My question is, i was thinking to buy a broad keyword domain or brand.
From my experience, and seo strategy, i believe or ithink to start with brand name, unique brand name, and i can build more naturaly backlinks or all type of seos, maybe is better than a jobs domain.
What do you suggest me?

finally, a personal guarantee my favorite television show, House, will return to it's former glory of the first few seasons
Ok, I have no idea about the reward. Perhaps now is a good time to mention I never received my t-shirt for 1k points? Here's hoping "something special" is not a stuffed Roger bot

I was thinking the same actualy, did you get the "something really special" promised?
-
Thanks Alan. Guru sounds better if you ask me, but I'll graciously accept any title the mozzers wish to share

Congrats on becoming a Oracle

I rule I go by, if the budget is small, then keyword domain name is a great advantage. but with a large budget the advantage of keyword domain diminishes against domain authority, link count and the like.

I am a big fan of building a strong brand. An if you want to capitalise on a keyword loaded domain then make sure it's an exact match or as close as you can get to it for a search terms that you know carries relevant search volume. Set it up as a fish-net site which (again in your brand) captures that slice of the traffic and focus on the big picture with your main domain.
-
I have no suggestions other then the best practices which apply to most websites. If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask.
-
Yes, i figured it out, but at the moment i dont have peoples here for Human Resources, but i will take with a time.
The brandname is without hyphens, and only with 6characters.
is memorable, how you read and write some characters, can't make any misspelling etc..!
I think is danger to take a job domain and to optimize the on-page with job keyword, backlinks with jobs, maybe is danger for a new site, for that reason, i think to increase the link metrics authority of DA and PA, with a brand-unique name, naturaly way and all links moderated, and after 2-3 months or 4, to start with link building with exactly anchor text, i hope i can avoid the spammy better than any jobs domain.
if you have any idea, for a startup, it would be nice to hear it from you Ryan.
-
It sounds like you have it all figured out then.
-
You decided you wish to acquire the ccTLD for your country
-
You decided you want to establish a unique brand name
With those decisions in place there is not too much left. As I suggested earlier, avoid hyphens in your domain name. Ideally your domain name will be as short and memorable as possible.
Good luck.

Hi Ryan.
My idea is, idont like to include the word " job " or " jobs " on domain. Because i am making a unique strategy for marketing, and idifferent unique tactics on marketing to hire visitors and company's too.
I like to start the website on my ccTLD, and the unique name i choosed, is unique internationaly unique not only on my country.
I am doing seo for a long time, and on my country are maybe 4 strong competitors for jobs, and thise websites are not so so strong on ranking, i can take the best places with a time, because i have a strong relationships with universities here and newspapers.
My goal is, to make a well-strong website for jobs, oriented for peoples and search engine, the development its finish now, site is 30% easier then competitors to use.
Price maybe the same, or 20% less then competitors, but at the begining i will do for 3 months for each company one submission for free.
We have some nice unique selling points through social media websites, we dont know if we will be successive, but we will try.
I am experiences on ranking, i have down for big real estates here, etc.. i hope with the jobs to do the same, but the jobs site is my website and not for a client.
Thanks

There are many articles on choosing a domain name. Some suggestions:
-
try to obtain a .com URL. If the one you want is not available, then consider the ccTLD for your country or a .net domain.
-
avoid hyphens in the domain name. If you do use a hyphen, don't use more then one.
-
Branding is an excellent means of distinguishing your site. If you can successfully establish a brand, you will earn branded searches and have opportunities to perform well in ranking.
-
you may want to consider building a brand and mixing your site focus. For example "SEOmoz" is a brand, but it also includes the site's focus, SEO, in the name.
The actual name should come from your ideas. What is your inspiration for creating this site? Is this one of 20 sites you run? Or is this a longtime focus. Do you have a physical location where you have offered job services for years? Or is this an idea you whipped up to earn a bit of side money? The answers to this questions along with your niche will help to create a name for your site.

When is it wrong to use a competitors brand name?
I recently started with a company who've benefited from using a competitors brand name to explain why theirs is superior. They're not wrong and neither have they been derogatory, however they have had significant traffic to their website using the competitors branded search terms. I'm concerned Google will penalise us for this (if so can you point me to case studies/similar examples), or am I worrying unnecessarily?

What travel keywords to choose? 'flight' or 'airplane ticket'?
I did some keyword research in order to do some onsite optimization on a travel industry-related website. I found 2 kinds of relevant keywords: 'flight'-related keywords (e.g.: flight chicago dallas) 'airplane ticket'-related keywords (e.g.: airplane ticket chicago dallas) Competition is the same on both but the first ones have more volume. So I'm really tempted to go with the 'flight'-related keywords. However the 'airplane ticket'-related keywords also have an interested volume so how should I do my onsite optimization. So each one of this solution do you think is the best: creating one page targeting the 'flight' and 'airplane tickets'-related keywords knowing isn't a good practice targeting two different keywords ? creating two different pages (one targeting 'flight' and the other one targeting 'airplane tickets') but it isn't very relevant for visitors since both pages are proposing the same offer? also it might have some duplicate content issue. creating one page targeting 'flight' and forget about 'airplane tickets' and missing some opportunities ? creating one page targeting 'flight' and adding some 'airplane tickets' keywords in content and hoping to get some 'airplane tickets' keywords traffic ? Thank you in advance for your feedback and sharing your experience in the same kind of issue.

Should I keep knowitall.biz domain name?
Basically wondering whether or not to keep this domain or start SEO with a new domain. The product is a tool that is somewhat comparable to evernote. Basically you can use this instead of searching your email (inefficent, and badly designed for storing personal/biz info). It is a tool that we developed in house for ourselves before evernote was around. At this point I need to figure out which keywords to target, so any suggestions with that would be much appreciated too!! Dave2

New domain name, better to put the activity in the domain ?
Hello, I'm working on a new dance school website. They already have their domain name .ae but the .com is not available. I was wondering in this case how could it would be to work on a domain like name-dance-school.com instead of name.ae In thie case .ae is very good as they just work on the uae. But I think that name-dance-school will definitely help them to rank better. Has anyone ever face this situation ? Best regards.

Keyword Research Help
Hi all, My website is www.bruadair.com which is a luxury 7 bedroom villa in Barbados primary suited for large groups and weddings , using googles adword keyword tool i have been trying to establish some long tail keywords that i could include in my website. However i am finding it extremely difficult to find any long tail keywords (such as: Luxury 7 bedroom Villa Barbados ) that are receiving any local or global searches, it seems that there are only extremely competitive keywords receiving traffic. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how i can find effective keywords? With this type of website is it really as likely to be able to rank high due to the pure amount of keyword competition? I would really appreciate any help given as i am really struggling with my keyword research 😞 Thank you very much!!

E-Commerce keyword question
We sell ItemA. One of the phrases that brings people to our site is "ItemA for sale". Should I just try to target "ItemA" or should I try to get "for sale" in there? I have seen a few other variations such as "on clearance" or "to purchase" as well. Can I just focus on "ItemA" or do I need all of those variants as well?

Newbie has various questions about keywords
Hi All - Im just learning, would appreciate some clarification on how keywords work. Specifically: For a phrase keyword, does order matter? E.g. is 'Bridging loans UK' the same keyword as 'UK bridging loans'? Again in a phrase, do the keywords need to be adjacent? So if I had a an H1 tag on my page which was 'We provide Briding loans for the entire UK', would this be considered a match for the keyword phrase 'Bridging loans uk' ? As I understand it, optimising your site for a certain keyword involves 2 things at a basic level:a) Including that keyword on your site, and b) Getting relevant inbound links from other sites with that keyword as the anchor text. Is this correct? Are there other large scale factors? What is the balance between those 2 (or more) main factors? Which is most important?
