We are changing our homepage (and gradually the rest of the site) to Angular JS.
In order not to lose anything in terms of SEO we are implementing Hashbangs + escaped fragment snapshots.

Are there any other SEO considerations you think we should have and/or additional elements that we could add to the page to improve it in terms of SEO?

I get Matt Cutts saying this isnt really a priority, but still want to get it right

Our menu links have anchor text and the links within the page are images (next to each other with dif pics)
It seems like I should keep menu links both as Follow, but NoFollow one set of the image links on the page, right?

My company is redoing our homepage and there will be 4 links to our main play pages (5 games).  2 in the menu and 2 within the content.

I was thinking I should no follow one of the links on the homepage + 1 in the menu so that we don't have link dilution from having multiple internal links to the same destination within 1 page.

Does this make sense? Any downside of this or suggestions of a solution that may be more effective?

Pages for my companies play process load slowly because the process is heavy.

Below the play process there is a block of text, put mostly there for SEO purposes.

R&D are proposing to load the SEO Area only after the play process is loading.
This seems like a very bad solution, because loading the SEO Area asynchronously will make the content unreadable to Google.

Am I missing something?

Based on my experience, links are still very much part of the ranking algorithim for gaming. I understand the importance of white hat methods, but my question was more of a logistical one.... if all websites in RU have a section where they write about advertorials they will never publish an article for free no matter how amazing the outreach, content, relationship building etc....

So, given that seems to be the reality of the RU Market (according to my RU SEO/Content person) I was asking if someone has advice for white hat link building in RU and/or if they have different experiences than we have found.

Only in certain verticals, it seems to still be a ranking factor for gaming sites.

According to my RU content/SEO person all the major websites/blogs in RU asked for payment to post an article... and there is no advice in RU/Yandex for implementing white hat methods.

I work for a gaming company, so trying white hat is difficult in any country.... but still seems worth trying.

Does anyone have experience or advice about RU link building?

I am getting 2 completely different numbers in Google Analytics.According to the graph on my Dashboard organic traffic decreased ~40% comparing June 7 -> June 6.However, when I dig a bit deeper and look at the 2 dates specifically compared to each other I get a `3% increase in traffic.When I look at the traffic on just June 7, I get the number indicating the increase.Any ideas or someone getting similar conflicting numbers??

It seems like you probably don't want 4 different TLD, but instead would want to use ahref lang to indicate to Google that you are showing different regions different content. See here for more of an explanation - https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/189077?hl=en

Alternatively, if you do want the unique TLDs you could put a canonical to whatever content is duplicate back to the main site (.com probably).

Thanks.... We have a translated site where we follow these guidelines.

However, this is more about increasing conversions and showing one banner to new visitors and another banner on the same URL to returning visits, with some additional small variations on the page as well....

We want to show new and returning visitors different versions of our homepage (same URL)

What, if anything, should we use as the markup to tell Google what we are doing?
Any danger that Google will think we are cloaking?

Thanks! I had a RU content person on my team ask on a Yandex specific forum and that is the answer she got.

I have 2 RU websites.

One is my main site www.xxx.com saw big increases in rankings + visits last week. My geo-specific subsite, www.xxx.ru generally ranks better but did not change last week.

Any insights about why this occurred?

I have all that set up, but it's not major enough to tell me anything because my industry is so affected by the market and fluctuates according to external factors.

I would agree with the above 2 opinions, but assuming the price is cheap I would also buy atlanta.travel and put up a small website there with minimal SEO work so you have it in case the domain starts gaining respectability and/or becomes valuable while testing if it can bring you anything.

My website operates in 14 languages, and overall we have not seen a decrease in traffic (hard to measure because we are very vulnerable to external factors)

I started using AWR about a month ago and in that time have seen the following changes in my visibility for some of my major markets:  Nothing major in either direction, but any advice of how to delve deeper to find an explanation for the markets that are decreasing?

UK: 15% ->13%

RU: 25 -> 26%

AU: 25% -> 21%

DE: 18% - 19%

ES: 11% -> 10%

SE: 42% -> 44%

On March 6 my Yandex TIC score went from 80 to 0.  I assume this had something to do with their algorithim update.

Any advice on how to get it back up or why this would occur?

We are planning on redesigning our homepage and are thinking of moving the location of our blog.

Currently it is part of the main menu with a tab "Blog and News"

Links to the top news article are also displayed below the fold.

I checked with Google In-Page analytics and the news articles main link get 0.1% of the clicks and the blog&news don't get any clicks.

The Marketing VP wants to move Blog&News to a link below the fold... which seems like it will send a message to Google we don't care about it and get it even less traction than we currently have in terms of visitors.

Any suggestions of what we should do with it?

The "How it works" video that is embedded on my sites homepage is currently linked to an individual YouTube account not our company account.

I would like to change the ownership so that the company profile can enjoy the added views (currently 13K +).  Is there a way to move the video to a different account without losing the views it has already accumulated?

Also, a related technical question - our R&D team says the video is slowing down the site.  It links to YouTube but there is nothing in the source of our page about YouTube.  Any suggestions for embedding it more effectively?

We are a gaming site that publishes industry news 2-3 times a week, but that is not our main source of income

The traffic from my website significantly decreased from Yandex last month.

Was their a major update?

I want to block all the inner archive news pages of my website in robots.txt - we don't have R&D capacity to set up rel=next/prev or create a central page that all inner pages would have a canonical back to, so this is the solution.

The first page I want indexed reads:
http://www.xxxx.news/?p=1

all subsequent pages that I want blocked because they don't contain any new content read:
http://www.xxxx.news/?p=2
http://www.xxxx.news/?p=3
etc....

There are currently 245 inner archived pages and I would like to set it up so that future pages will automatically be blocked since we are always writing new news pieces. Any advice about what code I should use for this?

Is there any negative impact or pitfall of using <base> HTML-tag? Our developers are considering it as a possible solution for relative URLs inside HTML-markup in the Friendly URL context.

I am working on creating new SEO friendly URLs for my company website.

The products are the items with the highest search volume and each is very geo-specific
There is not a high search volume for the geo-location associated with the product, but the searches we do get convert well.

Do you think it is preferable to leave the location out of the URL or include it?

I want to know the search volume for ~1000 keywords that I discovered via ubersuggest.

Yesterday I could have done this in 5 minutes, but I can't seem to get it to work in the new Google tool and would love some advice.

When I either upload or copy and paste my list into the tool I can get it to give me search ideas with volume, but it has all the keywords I am uploading as 0 search volume (when I know that is not true and some of them have thousands of searches).  I've tried "entering keywords to see how they perform" and also "searching for keyword ideas" (the second just because the first didn't try after my 10 tries)

Any ideas about what I am doing wrong?
Or is this a bug other people have been experiencing?

I am trying to implement rel=publisher but am having some difficulties.

Although I have over 1000 fans when I try and verify my page I get a message from Google that "Your page does not have enough followers to be eligible for verification"

I use SEOMoz to track my rankings in RU, but there are a few problems:

1 - SEOMoz doesnt offer Yandex tracking

2 - When exporting rankings to CSV it only shows the keywords in EN characters and looks something like this ??asad&$

Google is recommending that websites nofollow any links from press releases or guest blogging.

Do people think this is really the new standard and sites could get penalized for guest blogging with follow links? Is anyone changing their strategy after hearing this announcement?

Figured out the problem was on my end

I want to import SEOMoz data to list of URLs I have using scrapbox.

I added in my credentials according to the API but am getting error 401 as the status of all my links.

Any idea why and what I should be doing?

I purchase a a domain xxx.ru and want to add my new website to yandex webmaster tools.

However, when I try adding my site I get a message saying "this site is a mirror of yyy.ru" (the old website who used to have my new domain and has since move to this new domain instead of the one I purchased from them)

After getting this message I am not able to add my website.

Any advice?
