Great idea to get back links in short order; however the links would be unrelated. . Is it worth the effort . BTW, it's a white hat method. Should I proceed?
-
I have come up with a very creative way to get some great back links using white hat methods. The problem is that the back links to the site would be to an interior page or external promotional website which then have links back to the main website. What kind of value for the main domain would this potentially achieve. What are peopLes thoughts on this idea?
-
Well, after careful consideration, I passed on the idea for many of the reasons you mentioned, although the primary reason was the cost benefit analysis.
The idea if others want to use it and provide me a link for the idea, it is below.
The idea is based on the "The Day in the Life of America" project done in the 1980's where they had 500 photographers take pictures on one single day and then they created a book. (There was no internet or digital photographers back then)
Anyway, the idea was going to be called "Triple Eleven" for 11/11/11. The idea was to launch a site which allowed people to upload photos taken on 11/11/11, input their location, time and a description. Then after the 11th, let the public vote and choose the best picture.
I thought this could have very real viral implications if promoted correctly and by offering a great prize.
Thanks again for the input.

Fidelity One,
First, maybe yes, maybe no.... Good that it is white hat though.
Assuming your interior pages have importance to someone making a query regarding the product,
Assuming the "unrelated links" are not Casino Envy, ProSportsTips, etc. and have at least some form of business purpose (certain directory sites) etc.,
Assuming your links to promo sites, etc. are reasonable and within the rules...
They could provide some assist to the main domain over time. How much is dependent on way too many factors based on what you have given us. If you are looking at should I/should I not, I would say it is really dependent on how secure you are in the belief all is on the up and up, and how much effort you have to expend for the potential return.
If the site is up tight on on site, on page, etc. has great content, etc. has a relevant set of pages based on likely (researched) queries, etc. and the only thing left is trying this magic..... Try it in small doses and monitor it.But, that is just an opinion...... Let us know how it works out and then when successful I want to see the youmoz blog on your technique!

Backlinks from different TLD's impact
Hi MOZ'ers, I'm wondering what the impact of different TLD backlinks is for same language pages. For example: we're on a website that has a German national TLD .de. We're earning backlinks and they are coming from .de as well as .ch (Switzerland) or .at (Austria) pages. What would be more desirable, and how big would you consider the difference? Looking forward to hearing your responses 🙂 Justen

Is hiring bloggers to review my products while back linking to my website bad for SEO?
For many months I have been following this strategy of hiring high domain authority bloggers to review my products and link back to my website. For a month or two my rankings improved but now I suddenly lost rankings. Can Google penalize me for hiring bloggers to review my products? Bloggers do mention in the blog that the product was requested for editorial review. Any tips will be helpful. Regards

Is this link opportunity worth pursuing? (Gated page)
Hi, While looking for link opportunities for my client in the shoe business, I came across a page of a running club's website that hosts discounts for members of the running club. To actually view the content of the page you must be logged in. When not logged in all you can see is the sign-up page and a message asking you to log in. Would this link be at all useful in terms of SEO or would crawlers not be able to view the page content as well? Thanks!

Is it better to link back to the root domain, or the specific page you're optimizing for?
I'm working on a project our site - building links for iPhone Repair. For the term "iphone repair miami" - is it more ideal to link to the root domain (xxx.com) or to the subpage that is about iPhone Repair (xxx.com/iphone-repair)? I would imagine the latter - but obviously that page has less authority than the root. Thanks!
