Replacing Textual Prices with Graphics

Hello All:

Google snippets now include prices.

We feel it's causing less click throughs from search results.

Someone suggested to replace the textual prices with graphical prices. I worry Google will expect some sites to do this and penalize them for doing so.

Any thoughts or evidence in this regard?

I'm not sure there would be a problem, but why would you NOT want your prices in the Google results? The customer is going to eventually find out what your price is aren't they?

Replacing Slider Image WordPress

Hi Everyone, I decided to delete my slider from my homepage and replace it with a static image. However, after I deleted the slider, I'm left with a dark square where the slider used to be. I want to put my new static image in that same spot, but have no idea how. Does anyone know where or what code I should add to do that? Is it cloaking/hiding text if textual content is no longer accessible for mobile visitors on responsive webpages?

My company is implementing a responsive design for our website to better serve our mobile customers. However, when I reviewed the wireframes of the work our development company is doing, it became clear to me that, for many of our pages, large parts of the textual content on the page, and most of our sidebar links, would no longer be accessible to a visitor using a mobile device. The content will still be indexable, but hidden from users using media queries. There would be no access point for a user to view much of the content on the page that's making it rank. This is not my understanding of best practices around responsive design. My interpretation of Google's guidelines on responsive design is that all of the content is served to both users and search engines, but displayed in a more accessible way to a user depending on their mobile device. For example, Wikipedia pages have introductory content, but hide most of the detailed info in tabs. All of the information is still there and accessible to a user...but you don't have to scroll through as much to get to what you want. To me, what our development company is proposing fits the definition of cloaking and/or hiding text and links - we'd be making available different content to search engines than users, and it seems to me that there's considerable risk to their interpretation of responsive design. I'm wondering what other people in the Moz community think about this - and whether anyone out there has any experience to share about inaccessable content on responsive webpages, and the SEO impact of this. Question re. crawlable textual content

I have a client who is struggling to fit crawlable textual content on their pages. I'm wondering if we can add a "Learn More..." feature that works as a mouse over pop up. When a page visitor runs their curser over the link or button, a window bubble pops up and textual content about the page will show. Not knowing much about code, can text in this format be crawlable by search engines and count as unique and relevant content? Thanks, Dino

Image Replacement Using Cufon (Javascript)

Our agency is working with an outside developer that has designed a beautiful site. The possible problem is that they used Cufon to change a large amount of the text on the page to an image of the text in a nicer font. On some pages all of the text is replaced and on others its about 20%. The text that is replaced is identical to what is shown to the user. I realize that Google has stated that sIFR (similar to Cufon) is okay, in a limited way years ago, but I am stil a little leery of the large amount of image replacement that is happening. I am also worried about user experience, should flash not be enabled or it is slower to load. So I have a couple questions. 1. Would this amount of image replacment raise a flag to Google, especially since it is the heading tags and large chunks of the body content both? 2. I know about 2% of the site's users do not have javascript enabled. Do you have an idea of what percentage of people have issues, like slow connection speeds or slow computers, using javascript even if it is enabled?

Replaceing text prices with graphics

Hello all: You probably noticed Google showing product prices in SERP snippets and this did not do us well because there was a noticable drop off in click throughs to the site with the price displaying in snippet. So we're replacing them with graphic prices instead. Does anyone see a problem with that in as far as how Google ranks our pages? Thanks!

Wordpress Design Pricing

Why on earth did you say you could get a quality template designed and coded for a few hundred bucks? Im a professional designer, I expect to make 75 an hour which is actually low. And you think I should be able to design and code a high quality wordpress site in a few hours. You are killing my business and encouraging people to hire low quality developers or take work out of America. Im very offended by your comments. Why dont you try living on 5 bucks an hour !! You just spit in the face of all good designers.
