Category: API

Discuss link data, metrics, and all of the calls available through the Links API.

  • "Date First Seen","Date Last Seen" and "Date Lost"  are columns in the CSV exported from LinkExplorer's Inbound Links page. How do I get that data from the API?

  • So I'm on the documentation page at https://moz.com/help/links-api/making-calls/url-metrics . I've copied the bit fields table into a spreadsheet. I've removed all the "deprecated" items and have totalled up the remaining items making a Cols= value of 182537205900657000. For want of better knowledge, I've used that same value for LinkCols=, SourceCols= and TargetCols=. The request url ends up being (anonymized):  http://lsapi.seomoz.com/linkscape/links/fordanddoonan.com.au?Cols=182537205900657000&AccessID=xxx&Expires=1557458487346&Signature=xxx&SourceCols=182537205900657000&TargetCols=182537205900657000&LinkCols=182537205900657000&Limit=1000&Scope=page_to_domain&Filter=external My question is, what do I make of all the extra fields that I get in the json packet what should I do to remove them? These extra fields are: lrid, lsrc, ltgt, luufq, luueid, lufeid, luujid, luumrp, luumrr, luflan, lufspf, lufsplc, lufspp, lufsps, lufspsc, luus, lufuid, lupuid, lufipl, luupa, lupda, luued, lufed, luped, lupib, luulc, flan, fspf, fsplc, fspp, fsps Is it simply a case of limiting the values of TargetCols, LinkCols and SourceCols? If so, to what?

  • What I mean is, I'm not that interested in counts. What I'd like to figure out is how to get the API to give me what the UI gives me , so that for a given target domain I can download a report with the following fields: URL
    Title
    Anchor Text
    Spam Score
    PA
    DA
    Linking Domains to Page
    Target URL
    Link Type
    Link State
    Date First Seen
    Date Last Seen
    Date Lost
    HTTP Status Code
    Links to Page
    Outbound Domains from Page
    Outbound Links from Page
Operator profile That's essentially the same as a CSV report generated by clicking on the "Export CSV" button. I could ,I suppose, get someone to write something in Selenium to enter a domain, click on the button and hang around on the notifications page for the results but I'd really rather not.

  • So I've got this server-side JScript object I've declared which works nicely for us. var mozObj = new MozInteraction()
    .setMethod("GET")
    .setHost("http://lsapi.seomoz.com")
    .setPath("linkscape/url-metrics")
    .setCols(parseInt("11111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111", 2))
    .setLines(10)
    .setAccessId(accessId)
    .setSecret(secret)
    .setExpires((new Date()).addDays(1).valueOf())
.generateSignature(); etc etc The setCols call sets the Cols value to the maximum possible: 9007199254740991. The weird thing is that in the JSON response I get a whole pile of column names that I can't find descriptions for in the documentation at https://moz.com/help/links-api/making-calls/response-fields e.g. ffspl1 ffspl2 ffspl3 ...  fuspl0 fuspl1 fuspl2 fuspl3 ...  pfspl0 pfspl1 pfspl2 pfspl3 ... puspl0 puspl1 puspl2 puspl3... etc

  • Hope you can help me with a query on 'Keyword Explorer' Currently, I'm able to use only one URL per search.
Is there a way to search keywords for multiple URLs?

  • I want to automate my competition research process. Right now my competition research is completely manual which is ok if working in a small project. Usually, start looking at Google for the best sites for a specific niche. In an excel sheet insert the URL in a column and start to put information in next columns, information such as DA, PA, backlinks, page speed, schemas validation and stuff like that. As I mentioned for a small project I usually take 10 websites as a reference to analyze how difficult can be rank a website. The problem starts when I have to scale when I have to evaluate 100 or 200 or even more websites in different niches or target location or industry. Does not make sense keep doing manually. So my question is there any way to connect the Moz API to Google Data Studio or Google Sheet

  • Subject pretty much says it all... How frequently is the Search Volume update for a given keyword? Is there an API call that would include keyword-specific Search Volume for one or more keywords? Thank you.

  • Hello, We want to get "discovered and lost links" using api.
You do not have discovered and lost metrics available via the Links API and we call api for backlinks and then cross reference this with the links found the last time, we are able to get only NET links, but we want to get "just discovered and lost links" separately.
for example: inbound links for 27 July is 600, inbound links for 30 July is 750, okay, NET links from 27 July to 30 July = 750-600=150. And in this case "discovered and lost links" maybe: 400 and -250, 300 and -150, 150 and 0, and etc. Maybe I can not understand something, give example please. Thank!

  • Hello, Currently you do not have discovered and lost metrics available via the Links API, maybe there are some workaround to get this metrics? For us, it is very important to use API,  or calculate it some mathematics way. Thank!

  • Hello, Could you tell me, can I use the api to get such data as ‘Discovered in the last 60 days’ and ‘Lost Links’?
If yes, which values of ‘Cols’ in URL Metrics I can use? Thank!

  • Hi. I have two campaigns that are constantly giving crawl errors, but in Search Console I don't. How can I do to fix this? The URLs are: https://www.starmeup.com/blog/en/ and https://www.starmeup.com/blog/es/ Thanks

  • We are using one of your API: https://moz.com/help/guides/moz-api/mozscape/api-reference/url-metrics on our website and it does not show up the title for each website.
But when I see the title of the same website through your extension Moz Bar, then it does show the title from the extension of that website. Can you tell me what is missing here?

  • I'm checking the DA/PA of the top 10 urls on google for a keyword, but I only get the DA/PA results for 3 of the domains, I know the other domains in the list would have results, is this a limitation on the API or should I be able to get DA/PA for more than 3 domains at a time? would it help if I only check one at a time instead of a larger set? 5dpi0h.png

  • Ok, you guys probably think this is a new website and i should just wait, but this is not the case.
We have 2 websites (old) websites with a DA of 34 and a DA of 19 and high PA values on the mainpage. Our problem: All the other pages stay at a page authority of 1. One website is build in Magento and one in Wordpress. Both websites have deeplinks, footerlinks en in-contentlinks. The other pages don't get any linkjuice according to Moz. We don't use any robot noindex, nofollow or nofollow links and the menu structure isn't the problem. Is anyone familiare with the problem? I know is shouldn't be concerned about PA/DA, but i just can't explain what's going on.

  • I know what information I need to pull... I know I need APIs to do it... I just don't know how to pull it or where. I have tools like Screaming Frog, Scrapebox, SEMRush, Moz, Majestic, etc. I need to find out how to type in a query and pull the top 10 ranking specs like DA, PA, Root Domains, Word Count, Trust Flow, etc. Here is a screenshot of info I manually pulled... https://screencast.com/t/H1q5XccR8 (I can't hyperlink it... it's giving me an error) How do I auto pull this info?? • Hi There! We are using Moz to compare our metrics to increase our SEO / SERP penetration. According to MOZ API Updates, it was mentioned that the next update will be on 26th Feb. But the update was early, could you please let us know the reason for the same. Why is there a discrepancy between the date mentioned for the Moz Update and the date of release? Thanks Malik Zakaria

  • Is there access with any of the available API's that I may be able to show my client's keyword competitive data for them vs their competitors (The ones they specify?). Perhaps in JSON format?

  • I'm trying out DashThis as a way to visualize data for clients with whom we do a combo of SEO, PPC, and SEM work. I like the main Moz Pro campaign dashboard page for distilling top-level information and the rankings page for tracking keyword ranks. In an ideal world, I'd love to be able to sort replicate these within DashThis. I see that DashThis does integrate with Moz but looking at the Mozscape API documentation I couldn't tell if this type of integration is possible in DashThis. I realize this is a super specific question, but I thought I'd ask the community if this integration is possible or if I have more limited range of options.

  • Hi all! Our website DA dropped from 55 to 1 in a matter of two months. Last time I checked, it was two months ago and the website DA was 55. When I checked today, it is 1. Needless to day, I am shocked. The website has been around since 1995 and has always had pretty decent DA and PA. We made a couple of important changes during past 3-4 months. One is to support HTTPS and another is to implement the responsive web design to support browsing by mobile devices. What could be the reason for such a dramatic drop of DA in a short period of time? Where would you suggest me to look for it? How can we get the problem fixed? Here is the website URL: www.infohub.com Thank you!

  • Number of total pages crawled on the latest report is about half the number from one week ago. No major changes to the site. Number of issues also dropped (not surprisingly). Why has the number dropped so significantly from week to week?
And are the issues actually cleared up, or just not counted because the crawl is so much smaller?

  • Moz sent us an email about our website https://www.openhill.com that they failed to crawl. I checked the forums with the same issues with mine and it looks like that Moz has problems with websites from Squarespace. I wonder if you do have a workaround on this. Let me know if you have instructions for me to fix this kind of issue. Thanks!

  • Hi everyone, I have a question regarding spam score of websites. So, even if we disavow backlinks in search console which are harming a site and are responsible for the spam score, then how will MOZ know that those backlinks are disavowed? And if they do not know then spam score will ever be reduced of any website. Is there any way to tell MOZ that those harmful links which responsible for the spam score are are no longer pointing to our site?

  • Hi guys, I created an XML sitemap and submitted it for my client last month. Now the developer of the site has also been messing around with a few things. I've noticed on my Moz site crawl that indexed pages have dropped significantly. Before I put my foot in it, I need to figure out if submitting the sitemap has caused this.. can a sitemap reduce the pages indexed? Thanks David.

But last 2 days both Moz Api and OSE main page show July 13 update results. Is there a maintenance or mismatching error between old and new databases?

  • Hi there, I have a small issue using MOZ API. I cannot make successful GET request for metadata (index stats). The request looks like this: http://lsapi.seomoz.com/linkscape/metadata/index_stats?AccessID=mozscape-XXXXXX&Expires=1497442682&Signature=XXXXXX. In my most recent request, I got an error message: "Permission denied: pckgmhkomakbnflgmckhobiiojjmomjpph". Did I forget something? Signed Authentication should be OK, because it works with other endpoints, such as "url-metrics", "links" etc. Thanks in advance! Kind regards, Zoran

  • Hello there, We are looking to see if we can recreate the Search Visibility report through the API. We are wondering which API parameters and metrics we should use to recreate the report? Also, we want to distinguish between traffic coming from desktops and mobile traffic. Is this possible with the API? Which type of account do we need to use for these functionalities: the free account or paid account? We are currently using a free account. Also: we are wondering if can access historical data with the API? For instance: we want to determine the domain authority from October 2016 off on. Is this possible? Thanks in advance! Kind regards, Bart Minten

  • This is the 3rd month in succession where the Mozscape index has been delayed. Myself and clients are losing patience with this, as I am sure many others must be. Just what do you suppose we tell clients waiting for that data? We have incomplete and sometimes skewed metrics to report on, delays which then get delayed further, with nothing but the usual 'we are working on it' and 'bear with us'. It's becoming obvious you fudged the index update back in January (see discussion here with some kind of explanation finally from Rand: https://moz.com/community/q/is-everybody-seeing-da-pa-drops-after-last-moz-api-update), and seems you have been fumbling around ever since trying to fix it, with data all over the place, shifting DA scores and missing links from campaign data. Your developers should be working around the clock to fix this, because this is a big part of what you're selling in your service, and as SEO's and marketers we are relying on that data for client retention and satisfaction. Will you refund us all if we should lose clients over this?! .. I don't think so! With reports already sent out the beginning of the month with incomplete data, I told clients the index would refresh April 10th as informed from the API updates page, only to see it fudged again on day of release with the index being rolled back to previous. So again, I have to tell clients there will be more delays, ...with the uncertainty of IF it WILL EVEN get refreshed when you say it will. It's becoming a joke.. really!

  • Hi all, I was wondering what happend at the last MOZ-update. The MOZ-health page has no current errors and i've checked a lot of websites probably about 50 a 60 from our customers and from our competitiors and everybody seems to have a decrease in DA's / PA's. Not just a couple went up and down like normally would happen, but all seems to have dropped.... Is anyone seeing the same in their campaigns? Greetings,

  • Hello all, With every new Moz report that comes in, an error code 803 appears. I check each link that comes up as an 803 but they work perfectly. What could be causing this to happen? Error Code 803: Incomplete HTTP Response Received Your page did not send a complete response to the Moz Crawler's request. Our crawler is pretty standard, so it's likely that other browsers and crawlers may also encounter this error. If you have this error on your homepage, it prevents the Moz crawler (and some search engines) from crawling the rest of your site.

  • We have had a steady rise over the past year and as the DA results came out i was extremely disappointed to see a 10 point drop. Competitors have also dropped but not by this figure. We have been continuing with the work we have been doing all year. Not the best news to have to share with the client. Would you use DA as a KPI or is it a little unreliable?
