Bounce rates plummeted
-
In Google Analytics, my average bounce rates plummeted basically overnight. I went from a consistent average daily bounce rate of about 65% to an average daily bounce rate near 5%. My average number of visitors has stayed the same. I don't think there is any significant change I made to my site that may have caused this. Has anyone else had the same problem and know why it happened and how to fix it? Thanks in advance!

I was just about to reply with check your analytics tools. I had the same issue happen on a WP site, and it was because I had two copies of GA running. Glad you figured it out, but so sorry that wasn't your true bounce rate!

Good to hear you worked it out

For anyone who else who may be curious, I ended up figuring out what the problem was. We had installed a WordPress plug in to track outbound links from the site so a lot of people that left the site were being recorded as having an event and therefore were not a bounce. When I disabled the plug in our bounce rates went back to normal.

I havent done the maths, but yes that sounds about right

Our Pages/visit average did also go up by about 2 pages around the same time. Would that be enough to account for a 60% drop in bounce rate??? A 5% bounce rate seems too good to be true.
-
has you Pages/Visit gone up?
if your bounce rate goes down, you would expect Pages/Visit to go up.

The low bounce rate is great. If the data is accurate. My concern is that the data is not accurate. We went from about 65% to 5% in 2 days yet we made no changes on the site.
So in other words, if it we had done something to create the dramatic decrease, that would be great. But we did nothing. And given the huge decrease we are left to wonder if there is a problem with the data.
Thoughts?

Fix it? A low bounce rate is good. it means 95% of people are visiting more the one page of your site.

Bounce rate and Chrome
My client had a large spike in their bounce rate at the end of June, 2017. After spending far too long looking around Google Analytics I discovered that the bounce rate increased 5x when version 59.0.3071.104 of Google Chrome appeared on the scene. Version 59.0.3071.102 and older had a bounce rate of about 13%. Version 59.0.3071.104 increased to 65%. Each subsequent version is about the same.FireFox, Safari and the rest are showing no significant changes.Any idea what is happening here? Many thanks.

How is a Bounce defined for mobile devices?
Hi, does anyone know or have a link for me, where I can find, what or how a Bounce is defined for mobile devices? If you are on safari mobile and click on the homebutton, is that a bounce?

Why do I have a lot of direct traffic from MSN and Yahoo with 100% bounce rate?
For MSN I have about 8000 hits of one page and a 100% bounce rate. In the last month I have about 400 hits from Yahoo with a 100% bounce rate. Msn is all different pages, while Yahoo is all the home page. What would cause this?

Conversion Rate Question: Should I Measure Visits or Unique Visits?
When you measure conversion rates, is the equation: conversion rate = visits/conversions or conversion rate = unique visits/conversions I ask because it can actually make a pretty big difference in the conversion rate. For example, if you visit my ecommerce website 100 times before buying something (and assuming you're my only visitor), then my conversion rate is 100% _if I'm determining conversion rates by unique visits/conversions. _However, it's only 1% _if I'm determining conversion rates by visits/conversions. _Wow! Now this is clearly an extreme example, but it should serve to illustrate the point that in more reasonable cases, the way the data is measured can have a potentially significant impact on the conversion rate. Is there an industry standard for this? Am I missing something really basic? Also, here's a little bit of context for the question: I run an ecommerce website powered by the Magento CMS and I'm trying to measure my conversion rate in Google Analytics for individual products. Google Analytics shows me my site wide conversion rate, but apparently I have to do some customization in order to measure conversion rates on the product level. That's fine, but I want to make sure I'm measuring my product conversions in a standard way. Thanks for any and all help! Adam

Will javascript generated links affect my bounce rate?
Hi all, I run a site called Applicable Jobs (http://www.applicablejobs.com) and from analyising my analytics I notice my bounce rate is unusually high at around 85%. I'm keen to get this right down as I've read recently that a high bounce rate is a metric Google uses in determining positioning in the SERPs. I honestly don't think it's the quality of my content because I feel it's genuinely useful to my target audience but I'm wondering if the way my jobs list is generated is causing an issue. At the moment I have my jobs listings generated through javascript so I can have nice effects and use a bit of ajax but if Google crawls it, it obviously won't be able to see the listings. So I'm wondering if when a user comes to the site and they click on one of the job listings, does the Google analytics code recognise that click because that link is generated through javascript? Thanks

Bounce Rate
Howdy Mozzers Does anyone know if the 'average time on site' in Google analytics is calculated with bounce rate included? For example if you have a 50% bounce rate and your average time on site is 2 minutes the actual time would be 4 minutes as the 50% bounce rate time is classed as 0. I hope that is clear! Cheers
