Running image ads with text is better? - anyone have the link?
-
Blank mind and cant find the Google research (or maybe it was someone else) that showed that sales were better when running image ads alongside your text ads
Does anyone have that link?
Cheers

I linked to a couple of resources over on distilled some time ago:
http://www.distilled.net/blog/ppc/combining-search-and-display-advertising/
Are any of those what you are looking for? Microsoft research is generally pretty powerful in this area.

It has been my experience that text ads definitely get more clicks than banner ads, especially if the text links are positioned within content and appear to be more integrated into the site, instead of a banner on the top of the page for example. People have been trained to ignore banners and ads that sit outside of the website.
-
what this might refer to is a known blackhat tactic. Where you put images lined up right next to each ad. This will increase the click thru rate. I ve read people having an increase of four fold. This practice is banned by adsense and will not help you since you are the advertiser. It only benefits publisers.

Sorry, I don't think I said it very clearly
Basically, I am running Google Adwords text ads in Google search.
I want to start running banner ads on various websites as well, but I would like to have the research to back up the decisions to test this

Managing negative keywords when multi ad groups trigger for same keyword
Hi Mozzers, I have a lot of ad groups - hundreds! Without negative keywords, multiple ad groups in my campaign could trigger for the same keyword. For example, a search for crm software could trigger the following ad groups: Ad group 1 (the ad group I want to trigger) - CRM Software
Paid Search Marketing | | Zoope
Ad group 2 - Best CRM Software
Ad group 3 - CRM Software Solutions
Ad group 4 - CRM Software for Small Business
etc. So I handle this situation by negative keyword matching the words 'CRM Software' in ad groups 2, 3 and 4. However, this is a very manual and laborious activity when I have 900+ keywords in my campaign, with 150+ ad groups. Does anybody know of any tools that might automate this process, or any techniques for making the process easier and more accurate? Thanks!0 -

Will Google penalize a text ad if the display URL goes nowhere?
Today I had a colleague ask me if Google Adwords will penalize text ads that have display URLs that land on 404 pages. I fully understand the policy that the domains in display URLs and destination URLs have to match up or Google will disapprove the text ad. However if the display url contains the proper domain (and a target keyword phrase for a file folder) will Google penalize the text ad quality score if the display URL lands on a 404? I had trouble finding specific evidence for this.

Does anyone know if there are any adwords guideline restrictions against naming a product with the term "Clinically Proven?"
If you do a search for something like "protein powder" there are the sponsored ads where you can shop. Does anyone know if there are any guidelines against naming a product with "Clinically Proven." For example, "Clinically Proven Protein Powder." Any guidance, insight, or links helping to answer this question would be appreciated.

Product listing Ads and the product descriptions. How much of a factor is this in visibility?
I've scoured the web trying to find some proof of whether the product listing text uploaded to GMC is in fact a factor in showing up or whether its just the title that matters. Basically, does anyone know if the product descriptions play a large factor in showing up or is it just the landing page text and the title? I also wonder just how much text is worth putting there, it seems there is a 500 character limit.

Questions on Paid Directory Links...
Hi Moz Community! We have a client in the manufacturing industry that is listed in Thomasnet.com for a about 75 different terms. For those that might not know, this is a paid directory site that ranks extremely well and has a very high DA at just under 90. These 75 different terms have spanned about 9,000 "dofollow" links on Thomasnet.com around 4 months back, right about the same time as the Penguin 2.0 update. The link profile for this client had around 2,000 links prior to the 9,000 additional links, and our team is unclear if we should be concerned about these paid directory links. The organic rankings have dropped a bit, but that might be because of a more general Penguin update and not be directly tied to this paid directory. I'm looking for some general guidance and recommendations in this paid directory space and help with Thomasnet.com if available. Should these links be requested as changed to "nofollow"?

Will Google see this domain as one major domain link?
What other recommendations/experience with "quality" paid directories can be expected? Thanks much and look forward to your comments and discussion. Dario0 -
Increasing Google Ad spend - is it worth it
Hi We are currently spending approx £500 pcm on google ad words however if I increased this spend to £4000 pcm what kind of results would this achieve? For example would it just be more visits per day as the budget is larger? Also what is the best way to track the success of an adwords campaign - the ultimate goal of the campaign would be to generate a lead whether this be a phone call, email or using our book an appointment form. Our service covers a geographical area (Scotland) and for organic search we are doing well 1st pages listings for searches such as pvc doors edinburgh etc so I am unsure whether it's worth increasing my PPC spend or put more resource into SEO, or even Facebook ads?

Looking for Reviews on Ad Matching Company "Vertical Search Works"
Hey there, We got cold called by "Vertical Search Works" - VerticalSearchWorks.com and while it sounds great (low CPC compared to our current PPC stuff) on great networks (DIY, HGTV), no contracts, pause anytime... But RipOffReport has two bad reviews on them and I have not been able to search out anything else on them online. If anyone has insight before we start working with them, let me know! Thanks!
