Keyword Repetition in Title Tag
-
I am managing an online pharmacy website which has thousands of pages. I'm creating title tags for the pages that currently have automated tags.
I generally choose a word, find the next best alternative and merge them in the title.
Often this results in repetition of 2-3 words.Examples below:-
Title:- Skincare Treatment, Buy Skincare Products Discounted at Online PharmacyTitle:- Nebulisers, Buy Nebulisers UK Discounted at Online Pharmacy
Title:- Electronic Dictionaries, Buy Best Electronic Dictionaries Discounted at Online Pharmacy
Title:- Cat Skin Care, Buy Cat Skin Care Products Discounted at Online Pharmacy
Are these OK or would Google penalize us for it?
-
Yes, you are within the acceptable range, save for maybe these two: **Maybe remove what I **emboldened
Title:- Electronic Dictionaries, Buy Best Electronic Dictionaries Discounted at Online Pharmacy
Title:- Cat Skin Care, Buy Cat Skin Care Products Discounted at Online Pharmacy

As to the first question (are they OK)- They are just keywords/phrases essentially. If you believe that is the way to improve your lot with this portion of on site, I guess they are OK. But, they are pretty much spammy titles IMHO.
So, the way to change that is to follow a bit of convention as opposed to seeing what you can get in the 65-70 characters:
Let's say your site is Cool Online Pharmacy then for Cat Skin Care I would have a title tag like this:Discounted Skincare Products for Cats | Cool Online Pharmacy (I do not believe there is a need for the word buy, but will get some disagreement on that I am sure)
Then: For Nebulisers Nebulisers | Discount Nebulisers | Cool Online Pharmacy
I don't think based on title tag alone that you would face a penalty doing these the way you have them. I do think that they look terrible and people will see them as poorly done. By having the brand second after the pipe ( | ) you are branding the site and at the same time insuring your keywords are first.
Best
Edit: You do not need UK in the title tag if site is a ccTLD, if GWMT is set to EN - UK, or if server is in UK. (You need to follow one of these anyway so you do not need UK in title)

Regarding Google Title 'Width' and changing Meta Titles w/o Penalty?
A vast majority of pages on my site are now too wide (the character count was fine prior to the March update). I want to go through and update them so they display properly and are not too wide. However, I am concerned, as my understanding was that changing Meta Titles is dangerous and can have a negative effect on your rankings and can cause real issues. Is this an opportunity to change my Titles all-together without any kind of penalty? Or can I only trim the end part? In summary: 1. Can I edit all of my Meta Titles without affecting my rankings? 2. If no, how do I edit them properly to fit within the proper width and not cause any issues? 3. If yes, I can go through and change all my Meta Titles to whatever extent and optimize them to reflect latest best practices? There are changes I wanted to make to all my meta titles but I've been afraid to... due to fear of rankings drops etc Any help with this would be greatly appreciated

Also did the same for archive pages example.com/page-2/ and facing the same problems. I need to clear as much errors as I can in the software so I can see the real remaining errors in the website. Help will be highly appreciated. Thanks.

H1 tag mandatory?
Hi there! Is a mandatory to fullfill the H1 tag in order to improve SEO? I mean I'm in the case where the keyword selected is appropiate to optimize the page but not appropiate to be in H1 tag 'cause it probably "doesn't sound good" to the user. Is it enought to be present in the url, title and description?Any suggestion? Thanks in advanced.

Does a phone number in the title tag hurt your rankings in SERP?
Hi Mozzers, One of my client is a carpet cleaner and I was wondering if adding a phone number into the title tags would hurt our rankings . I am asking because the client has mentioned it and that we do have some space to add a phone number into the tag. Thanks

How to add canonical tag
Hi, I read through many of the forum questions dealing with the overly dynamic URLS and I think I understand. Please let me know if I know what I am talking about: If SEO moz is saying I have 20 pages (mostly search and home/index pages) with overly dynamic urls, I would go to the that particular page and add the following code between the head tag: This code would cause Google to go to this page instead of the following duplicate index pages: 1. http://www.about-sports-collectibles.com/index.php?pcsid=0a83aa7119cf3d80a1d018634ec4ec94&p 2. http://www.about-sports-collectibles.com/index.php?pcsid=18b220fc62628b013a51c6f26209df50&p There are a total of about 8 of these index pages. The problem is that I can't figure out where I would access each of these duplicate pages to add the canonical tag. There is only one home page with coding. As far as the search pages are concerned, I would not want Google to follow those pages would I? If that is the case, what would be the best code to add between the tags? For instance here are a couple of the overly-dynamic URL pages for the search pages: 1. http://www.about-sports-collectibles.com/index.php?p=catalog&mode=search&search_in=all&search_str= 2. http://www.about-sports-collectibles.com/index.php?pcsid=50354d5791e627dc2be6c86528154a5e&p=catalog&mode=search I hope I am not overwhelming anyone with my questions. I really am trying to get a handle on how Ll this stuff works. Thanks so much the help. Don
