What Tools Can Be Used To Determine Kw's I Should Be Optimizing For ?
My concern is that I may be optimizing certain pages with wrong kw phrases and building backlinks to wrong kw phrases that are not a good conversion keyword for the services that I am selling.
What are the various ways and tools that can be used to determine if I am optimizing for the right kw's phrases and not the wrong ones that will not convert into a lead from the optin form.
I am wondering if ppc spy tools such as spyfu, semrush help me identify if I in fact am opitimizing for the right kw's ?

PS: 5. Would be -> do SEO for the best converting keys
I do not know a tool, that predicts conversion rates. But if you see, that a competitor is doing heavy link-building on a page / key, it is very likely, that it is converting well
You could try this just with Open Site Explorer here at SEOMOZ. Check the domain of a competitor -> click on "top pages". You will see the most linked to pages.
Check the titles of those pages and with a high probability you will have his top converting keywords.

Thanks for your feedback, So the key is to run adwords campaigns to test which words convert ..humm thanks ;0}
Wondering if those ppc/organic spy tools can help with determining what kw's the competitors are optimizing that are giving them top conversions in Organic SERP's ?

PS: As we are Germans, we use Sistrix, Searchmetrics, WISE for discovering the keywords of our competitors. I have no suggestion for the us/uk-market. But I hope SEOmoz will offer a keyword tool in the future

We have a 4-step-process for keyword-discovery:
- we do a brainstorming session and collect all keywords, that come to our minds
- we create an adwords campain an run all these keywords / phrases in broad match
- we keep only those combinations, that convert well
- we use "spy tools" to collect our competitors keywords / phases and restart with them at 2.

I'm finding it difficult to make a decision on keywords to select to target for new site?
Hi, I'm doing keyword research for a small site and followed the standard keyword process of using Ahrefs and Google's keyword planner tools to see what keywords are being searched for my service. There are keywords that have a higher avg monthly search volume but they are aren't as relevant as ones that include the word cheap or affordable for example but those ones are only 300 monthly searches per month which seems very small for the main page of the site. Any advice what I should do in this scenario? Do I choose a more relevant keyword with lower search volume or go for one with much higher avg monthly search volume which is much more competitive?

Using Adwords to determine effective SEO keywords
Hello, My name is Mitchell and I'm new to the MOZ community and to the SEO field. I just recently launched an e-commerce website that sells refurbished laptops and computers and I have been researching ways to bring traffic and sales to our website. I understand that the first step to building an effective SEO campaign is to determine effective keywords to build from: targeted traffic + good volume.I've used several online tools to find relevant keywords and it appears that most of the relevant keywords are already Highly competitive and the first 2 Google pages are usually taken over by big name brands.I understand that I need to find low competition long tail keywords and start my way up from there.Assuming that I find 5-10 long tail keywords with low competition and decent search volume, here are my questions:- Should I test these long tail keywords with Google Adwords to find out if they convert well BEFORE I optimize my website for them?- Since I will be having several different long tail keywords, do I need to have a separate webpage on my site for each? (I believe that it's suggested to have one page per keyword, maximum 2)- If yes, does that mean that each long tail keyword needs to have it's own back links to bring in traffic?- Should I optimize my homepage for a long tail keyword as well? or should I optimize it for the more broader keywords and create sub-pages for the long tail keywords?-Â One of my site's main products is a very popular item and has high competition and search volume. Would it make sense to purchase a domain name that spells out the item (ej. HP-Pavillion-DV6.com) and publish reviews, specs and information about the item there (using a blogging service like Tumbler or Wordpress)? Or redirect the domain name to a page on my site with that information? Or just create a page on my site with that information and create back-links to it? Thanks in advance for your taking the time to respond and for your invaluable feedback. Respectfully, Mitchell.

What's better, lots of keyword targeted pages or fewer pages with more traffic going into them?
We have just introduced targeted pages for all of our keywords, however their is lots of overlap with existing established pages. For instance for the keyword Small Meeting Rooms we have the new page, titled Small-Meeting-Rooms which is now competing with the more established Meeting-Rooms. Its early days for both pages, about 2 weeks and 6 weeks respectively. But is it counterproductive to spread out our search juice between lost of pages? Should we just focus on a few? Any feedback, especially feedback based on real experiences is much appreciated!?

Can I target the same keywords on multiple sites?
I am launching a series of geographically specific sites to support my main website. Is there any problem with targeting the same keywords on both sites?

Optimizing for two nearly identical keywords.
Hi Mozzers, So in one of my campaigns I'm trying to optimize for "Personal Trainer Minneapolis" and "Minneapolis Personal Trainer". Would the best tactic be: Develop and optimize two pages. Â One for each of these similar keywords. Â (Clearly not the best UX). or Try to optimize a single page for both. Thanks for your thoughts!
