Link submissions confirmed but not showing up in OSE
-
One of the first things I did after signing up for the 30-day seomoz trial is analyze 3 competitor's inbound links from external sites.
On the Competitive Domain Analysis page, I was able to obtain links from more than half of the sites identified as their top links. All submissions were approved between 9/13 and 9/28.
Now, a month later, under the Competitive Comparison section, I only have one external followed link, while the competitors have hundreds. For Top Pages, the only page that shows up is the root domain, comitzlaw.com/.
For two of the competitors, 7 out of their top 10 links are from pview.findlaw.com/. I have a link from the same site, confirmed as of mid-September, yet it doesn't show up.
Any ideas? I must be doing something seriously wrong.

The index is scheduled to be updated later today, according to the calendar at http://seomoz.zendesk.com/entries/345964-linkscape-update-schedule. SEOmoz will generally send a tweet when the new index is live, so keep an eye out there as well.

Ah, yes. Now I remember reading that notice about the servers and the mid-October estimate. Thanks for reminding me.

Is building links just to risky to do nowadays?
Hi, How risky is link building nowadays? I have a site which has been left on its own and over time has generated links which is great, its a resource type of site so works well in that department. The reason it picks up links by itself is because I have spent time on it and in the past I could just leave and the links it would pick up would maintain its rankings. Over the last 6 months a lot of marketers have noticed this large traffic, and have produced 1 page sites going directly for my main term - then putting adsense all over it. So problem is, my site can't build links by itself as fast as these marketers are doing manually. Don't get me wrong I can do what they are doing but they don't care about their 1 pager as much as I do about my site - a lot of work has gone into it. Can I link build without running a 'big' risk of having my site hit by Google? how does one build links the way Google is ok with? Thanks.

Sudden and dramatic decrease in External Followed Links and Total External Links
I'm not sure how or why this has happened but from a span of a week my client's site went from 518 total external links to 97. I also saw a dramatic decrease in traffic for that week as well. I'm new to the SEO game but I have not made any changes to their content other than importing old blog posts that did not get migrated to their new host. Any thoughts? www.cobbcountyattorneys.com Thanks! JC

Creating Free Website Accounts (Weebly, Wix, Wordpress.com, etc) for Linking Purposes?
Greetings Mozzers, I came a cross several sites and when looking at their link profile I found they had several links from these free services to gain links. Obviously duplicate content is bad, but if all the content on each one was completely unique, would these links be of quality? Let's say, 1 link per site that is external to your site. I know it's a tricky topic but just wanted thoughts, would the above be a potentially beneficial method for gaining a simple quality link. Your advice and information is much appreciated!

OSE Inconsistency??
Hi, I started doing an analysis of a competitor's link profile. OSE says that they have 4000+ links. And when I download the CSV file it lists over 1800 external links. However, when I click on the "Compare Link Metrics" tab it says they only have 4 external links. From the CSV file I can tell that a LOT of the links are spammy blog post type links. But a few (more than 4) are very strong external sites. So is the Compare Link Metrics report just wrong, or am I just not interpreting the information correctly. Appreciate the feedback!

Problems With Link Detective
Is anyone else experiencing problems with Link Detective? It seems to of been down for a few days now with the same message that it will be back 'later today'. I have not seen any issues noted elsewhere but I know a fair few members here are using it so before I start pestering them I wondered if anyone else is having issues. Thanks

Backlinks: Majestic SEO vs. OSE
My apologies if this noob question has already been answered somewhere, but what's the difference between the backlinks reported by Majestic SEO vs. the links reported by OSE. Just curious why the former might report 2,360 external backlinks to a page and the latter might report 949 total links to the same page. Just curious. Thanks!
