What is the best way to upload an image for SEO
-
I have a site that is largely based on images. It runs on Wordpress. Each page has about 10 images. What is the best way to upload images?
-
As a WP gallery.
-
As another gallery (with a gallery plugin)
-
As seperate images uploaded via WP (it shows a thumbnail which is links to the larger image). That way each image can have a title.
-
As seperate images uploaded via FTP in which case I would then make a thumbnail which will link to the larger image. This option would only be good if WP does not optomize the thumbnail images that it creates.
-
As a text title which links to the image.
Since most of my content is based on images and mostly comes from Google images I was wondering what the best method to use is.

The best way is to make sure you have a alt tag, and use the imageobject schema to mark it up.

Agree with Robert, however you chose to manage / present your images is up to you and will be dependant on the number of images and how frequently you're uploading etc.
What matters more is giving your images context and meaning by (as Robert says) great captions that describe the image, good titles that help make your the images accessible to those using screen readers and search engines.
Grouping images by category and adding a good category description that helps provide context can help.

Nicole,
Since you are using WP, I think it would be easiest and do not know of an SEO loss with WP media gallery. With that, all images are at your fingertips for any editing you may wish to do whenever you wish to do it.
Make sure you have given each img a good alt text description of up to about 140 characters. (Do not try to keyword stuff, etc. - imagine you are blind "seeing the image" by description). Do not over edit the image when you upload it as once you have compressed, cropped, etc. that image you cannot reverse it. Or save two in the media gallery and title one edited and one unedit in case you wish to make a later change.
You have the option of titles and captions and I would create my own on both in order to accurately portray my message about the image. (I believe both are important in SEO. Captions do help the reader.)

Impact of Non SEO Subdomains
My company has several subdomains whose specific purpose is to act as a landing page/site for our paid search and/or email program. One of the things I've noticed on these subdomains is that they are not being excluded from the SEObots. Could the lack of proper SEO techniques on these subdomains impact our main www subdomain? What is the proper configuration we should use to make sure these sites are not considered for SEO?

Image Duplication
I'm feeling strong! Ok, so can Google penalise a website which has "duplicated images" - coming from a completely independent website?

We are having a business operating out of three cities A, B and C with A being the primary address and the business provides its services in B and C as well. Business has decided to shut shop in C and instead add D as another city. Currently the URLs are like www.domainname.com/A/productswww.domainname.com/B/productswww.domainname.com/C/productsPlease help us in understanding the best way to inform google that City C is non operational now.Do we need to do the redirects, and if yes, should we do the redirects to Home Page?Or can we just remove the C city URLs from the webmaster tool and inform Google.

Which URL structure holds the best SEO value?
Hello Community! We are rewriting URLs to better rank and provide better visual usability to our visitors. Would it be better to serve a URL that looks like this: www.domain.com/category-subcategory or www.domain.com/category/subcategory Please note the slight difference--the 2nd URL calls out a category that has a subcategory under it. Would it give us more value? Does it make a difference? Thanks in advance!

Minor SEO for Yahoo and Bing
Over the past year, we have completely optimized one of the sites we manage for Google (removed bad links, reduced keyword count, etc) and we are doing great for Google organic traffic. However, in the process we have seen a steady decline in Yahoo organic traffic and Bing organic traffic. Enough so that I am looking for suggestions for quick fixes that aren't going to interfere with the Google optimizations that we made. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks for your help!

Internal vs external blog and best way to set up
I have a client that has two domians registered - one uses www.keywordaustralia.com the other uses www.keywordaelaide.com He had already bought and used the first domain when he came to me I suggested the second as being worth buying as going for a more local keyword would be more appropriate. Now I have suggested to him that a blog would be a worthy use of the second domain and a way to build links to his site - however I am reading that as all links will be from the same site it wont be worth much in the long run and an internal blog is better as it means updated content on his site. should i use the second domain for blog, or just 301 the second domain to his first domain. Or is it viable to use the second domain as the blog and just set up an rss feed on his page ? Is there a way to have the second domain somehow 'linked' to his first domain with the blog so that google sees them as connected ? NOOBIE o_0
