Yahoo Directory - Which Category?

I'm submitting a law firm's site to the Yahoo paid directory. The location of the firm is in a suburb of the large city for that region, and that suburb is so small that there is no option for it under Cities. Obviously, the client wants to target the large city, not the suburb they're located in. Wondering if it's OK to submit the site to Yahoo under the category of the large city if the business is not technically located in that city. The address is clearly listed in the footer and on the contact page. Might Yahoo reject the submission for that, or will their editors realize there's no listing for the suburb and allow it?

If you're competing on a local basis and not looking to rise up the serps for a general keyword then you may see some traffic from people searching the Yahoo directory for a local listing, so therefore, probably go regional.
If you're targetting specfic keywords and hoping this will boost your ranking, then I would probably opt for the generic category.
You can also request for the site to be placed in up to 2 categories after submission here;
http://add.yahoo.com/fast/change/
So, once you're in, submit the request to the category you didn't pick as well

If I went the shallow, generic route, the best category would seem to be:
Business and Economy > Shopping and Services > Law > Firms
but there are 7 pages and 123 listings in this category, most of which are all large, multi-city, if not international, law firms.
The firm I'm looking to list has only one office with a handfull of employees. While they would certainly like to get new clients throughout the state of PA, for me (and I'm still a rookie at this), the most realistic SEO approach is to target the local metro area, which already has hundreds of law firms to compete with.
That said, which would you recommend? The deep category in the small pond, or the shallow category for a small fish swimming with the sharks? I can see the value in both instances, but I just have no experience with this to make a confident decision.

I would see no reason why that would be a problem for Yahoo.
It's worth bearing in mind that you typically want your listing to be as shallow as you can get it in the directory as possible. Deep links don't have as much link juice passed to them and are also less likely to be crawled on a frequent basis.
Is there a more shallow generic law category you can put the site in rather than deep in the regional listings? (This is assuming you're seeking the seo benefit of the link rather than people actually searching the Yahoo! directory?)

Directory listings for a new site and it's implications on SEO
Hi all, In classic newb style I have submitted my new site to several uk directory listings after seeing these listings used by competitors, both local and national. I chose ones with a low-spam score as shown on the Moz site explorer. Now my domain score has jumped up several places over a few days, as has my search position, but will these listings "hurt" in the future? I fully intend on chasing and gaining non-quick'n'easy links in the future for he record. Many thanks!

Directory Listing without Permission... Was your company listed here also likes ours?
We just found a backlink for our site from a brand spanking new, week-old directory site. We did not create this, so aside from submitting a request to remove it through their contact form (which we already did), do you have any other tips to get this removed beside submitting a disavow request. http://seo-company-in.com//United_States/North_Carolina/whiteboard-creations-cary-and-raleigh-nc-web-design-and-seo-service-267 Also, check to make sure your company isn't listed as well without your permission (not providing a functioning link back for them, but enter in their domain to check it out. What should I look for when choosing a good article directory for SEO purposes?
I have been writing SEO content for blogs for the past year or so, but I am fairly new to article directories. With SEO in mind, what makes a particular article directory valuable? Currently I'm using EzineArticles and Squidoo; I liked Ezine in particular because of their thorough review process. I saw that recently Squidoo also amped up their checks for original content as a result of Google's stricter policies. I was interested in using HubPages also since they are good about reviewing content. I'm just curious how much factors like this reflect on an article directory SEO-wise. Are there any additional factors that set a a good article directory apart?

Does anyone have thoughts on doing mass directory submissions post penguin? I know the value of the links are pretty worthless I am considering a submission service for nothing more than to get my number of different c-blocks up Will directories be looked upon as link networks? Is worth it?

Hi, In the industry I am working in (education), we do have a lot of portals offering paid listings (for example profiles featuring a school, the courses you offer, sometimes with reviews etc). Almost all big competitors and big names normally do have these kind of listings.
