How do I "link" up with USA based SEO's

After 28 long years of wait this year I finally made it to the United States of America. I grew up on "The A Team" , "Knight Rider" and Mcdonalds cheese burgers from 2 years onwards.
I am as American as a English person could possibly be.
It wasn't until I arrived in Florida and spent two weeks in the great country that I understood the difference in the minds and mentality of people. People were nicer ! People on the whole had a can do mentaily.
If your a success people congratulate you for it . Unlike the UK....
Plus people were not scared to make a fool of themselves... (People jumping up and down at traffic lights with advertising boards)
Now to my question -
I loved it so much I want to go back and I figured me and my wife and 3 year old may have a extended break next time where I can work on vacation maybe over a month or so.
I would love to get to know as many SEO's and people based in the USA as possible please and introduce myself etc.
Hey who knows maybe SEO Moz can change my future (fingers crossed)

I was born and raised in Miami, Florida and have lived all of my adult life in California. The United States is a big country with huge variations in all aspects of human behavior. We have big cities and small towns. We have very friendly areas and equally rude areas. You can experience the full spectrum of humanity and your experiences will vary widely depending upon where you visit.
I can only guess that most countries including England are similar in that respect. Perhaps London is a busy city where people can bump into you and not say a word, but then there are smaller towns where a passerby will make eye contact with strangers and offer a friendly hello.
If you wish to make SEO friends in the US I can't think of a better idea then attending MozCon 2012! It's in Seattle which is a beautiful area. Hope to see you there.

I can get hundreds of natural links from real estate agent sites, but should I?
I have a website that generate leads for real estate agents nationwide. I have an auto email that sends out the referral agreement and in the email I ask them to place a link to our website on their site somewhere to be a part of the program. I can get as many as 10-15 links in a few hours in every major city in the U.S. Most realtor websites have websites that are new, or haven't posted blogs and have a Moz domain score of 1 and trust score of 1. I have been thinking of only selecting websites with descent Moz rankings instead of having all agents link to me, even ones with a low moz score. Are large property portals going to continue to dominate Google's search results?
We are having a discussion (potential argument) in our office around whether large portals (namely property portals) have longevity in Google's search. Argument 1:

Property portals are essentially duplicating content on smaller individually owned property websites, therefore in time Google will devalue property portals. **Argument 2: **
Property portals have more property stock listed on their websites so therefore Google will reward them by ranking these websites higher than the smaller real estate agencies with niche stock in their areas that they operate in. The property portals that already are already in a dominate position already carry authority and their own sense of branding, therefore it's difficult for Google to ignore them. If we assume that Google is looking into user behaviour as a ranking factor, then this will help portals as they have more stock which means higher engagement on the website. Changing Domains - How much link juice is lost with 301 redirect?
My company is thinking about rebranding and moving over to a new domain. While we dont have a lot of backlinks, we do have some very valuable ones that we hate to lose. That being said, I think we are in such an infancy that the backlinks we have shouldnt prevent us from rebranding if thats what we choose to do. I am just trying to get an idea of how moving to a new domain will effect the domain authority if we redirect all the pages? Is the best thing to do simply re-direct, or should we reach out to our most valuable links and let them know the domain/link has changed and hopefully they change their link to us? How much is lost by simply 301 every page? We are getting around 70 organic clicks per day and would rather not start from zero again 🙂
