Google Analytics censoring keywords?
-
The top keyword on our real time GA is showing as a blank.
There's a topic of a sexual nature in our talk threads trending on Twitter right now which is driving a lot of traffic and I'm wondering whether Google have censored the keyword.
The next few keywords are our name and variants of.
Could there be some other reason why this word isn't showing up? Has anyone else experienced this?
-
Yeah. While that definitely seems odd, real time GA is still a beta product, and would not be surprised if the occasional oddity occurs.
Your situation is the one I'd be concerned about. Do let me know if your tech team is aware of any customization going on.
-
I somehow doubt it but will ask our tech dept. Meanwhile Rasmus (above) has also been getting the blank keyword in Real Time GA.
-
I've never heard any reports of Google censoring keywords (unless you count <not provided="">as censoring).</not>
I honestly have no idea what could be causing this. Do you have any customizations to your tracking code?
-
Thanks for that. Maybe I'm being dense but if it's a list of the top 10 keywords, then shouldn't that refer specifically to visitors arriving via search?
-
Actually our top keyword in the real time GA is also blank. And we have NO sexual content or keywords of any explicit nature which should lead to censorship. So I do not think you can conclude this.
What the reason can be I do simply not know. Could it simply be users which have not entered the site using a search engine? I think it is. We have 84 online users now and 45 without keywords. Typically we have a search engine rate of 45% approx, so this seems to be a plausible explanation.

More 'New users' than 'Users' in Google Analytics
Hey Mozzers, I'm seeing more 'New users' than 'Users' in Google Analytics (see screenshot). This is over a 3 year time period. Any idea why new users would be greater than users? Thanks! 6lYmU0j

How To Stop Google's "Fetch & Render" From Showing Up In Google Analytics
Hi all, Within Google's "Fetch & Render" (found in Google Search Console) is the ability to index certain pages from my website on-demand. Unfortunately, every time I ask Google to index a page, it registers as a bounce in Google Analytics. Also, if it means anything, my website (www.knowtro.com) is a single-page application, functioning similarly to Google. If you guys know of any solution to this problem, please help! I originally thought that Google would know to block its own Fetch & Render crawler from Google Analytics but that doesn't seem to be the case. Thanks, Austin

Google Analytics: Multi channel funnel
Hi 🙂 I have a little problem. In Multi-channel Funnel Overview I see 50 conversions from Paid Search (screenshot 1). But when I click on Assisted Conversion and then choose Paid Search, I see 31 Assisted Conversions and 32 Last Interaction Conversion. (screenshot 2) So my question is - why the number of converstions in overview (50) is different than number in Assisted Conversions (assisted or last interaction conversion, or both together)? Probably, the answer is so simply, but I can found out it! 🙂 thanks a lot. X6UihL7.png lCNsw4T.png

Google Analytics and DNS change
Our new alumni application is going be tested at domain uva.imodules.com . We are going to collect traffic data with a Google analytics account number UA-884652-XX. So going to uva.imodules.com/myPage.html would send its data to Google Analytics with that account number. Then when it is ready for production we are going to just change the domain name of the application and switch the DNS over to dardencommunity.darden.virginia.edu . So going to dardencommunity.darden.virginia.edu /myPage.html would send its data to Google Analtics with that SAME account number. Aside from having the testing domain data in the same profile are there any other issues/problems we may run into?

Google Analytics
Hello In Google analytics you can obtain the number of visits as a result of non-paid search. You can also set up custom reports to find the number of organic searches. The numbers are different, so what is the obvious difference between these two metrics that I'm missing. Thanks in advance for any assistance. Neil

Individual or Separate Google Analytics Accounts for Each Country Location?
We have 3 websites. USA, Germany and UK. Currently our analytics account is set up with 1 account with each domain as a Profile. I am wondering if I would see more accurate results if I have them set up individually, under the same Google account, but different Analytic accounts. The reason I wonder is because I noticed when I was going through setting this up, it asked for each Country Time Zone for each domain. I was not sure if this was for me to see the times, or if this was to provide more accurate data. Maybe this is just a personal preference topic?
