I would have to agree. If you keep to a single domain, you don't have to spread your budget and effort out between other domains. Any piece of content you create can then, possibly, influence your entire domain.

RE: Installing WordPress on a site OR just adding a blog page on the site - Which one is better and why ?
Hi Vikas_Rana
This will depend on who is going to be managing the site. Installing Wordpress throughout your domain is ideal because everything is there already. All the tools and plugins are available in a heart beat.
Some admins prefer to use pure HTML websites because they can customize it according to how they want it, but it does require a little more effort and development ability.

RE: How to devide Google traffic into local google traffic (.com , .uk , .cn etc) in Analytics
I'm sorry, I wish I could help with that but I have never seen these stats available on Google analytics

RE: How to devide Google traffic into local google traffic (.com , .uk , .cn etc) in Analytics
Hi Boson
If you go to Overview > Demographics > Location and then choose the "Source" as your secondary dimension, you will be able to see which search traffic is from which country. I'm not sure how to tell which search engine they were using but more than likely they will be using their local one.
I hope this helps

RE: Are on-page optimization tools becoming outdated?
I'm referring to on-page checkers that our clients are using to check for themselves (including SEOmoz's one), and it gets very difficult to explain to them why the tool isn't the most accurate. In the end it looks like we're not doing our job.

Are on-page optimization tools becoming outdated?
So from what I've noticed, Google is using a lot of semantics in their algorithm. When it comes to using a tool to determine on-page, keyword/phrase factors, most on-page optimization tools check exact matches and give you a rating and suggestion based on that. What about synonyms and "natural", related terms?
My question is, are these tools becoming more inaccurate by not using semantic/synonym checks?

RE: CDN Servers
Thanks for your reply. That makes a lot of sense. Had various people telling me conflicting things.

CDN Servers
Will using CDN servers, where your website is synced (cached?) across multiple servers, have an effect on the SEO of your domain?

RE: A backlinks question
The anchor text from your link profile, will never penalize you. It might not be as great as a keyword based anchor text but it doesn't have a negative impact. On the other side, if you have 80% of your link's anchor text saying "blue 1980 aged cheese", Google will see that something's not right and you will not get the value that you would from a natural link profile.
If the links are genuine and are inbound from genuine websites and not link farms or spam sites, you should be fine. Penguin is about penalizing black hat tactics, for example, buying links from link farms.

RE: Subdomains
In my experience, sub-domains are viewed as a "new" website in Google's eyes (to a point). You still inherit domain authority but not as much as a new page would (www.bharatdesi.com/hyderabad).

RE: Long URL Warning
Not the Titles but the URL needs to describe the page in as few words as possible.
instead of /5414668-women-s-invicta-swiss-16-diamonds-two-tone-mother-of-pearl-dial.html aim for something like** **/invicta-mother-of-pearl-dial.html
It also depends on what keywords you are aiming for this page. If it's "Woman's Invicta Swiss Watch" then you need to use that.

RE: Tactics to Influence Keywords in Google's "Search Suggest" / Autocomplete in Instant?
There was a very clever Adwords campaign by Converse. Used Adwords very intelligently.

RE: Homepage not showing for searches
If you haven't done so already, you need to create a 301 redirect from the old domain to the new one.
Google wants to find the most relevant pages to show it's users so those "inner" pages you are seeing are probably the most relevant for the keyword/phrase. It's not a bad thing at all, so don't stress over it.

RE: Does creating a Facebook App help your social SEO factors?
Social Signals are a factor in SEO but I believe it would be more beneficial for you to focus on creating the best possible usability for your app which in turn will get you the natural likes and shares you need.
Social Signals are very helpful for trending topics. We did an experiment with Social Signals and found that they do push up your rankings but only for a short period of time.

Yes, the default action is to follow unless specified otherwise

RE: Long URL Warning
@Mat
Remember the dashes or underscores are used to determine individual words by search engines. An example would be:
www.website.com/ceramictilesealant (X)
vs
www.website.com/ceramic-tile-sealant (Y)
Domain X wouldn't nessecarily gain any authority for "Ceramic Tile Sealant" in the URL but domain Y would definitely.

RE: Long URL Warning
Maybe on the shorter keywords where you have 1 or 2 in the URL but when you try and use invictamotherofpearldial as an extension, it can get very ambiguous. Google will probably figure it out if the Title tag is says "invicta mother of pearl dial" but I believe it is very unprofessional to have a URL that people battle to read.
If I saw **/**invictamotherofpearldial.html, I wouldn't know what that is but if the URL had **/**invicta-mother-of-pearl-dial.html, I can make a much better assumption of what the page is about. Google will see this as a usability issue.
