Meta data or by specifying some rules in robots.txt file. No need to remove the forum if it is adding value to user experience. However, if you feel that your forum is getting ruled by spammers and trolls, you should take down the whole thing. I hope that it would do good to your website in the long run. _

RE: Redirection Effects on Sub Domain
Umm a bit complicated.. From the users’ perspective, it would look strange if the Site A gets redirected to Site B but the sub-domains do not. And from search engine’s perspective, I do not think, it will be the right thing to do. Say for Blogger.com. If Blogger.com gets penalized or starts losing traffic, it will have far reaching impacts on its sub domains as well. So, it will be great if you redirect the sub domains as well.
BUT remember, when you are doing 301 direction, you are in fact carrying the legacy of the past domain. That means the new domains will enjoy all the link juice, authority and at the same time, if the website has been penalized, the new domain will also come under scanner.
_So before you make the decision, you need think about this. _

yes, this is what I choose to believe because as you know in the dynamic world of SEO, there is no such thing as ultimate answer.

RE: Local Personal training studio needs SEO advice. Is directory submission they way forwards?
No, paid links go against Google’s guidelines and your website will get deindexed for that.
Here are the few things that you can do -
1. Get your website listed in Google Places
2. Add a link back to Google Listing Page from your website
3. Get listed in some high quality local listing sites
4. Use microformat code for presenting contact information in the footer section of the websiteAnd no idea why you are addressing the same user agents twice
User-agent: *
Disallow: /go/
# End Link Mask Generator output
User-agent: *
Disallow: /wp-admin/
Disallow: /wp-includes/

RE: Article/ Blog Post submissions
_Again I would like to say that your approach toward guest blogging is not correct. Guest blogging is not a hit and run thing. Do not be in such rush to get articles published in sites that accept guest posts. And who said that no-followed links do not add any value? You should not believe Google all the time
Take it this way. You need to treat it as a way to promote your brand. So hire the best writer and prepare a killer content or you can hire a professional graphic designer and create a killer infographic whatever it suits your purpose._
And I do not wish to play wise here. So, here is the ultimate resource:

RE: Abused seo unintentionally, now need a way out
_I have checked some of the posts of the Home page and I see certain patterns and this is quite predictable:
1. Most of the posts are basically complication of images already available in other sites. Though the content is unique, the images are nothing new.
2. I have found two content heavy posts in the home page and what I believe that they are guest posts. Now, guest blogging is great but what I mean to say is that you should not be too dependent on guest blogging here. You need to come up with two or three posts [I prefer content heavy posts] before__3. Seems like you are publishing reviews. Make sure if these reviews are paid, you should be adding no follow tag against them. Though it is the linked sites that should be penalized for this, I prefer to be safe than sorry.
I know this may sound a bit harsh. I hope you would not mind. _

RE: Does the root domain hold more power then an inner page?
Ok there has been some kind of confusion regarding my earlier statement. This was what I meant to say – Say a site -
http://www.example.com – main service is website design and the focus is on “Web Design”
http://www.example.com/webdesign.php - service page_Now, let us imagine for a second, we are not building any links. In that case, what I believe and I have observed that home is going to get a bit preference in the SERP. _
-
RE: Does the root domain hold more power then an inner page?
_Definitely home page carries the most SEO weight. And what I believe is that chances are that home page of a website will has the maximum chances of earning links than internal pages unless you are offering some cool stuffs in the Internal pages. If you ask my opinion, I would be targeting the most competitive term in the Home page rather than an internal page. _
-
RE: Insights about Google penalties?
_There is no such tool to locate low quality links. You need to check them manually. You should not be obsessed with the PR of the website rather you should be focusing on other things like the Quality of the website, quality of the articles getting posted there, interaction, presence on social media sites etc. And of course, if you believe that your website has got penalized by search engines, you need to get rid of spammy links like low quality bookmarking sites, directories, article directories etc. _

RE: About robots.txt for resolve Duplicate content
Yeah, you are right, the Disallow tag is correct. However, if you are not feeling confident enough, you can try it in Google Webmaster Tools. Go to “Health” > “Blocked URLs”. Then make changes in the robots.txt file and test the pages.
_And there is no such thing as priority. If you blocked a page via robots and use "index, follow" as Meta tag, it will get blocked and also if you do not block the page via robots.txt but use "noindex, nofollow", it will still get blocked. _

RE: While doing directory submission, We should submit unique description and title ?
_Again I do not like the approach. It seems like you are in a hurry to get as many links from different websites as quickly as possible. Do not treat link building that way. Take it as an attempt to gain exposure and believe me it is time consuming. For say, to get your website approved by Dmoz.org, you might have to wait for 6 to 8 months on an average. Moreover, instant approved directories are not that great as spammers mostly troll there. So, hold the horse. Prepare a list of niche and quality directories and then approach them. _
-
RE: How many directory submission per day we have to do ?
_Eternal dilemma of an SEO professional. Since you are there to build links, you have to think about building links and this is exactly where the problem creeps in. Rather take a different approach here. Think like a general user. Would you love to see your website listed in that directory? Do you believe that that the directory in question would be able to drive some traffic to your website? If the answer is yes, go ahead mate. Get your website listed there. Google or no Google, your website is going to get benefited at the end. _

RE: Banner Ads Without Getting Penalised?
Adding no follow link is great to make sure that your website does not get penalized, how if you are too worried about it, you can create a separate landing page for it and get it blocked via robots.txt file.
Here is what google says -
http://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=66356
Note that PPC (pay-per-click) advertising links that don’t pass PageRank to the buyer of the ad do not violate our guidelines. You can prevent PageRank from passing in several ways, such as:
- Adding a rel="nofollow" attribute to the
<a></a>
<a> tag</a>
<a>* Redirecting the links to an intermediate page that is blocked from search engines with a robots.txt file</a>

RE: How long does it take for spam link building to take effect?
_Valid question as it seems. But there is no straight forward answer. If you ask any Google representative about this, he/she would suggest you flag the website. However, I have personally tried this but what it appeared to me that it never worked. It is a vicious circle. Google releases algo change > sites get panelized > webmasters find loophole > spam sites start gaining on ranking. _

RE: Site Wide Title Tag Discussion

RE: Leverage other peoples author rank for your site?

RE: Duplicate content by php id,page=... problem
Since you have said that you cannot modify the PHP code, you can use the following tag in robots.txt file to stop search engine from indexing the pages -
Disallow: /?mod=*
However, make sure that other pages are not getting blocked by it.

RE: Does anybody do directory submissions anymore?
_Directory submissions are not waste of time. I do not see any such reason why I should not be interested in getting my website listed in Dmoz since chances are there that the listed website will be managed to drive some traffic through it. Just do not overdo this. And do not try to manipulate the algo by submitting your website is meaningless directories and with exact anchor texts. Thankfully those days are gone. _

RE: Geo Targeting SEO Techniques for Google UK
_Get a physical address in the UK and use microformat code to represent the Contact details. Try to get your website listed in Google Places. Try to write some blog posts concentrating on the regional interest related to your industry. I am sure about this, but if you can manage to woo some leading and UK based writers write some posts for your websites [I mean as a guest writer with their verified G+ profile] can help you gain some tractions. _

RE: Questionable SEO
Yes I can understand the pain and frustrations of yours. Same thing happens with me when my clients show me sites that are doing all sort of spammy link building things and ranking high. It is like have fun until you get caught. What I believe is that the purpose of penguin update is to punish low quality websites that do not deserve to be on the top, but are still enjoying top ranking because of some questionable back links. So, I would rather suggest you to hold on to your patience because there is no point in making your website vulnerable to Google’s algo update.

RE: Is there a problem here - lots of backlinks from subdomains
_Seems like the website is just another listing site. I do not think sites like of these types are going to add any value to your website. So, if you feel that links coming from this site is affecting the visibility of your website in one way or the other, you can ask the webmaster to add no follow attribute against the links or remove it completely. But before you decide to remove the links, you need to check the analytics account to see if you are getting any referral traffic from the website. So, adding no follow attribute would be a safe bet. _
-
RE: Please let me know if I have bad backlinks...
_In have checked some of the back links of yours and seems like most of them are coming from low quality directories. Though directories are not bad necessarily, you need to put a cap on the number. There are some reference of forum, but could not figure it out whether they are the spammy signature links or natural links coming from them. And the most important thing, are you using exact matched keywords while building links. You need to bring some varieties in the process of earning links. Just do not make the whole process too predictable. _
-
RE: Value in content from website being shared across social media?
_Yeah it is perfectly fine sharing great content in social channel. And there is no as such need to rewrite them as to make them appear unique. Search Engines are well aware of this and it is perfectly natural. And it will not be considered as active unless the post starts getting Likes, Shares, Tweets, Retweets, Google Pluses from other members. _
-
RE: Unoriginal Content Shared By Web Firm with Industry Niche
_First of all, no need to submit reconsideration request if the content of the website is duplicate. Panda is an algorithmic penalty and therefore, there is no such need of sending reconsideration request, as it is applicable only for manual penalty.
However, what I have assumed from your post is that you are concerned about the duplicate content thing. Yes, it is a matter of concern. Try to rewrite them and wait for Google to index them and your website will be okay._
_However, if someone else is copying your content, there is no reason to be worried about. The sites that are copying your content will be penalized and not the other way round. _
-
RE: Does a blog appearing in diff. categories cause duplicate content?
_Yes it creates internal duplicate content because the same content/article is accessible via different paths and therefore, search engine might find it confusing to determine which page deserves to get visibility in the SERP. So, you need to add noindex, follow Meta tag in the category and tag pages so that these internal duplicate pages do not get indexed by search engines. _

RE: Guest Blogging - Home Page PR0
_If I were you, I would not concern about the PR. I would concern about the quality of the website. I would like to check the quality of the articles getting published there, number of social shares they are getting, number of comments per posts and other things. If the blog looks like a part of a blog network and is heavily dependent on guest bloggers, I will think twice before accepting the offer of guest blogging. _
Otherwise it is perfectly Okay.
-
RE: How a press release can help with Google serp?
_Press Release as a means to get back link if that what you are referring, I would say it is a bad idea. The idea of writing a press release is to share some news worthy article with your targeted audience. Ask yourself even if badly written and not so news worthy PR manages to secure top ranks in Google News, would that help your company impress your targeted readers? I do not think so. Rather it will leave a bad taste in the mouth so, the purpose of launching a press release will be lost. So, rather than focusing on the link coming from the press release website, you need to treat it as a powerful tool to reach out to your targeted audience and make them aware of the products or service you are going to launch. _
-
RE: Removing a sitewide backlink without damaging the domain
_Ok let us assume that Site A has got sitewide link from Site B and Site B has decided to remove that link. Now, if he is concerned about passing PR juice, he can apply no follow tag against the link. I think this is the most logical approach while getting links from blog roll. Site A is not going to lose any referral traffic and it is kinda safe from Penguin refreshes which are primarily targeting sitewide links.
Yes, I have removed sitewide links for one my websites and to be honest, there has some visibility loss but I managed to make up for the loss by earning some quality links for the website. _
-
RE: Could getting referral traffic from SEO moz damage your rankings?
_No way. This will act just the way robots.txt works. It will discard the links coming from the website or pages that you think affecting the visibility of your website. This is certainly not going to affect the websites that you are going to Disavow. However, if a significant number of people are disavowing those websites and flagging them as low quality, it may create some issues for those sites. However, this does not mean that if a website gets disavowed by two or three people, Google will penalize it. _
-
RE: Google truncating or altering meta title - affect rankings?
I have a site that the title tag is too long and the title is simply the name of the site (I think they get it from ODP, not sure)
Now if you believe that it is the ODP that is causing the trouble, you can add this Meta tag in the section of the pages -
However, if this has not been the case, it could be that the links that have been built are not in line with the existing title. And sometimes, Google changes the title itself if it feels that the title is not well optimized –

RE: Multiple 301 Redirects for the Same Page
_If you are redirecting Site A to Site B to Site C and finally to Site D, I it is highly unlikely that the link juice and authority of Site A will be passed onto Site D. Moreover, it will increase page loading time significantly and it is certainly not adding any value to users’ experience. If the purpose is not to lose a single visitor, you can get them redirected to final website individually.
Site A 301 to Site D
Site B 301 to Site D
Site C 301 to Site DLet me know what you think about this. _

Prefetching and prerendering, should I include both?
Chrome supports prerendering whereas Firefox supports prefetching. So, can i include both of them to speed up the performance of the website in Chrome and Firefox? Is the below code right?
