Face Book..your thoughts on promoting on main web site

I would like Facebook promotion opinions. I have a local business (Seattle painting contractor) and have built a fan page which engages our clients, local & national suppliers, friends and other contractors.
Our original intent was to use the fan page to promote our main website; we never added a prominent "like us" button on our main page, we did not want to convert for facebook when our best content was on our site.
I have been pleasantly surprised this past year how many fans we have accumulated by promotion and by accident. The main benefit has been rewarding engagement from other industry marketers such as Benjamin Moore paint company, and introductions to local design professionals..and these conversations once started continue by direct communication (email..phone).
I have just added a facebook link on my blog..see attached picture Join our 2500+ fans. Primarily because the visitors to the blog tend to be the sort that engage on Facebook vs the type that want a painting contractor (Google analytics traffic data and click through behavior). I now have more traffic to the blog than the front end site.
What do you think of the button? What else should be promoting?

If you're getting good engagement with Facebook, you're doing something right and I would be inclined to jump in and leverage your success here to holistically improve your performance across Search & Social. The focus of any SEO campaign should ultimately not be better rankings in Google, but better conversions and more traffic. If FB is helping you to achieve this - awesome. To that end, the FB like button is a good idea for you as it helps to build your brand trust for any site visitors and encourages further engagement in your active social community.
That said.... the design of your button sucks. Sorry, I know that's harsh, but you'll be better off using the official FB like button which looks much more professional. i would use this one: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/plugins/like-box/ The same goes for your G+ button - use the one they've created, rather than your own version.
Another mega quick-win for you would be to implement the FB comments plugin:

This will quickly fix your issue of having no comments on your blog posts, plus encourage more engagement on FB and help to engagement the community there.

Promoting our blog posts. Effective ways and planning.
Hi Guys. I work for TOAD diaries, we make personalised journals and diaries. So we've taken a dive into blogging recently to help with brand awareness/ loyalty and increase traffic to our site. We don't have much of a social media following. So I'd like to know about other effective ways to promote them. The advice seems to range from extremely obvious and generic on the one hand i.e) post it to your Facebook, twitter etc, to seriously in depth, using a multitude of tools I've never heard of. I mean it's pretty overwhelming 😕 So I'd like to focus down on 5 or 10 ways I can 'get it out there' effectively. Any thoughts? What are the essential tools/ techniques/ jobs I should be doing? Etc etc. Note on our blogs: They are very different from one another, so far we've done how to make an origami boat and paper vs digital: part 1. We're also working on a time management piece at the moment. So they're all to do with paper, stationery, organisation, planning ect. But like I say each blog post is quite varied. Social Media + MOZ Open site explorer
Hello Everyone, When i run a report on Open site explorer, it says that our website has 129 Facebook likes and 129 tweets. However, our website has had over 4k Facebook likes and i imagine much more than 129 mentions of our url on twitter. Can any one shed any light on this? Thanks 🙂

Help to raise a charity's Face book profile to raise funds
Hi, I am new here and its my first question. I am helping a charity on pro-bono basis on their SEO. They do a great job by looking after terminally ill children with no costs to parents. 60% of their funding is through various fund raising events. They know some well known actors and sports personality who may be willing to help. What is the best Practice for Adding Social Buttons to your Sites from SEO Perspective?
Hey Guys, As you all know there are many social buttons out there that can be added to your website. Facebook Like button, Twitter's Tweet and Follow buttons, Google +1, and AddThis buttons are just a few to mention. All of these buttons can be customized, eg. you may choose to point your FB Like button to your homepage, to a specific inner page, or to your Facebook Brand Page. Same with your +1 button. Moreover, you may choose to add Twitter and Google+ Follow buttons to your site's pages, and so on. My questions are very simple: Is there any best practice for adding social buttons to your site from SEO perspective? if yes, Which social buttons to add? Will you be adding +1 to your sites?
I logged into my Adsense account yesterday and saw a notification that I could have code to add the plus one button to my site. I currently have addthis on most pages, so I set it up so that the +1 button is floated next to my Addthis FB, Twitter and Share buttons. I'd love to hear your personal thoughts on +1. Do you think it will have a great effect on rankings? Are you likely to +1 interesting sites as you surf the web? Are you adding it to all of your pages?

Is facebook and twitter always a good idea to promote a website and improve Google rankings?
I'm attempting to promote a fresh seafood market / restaurant here on the Sunshine Coast, Australia. I have not found a lot of examples of people using Twitter and Facebook to promote this type of business here. Is it hard to justify the time for return here? One benefit I thought for twitter is we could have tweets displayed on site giving us some dynamic content which would hopefully keep Google spider coming back more regularly is this correct? Is there any link building advantage to using these social media sites?
