How can I stop google reading a certain section of text with my H1 tag?
-
Hey Mozzers,
I'm wondering if anybody knows of a way that I can stop google reading a certain part of text within my H1 texts?
My issue is that I have individual office pages on my site, but many offices are based in the same city; such as 'London'. I want to keep London within the H1 tag for user experience but I do not want it to be picked up by the search engines and start a canonical issue.
I've seen some people say to use document.write or use an image. Does anybody know of a correct way of doing this?
Many Thanks.

Dont do it,
You wont have canonical issues from just have London repeated in a H1.
But you will hava problem if you stat down the reaod of cloking

If you can share the URL to a few example pages, we can probably offer a better idea for you. Generally speaking, if you are trying to hide content from Google you are probably not taking the best approach.

H1 text and Header Image Overlap?
I have images with text at the top of every page on my site. But no H1 or H tags at all. I would like the text on the image to be my H1 text. But I don't want to be repetitive. What should I do?

Once more, H1 in the logo
So, from a semantic point of view, it's really clear that this isn't the best practice. My question is, does anybody has a REAL experience with this case? Like changing the logo and having some improving (or not) on the general ranks. Please, I am not speaking about "general recommendations", I am speaking about real cases. 'I checked most of the previous answer and couldn't find a answer with "proper experience", only "general semantic recommendation".

Is it bad to include google Maps in footer?
We have 5 locations and we were thinking about including a map for each location in the footer. These would be set-up as no-follow links. They could potentially enhance user experience but it also increases size of footer. Right now there are just basic links to pages (sitemap, terms, etc), contact info, social links, and contact form. If we did the maps it would also include link to the individual location pages. Not sure if we are doing too much in footer or need to just keep it basic. Thanks for the help!

How to find google indexed pages
I can't find where the # of indexed pages are on my google analytics. I tried the instructions below, but the index status was not an option on my dashboard. View the Index Status page: On the Webmaster Tools home page, click the site you want. On the Dashboard, click Google Index, and then click Index Status.

Google indexing page differently
Does google index an interal page differently depending on whether you are using a FULL url (including domain) or just a relative link? Also, is it possible that using a full URL (http://mysite.com/page.html) causes the browser to "ping" the server differently than just having the href linked to using relative links (/page.html) Could this cause server or firewall perfomance issues?

Is there a recommended character limit for alt text tags?
I've searched around for a maximum number of characters to use when writing alt tags, but not seeing anything more than "don't keyword stuff." Is there a recommended number of characters?

Title Tag suggestions for blog....
Hi Guys. I have been sorting out title tags for a photography site. I have given each page within the website a different title tag but now Im unsure as what I should do with the blog. Blog title tag is currently "Portrait Photographer London | Company Name Blog" This is fine however wordpress combines the homepage title tag with the title of each blog post and imo makes for a long & cumbersome title...such as : "The Obamas Family Portrait | Portrait Photographer London | Company Name Blog" I'm pretty sure I could do better and should do better but Im at a loss, what do you guys think?
