GOOGLE Rankings
-
We built a site for one of our clients about 3 years ago and added Meta tags to each page of the site. But when you do a google search on the keywords the site still does not come up. I thought it would be spidered into the system by now. Web Site - www.specialtysealgroup.com Let me know what we can do to improve our GOOGLE rankings.

I think you need to be clear that by Meta-tags, you're referring to meta-description (and title). I agree, getting these right can make a real difference. With a compelling title and meta-description you can get more than your fair share of traffic, even if you don't rank #1! All you need to do it get the searcher to believe that they are going to find what they're looking for!
Meta-Keywords is probably best ignored. I believe there is a risk that Bing make use an over-stuffed meta-keywords tag as a negative signal.
-
Meta tags are not totally unimportant. They do help to theme and page and can clearly add click through rates if they are well written with a clear call to action. However they will not get your site ranked on its own. As others have mentioned you need to undertake a clear and focus linking building campaign to the homepage and subpages of the sites.
-
Meta keywords are being phased out - it was a good way to keyword stuff and influence the prehistoric search engines but these days Google, Bing, Yahoo, Blekko etc are quite savvy & ignore these often-manipulated tags.
-
Setting your keywords meta-tags isn't going to help. Take a look at the the Beginners Guide to SEO for a good overview of things you need to consider to get your page ranking.
The website has a very low domain authority which suggest that some additional links would be a good idea! The guide covers link building and why this is important.

While your question is a bit vague, here are some things to check out: their are quite a few more factors that affect search rank than meta tags. Check out this site for more Google ranking factors.
Also check out Google Webmaster Tools, and you can check out anything that might be plaguing the site. You can also add your xml site map there.
Good luck,
Drew

Hi Dave
From what I can see the site is in the Google index after I searched info:www.specialtysealgroup.com
A quick search in OSE shows me that you only have 2 links pointing this page a PA of 19 and DA of 8
Your clients competitors will no doubt have much higher PA/DA and lots more links to their pages, and therefore Google will value these pages more than your clients.
I recommend you consult a reputable SEO agency to discuss a link building campaign.

The site has very low domain authority (a measure of inbound links).
I think you'd be best served to do some link building for this site. It will not rank for any competitive keywords without more links from quality websites.
Links are how Google decides a site is worth ranking for a relevant keyword.
If you're new to link building, I'd start here: The Professional Guide to Link Building.
This post, originally from YOUmoz but promoted to the main blog back in 2008, still holds a lot of value as well: Link Building Notes of an SEO Kindergartner.

What to do with PDFs that rank well?
Looking at some reports, I found that a client's site has PDFs that are ranking well for niche terms and getting some traffic. What can I do to get more out of them from a marketing standpoint? The obvious issue is that a PDF doesn't have the interactivity of a site visit, where we have analytics and CTAs. Someone has to follow a link back from the PDF to the site for us to even register a visit, let alone try to get their email or have them otherwise convert. My first guess is to make landing page summaries of the PDF content that link to the PDF, and canonical the PDF to the respective landing page. Has anyone tried this, or done something else that they would recommend again in this situation?

Video SEO for Google
I was wondering what the prime factors were to make something rank for a video on Google. Does anyone have any suggestions? I think that length may be important, but I don't know what the ideal run time is. Hypothetically for local SEO, would I be better off doing a tag like "Mercedes Buffalo NY" or do individual tags of "Mercedes" and "Buffalo" Thanks!

Multiple Google+ Local (Google Place) under one email address
As a automotive dealership group, we have 15+ business listings set up under one Google+ local account. Google+ Local (Google Places) offers the ability to upload a data file for 10+ listings, so we've kept all listings under one login for efficiency. Is there any specific local SEO benefit or any general benefit at all to having each business listing set up under their own separate email address?

Ranking with other pages not index
The site ranks on page 4-5 with other page like privacy, about us, term pages. I encounter this problem allot in the last weeks; this usually occurs after the page sits 1-2 months on page 1 for the terms. I'm thinking of to much use the same anchor as a primary issue. The sites in questions are 1-5 pages microniche sites. Any suggestions is appreciated. Thank You
