Number of Visitor Entries to page via search engine
-
Hi,
I wanted to figure out the most optimal way to track the number of visitors that comes to a specific page on my blog via search engine only.
I know Google Analytics has a "top landing page" filter, but that includes all visitors that comes in directly or other channels.
Is there a way to figure out how many visitors a certain page received that was generated through only search engine?
Does SEOmoz have this capability?

You are welcome.
Once you have done that I'd really suggest reading up on advanced segments. They are incredibly useful and, as you have seen, really simple to use. Besides the pre-built ones you can also create your own.
-
Thanks a ton. This was extremely helpful and so easy. That advanced segments was so small to see, I can't believe i missed it.
Again, thanks for your help!

If you have Google Analytics running on your site then that is the best tool for this particular job.
There are actually a few ways to get the data you want, however my preference is using Advanced Segments - which are simpler than they sound.
When looking at data in Google Analytics, the default view is "all visitors". So, if you are looking at top landing pages then that shows you the top landing pages for all visitors. However you can very easily select only to look at one segment of traffic: In your example this would be organic search traffic.
- To do this first view the landing pages report, as usual.
- Then look for the "advanced segment" drop down towards the top of the page
- Select "non paid search traffic"
- Click apply
You will now see that the data has changed and the overall numbers have dropped. You can now click through the landing pages to see the number of search referrers for each.
If you can't immediately see the one you are looking for try typing it's URI in to the filter box.

Will adjusted bounce rate affect avg time on page?
I recently read Rob Beirne's piece on how and why to set up an adjusted bounce rate in Google Analytics (https://moz.com/blog/adjusted-bounce-rate). I am getting myself ready to talk to our site team about why we should set up an adjusted bounce rate and am anticipating some questions I'd like to be able to answer: 1. Will an adjusted bounce rate improve the accuracy of our avg time on page metrics? 2. Are we able to keep the unadjusted bounce rate in GA as well, so we can compare the two metrics if we ever need to? Does anyone know the answers to these questions? Any help would be much appreciated!

Change Phone Number Based on Traffic Source + Ping URL for Call Tracking Number
Hi Everyone, Is there a tool that can change the phone number on a web page based on the visitor source (i.e., direct, organic, paid, etc.)? I'd like to implement a solution like this with different call tracking numbers based on the visitor source. We use the Google suite for our analytics (GA, GTM, Google Data Studio, Google Optimize is also an option as well). - Also, is there a good call tracking service that will ping a URL each time the phone number is called so that we can track these calls as events in GA? The majority of our visitors use a desktop PC and dial in the number on the screen rather than clicking (tapping) on it from a mobile device. Thanks, Andy

Google Search Console - Click Count Inconsistency
In Google's search console I see a discrepancy between click counts. At top I see this here and then beneath I see these kinds of numbers for click counts here. So the top click count says 252 and the bottom section appears to only shows less than 40. Probably a simple explanation here that I'm just not seeing. Thanks!

When analysing my inbound anchor text am I using by page or site?
When checking to see my anchor text profile to make sure it's not too dense with the same phrases, should I be measuring against my whole site or page specific? eg if i have 100 links across my site and 20 are for the same phrase this is 20%, but if the same 20 phrases are to one page and that page has 40 links this is 55% Many thanks Ash

Local site rankings have dropped off first page but Universal went up.
My site was performing first page locally on 6 of 20 keywords, and universally on 3 of 20 keywords. We started a link building campaign and optimization about 3 weeks ago. When I looked at the rankings today I was happy to see that 16 of 20 keywords were in the top 20 rankings universally, but not happy to see that only 1 of the 25 words were ranking locally now. I lost my local ranking on 5 very important keywords. I realize that you can not rank first page for both local and organic but its as if I traded my first page local ranking for a universal ranking that appears lower on the page. Maybe someone could point me in the right direction.

Search within search? Weird google URLs
Good morning afternoon, how are you guys doing today? I'm experiencing a few Panda issues I'm trying to fix, and I was hoping I could get some help here about one of my problems. I used Google analytics to extract pages people land on after a Google search. I'm trying to identify thin pages that potentially harm my website as a whole. It turns out I have a bunch of pages in the likes of the following: /search?cd=15&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=uk&source=www.google .co.uk, and so on for a bunch of countries (.fi, .com, .sg, .pk, and so on, maybe 50 of them) My question is: what are those pages? their stats are awful, usually 1 visitor, 100% bounce rate, and 0 links. Do you think they can explain my dramatic drop in traffic following Panda? If so, what should I do with them? NOINDEX? Deletion? What would you suggest? I also have a lot of links in the likes of the following: /google-search?cx=partner-pub-6553421918056260:armz8yts3ql&cof=FORID:10&ie=ISO-8859-1&sa=Search&siteurl=www.mysite.com/content/article They lead to custom search pages. What should I do with them? Almost two weeks ago, Dr. Pete posted an article untitled Fat Panda and Thin Content in which he deals with "search within search" and how they might be targeted by Panda. Do you think this is the issue I'm facing? Any suggestion/help would be much appreciated! Thanks a lot and have a great day 🙂
