Can anyone tell me where the best sites for publishing my news pr articles to help with SEO?
I have a business that is based in Cambridge, UK - So local SEO is best!

If it is a press release, the most popular PR submission sites can be worthwhile. In the US, PRWeb is pretty good because news sites will see the story and republish the press release or write about it and link to your site. It helps a lot if your story is interesting. Another tip is to use a tool like Followerwonk to find journalists on Twitter in your area and then build a relationship with them. In the US we also have Help A Reporter Out http://www.helpareporter.com/ where you can list yourself or your CEO as a source so reporters can contact you if they have a specific question or need a quote from an expert in a specific area.

We've built a bunch of backlinks for our old website, which now redirect to the new one, and I was wondering if these still contribute to SEO? Is there a difference in the SEO effect of a direct link versus a redirected one?

Article submission web-sites and SEO
Does article submission web-sites have any impact to SEO in these days? There are a lot of good/not so good article submission databases, but does it really matter if you spend a time to write unique articles for them? I mean, is it a good way for link-building, or should I spend more time for other parts of SEO? There are also a special websites (for example SubmitYourArticle) which automate this process, does it make sense to use this services? Alternates? Lots of questions… Update Sorry, I found some good answers only after that I posted this question.

SEO Fightback
I just got a spam email company (SEO FIghtback) that claims they can create backlinks through trusted Wordpress networks that cannot ever be rejected by google. I believe it to be just another linking company wanting to suck $97 bucks a month out of me, I thought I would ask the experts on this site. The video was cool....for about 30 second......but that is all I could handle. It ultimately became one of the most irritating commericals ever and truly grated on my last nerve. Thanks

Anyone Still Use Article Directories?
Thinking of phasing this out. Too many spammy links in these. Does anyone still use article websites for 'white hat' SEO? E.g. create a high-quality article, then post it using 'branded' anchor text, e.g. link is the name of the business or URL.

So prior to joining SEOmoz I have tried a few seo companies and had somewhat decent results. All of these companies did things like: directory submissions

blog comments
article syndication
press release and so forth. These things that they were doing worked and improved the rankings of my websites in the serps. After some time and research I figured out that all this stuff was easy to do and that I could do these things myself. After joining SEOmoz I come to find that these types of links are not considered high quality because they are easy to acquire. Some of you may even say that they are the basis of a spammy link profile. My question is why would you not want to do these things if they work and all of your competition is using these strategies, including big name brand companies?0 -
Great Article - Where do i publish it
I have just completed a great article (relating to advertising). I have a predicament, where do I post it? Do I contact sites related to the industry with high pr's and authority, to see if they want to feature the article? This will provide great anchor text links from the high pr site in question. Or do i submit to article directories? Or do i simply place the article on my site, and get people to link to it? I need help!!!! Thanks in advance. P.S. I'm a newbie (I'm sure you can tell)
