Dynamic title
-
Hey folks!
Newbie here, tried searching for it, but couldn't find a definite answer.
I run a large video sharing site and recently started battling the duplicate title and meta description tags issues GWT reported.
Here's an example:
2 different members upload a video described as "My BMW".
Since the site is running on templates, both videos have the same meta title and meta description. Everything one the page is different, except the meta title and description.
The only way I can make it unique is to insert the current VIEWS count in the meta title and description and they would look like this:
Video 1 meta title/desc - My BMW video in Cars category | X views
Video 2 meta title/desc - My BMW video in Cars category | Y views
The problem is that the value of X and Y is changing all the time! Does this matter?
Sincerely,
H.Marinov

This may be a little late to the game, but, Dynamic Page titles in IMO are not great. However, Will including page Views in the title benefit the users? Maybe.
But I don't think that one or two dup page titles will kill your SEO.
Worse case, could you mod your system to not allow Title which have already been used?
-
Bump?
-
Any other opinions?

If you use an id you will not have a dynamic meta title but it is always the same
first spoke of current views, in this case you will have a dynamic title and from my point of view this is not good if you want to index the single video
-
I can add an ID, I thought of this already, but this isn't what my question is about.
The question is whether having a dynamic (changing) meta title and description will be bad or not.
-
you can't add a id?
Video 1 meta title/desc - My BMW video in Cars category | by maurizio Lecce 45
Video 1 meta title/desc - My BMW video in Cars category | by maurizio Lecce 46
Bye
-
Unfortunately this won't work because there are members with more than one video with the same description...
-
Hi
If you want that the title is always different in every videos you can do so:
Video 1 meta title/desc - My BMW video in Cars category | by maurizio Lecce
Video 2 meta title/desc - My BMW video in Cars category | by Adilet Nasirdinov
You can always add the names of members to the title, so it's sure that is different.
Bye
Maurizio

Showing more Duplicate Title Tags Than WMT
This is yet another question between moz vs google WebMaster Tools. In WMT it only shows 5 pages with a total of 18 duplicate titles. But moz is showing 298. It appears the duplicates are canonical links for the most part. What is the discrepancy?

Title Tag and Company Name
Hello everyone! The company I work for has an e-commerce site that needs to be optimized. I am starting from the title tags which are too long and need optimized for specific keywords. Thing is that each title tag contains the specific keywords for the page and the company name. My question is should I keep the company name within the title tags or should I just keep the keywords I target for those pages? How will it affect my rank? Cheers Oscar

I am optimizing title tags and was wondering if it makes a difference if I use "commas" in between keywords that are synonyms or should I use "and" instead?
For example: "pants, trousers at pants.com" or "pants and trousers at pants.com".

Fixing Wordpress Title and Description Tag Placement
I know how important the title and description tag are and I know it is important to have them place at the top of the code. However, when I view the source on a Wordpress template, I see it looks messy. Here is an example of what the source looks like. Is there a plugin or an adjustment to be made so the code is cleaner? To get rid of spaces and blank lines in code. Or should I just not worry about the way the code looks? Notice the first example has a break after the <title>, then after the title there is this</p> <p style="color: #5e5e5e;"><strong><em><meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" /> </em></strong></p> <p style="color: #5e5e5e;"><strong><em> </em></strong>then the description? Can that be moved?</p> <p style="color: #5e5e5e;"> </p> <p style="color: #5e5e5e;"><span style="color: #5e5e5e;"><!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"></span><span style="color: #5e5e5e;"><br /></span><span style="color: #5e5e5e;"><html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" dir="ltr" lang="en-US"></span><span style="color: #5e5e5e;"><br /></span><span style="color: #5e5e5e;"><span> </span><head profile="http://gmpg.org/xfn/11"></span><span style="color: #5e5e5e;"><br /></span><span style="color: #5e5e5e;"><span> </span><title></span><span style="color: #5e5e5e;"><br /></span><span style="color: #5e5e5e;"><span> </span>tite text goes here <span> </span></title> " /> Here there are no breaks after <title>and the <title> is directly above the description</p> <p style="color: #5e5e5e;"> </p> <p style="color: #5e5e5e;"><span style="color: #5e5e5e;"><!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"></span></p> <p style="color: #5e5e5e;"><span style="color: #5e5e5e;"> </span><span style="color: #5e5e5e;"><html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" dir="ltr" lang="en-US"></span></p> <p style="color: #5e5e5e;"><span style="color: #5e5e5e;"><head profile="http://gmpg.org/xfn/11"></span></p> <p style="color: #5e5e5e;"><span style="color: #5e5e5e;"><meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" /></span></p> <p style="color: #5e5e5e;"><span style="color: #5e5e5e;"><title>tite text goes here</title>

Why does SEOmoz use /blog/content-title vs /category/content-title? Any difference?
Assume a brand new blog being designed and all other things equal. What are the pros & cons between using the url structure /blog/content-title vs. /category/content-title? Note:
