Google ranking penalty
-
Do you think that our websites involvement with LinkMonster.com link building program is the cause of our penalty by google in our ranking ?

I used Open Site Explorer, which is available under the "Research Tools" section of SEOMoz. (look in the main menu above for "Research Tools" then look on the left of the page for the Open Site Explorer.
Just put your url in there, and it will bring up lots of links. Then just go and visit them to see what they are like. You can also filter for follows vs nofollows, and other attributes, depending on what you are looking for. I just opened up a half dozen or so of them to get a feel for your links, and found what I mentioned above.
There are other tools too, such as Raven Tools, which could also show these to you, but since you are a pro member, you might as well use SEOMoz tools.

Yes I do have webmaster tools and that is how I found the message from google abourt the problem.
It is mainly the home page and keywords using the "tampa web design" and its variations.
Yes it has been effected in the last month.

Do you have access to webmaster tools? If so did you receive a notification from Google informing you about unnatural links found pointing into your domain?
Are your ranking penalties site wide or tied to specific keywords and pages where you have focused heavy link building activities?
If you've just recently been hit then I suspect its entirely down to the unnatural link algo that seems to be doing the rounds at the moment. There is an excellent article on it here:

Why should I pay attention to sites that rank well in Bing?
If Google has the most market share, why would I use Bing to find backlinks. This question relates to Raven Tools using backlinks found on Bing for their Domain Research tool? Wouldn't that make their tool inferior to one that uses Google? Thanks, Sam

Total Links vs Google Webmaster Site Links
I am interested why the numbers between SEOmoz and Google are so different. In SEOmoz we only show 17,000ish links from 190ish domains. In Google, we show 200,000+ links from 370 domains. Why is there such a dramatic difference?

Have I suffered a keyword specific penalty?
Hi all, We've been working on improving our ranking for a specific keyword for the past couple of months. Progress has been steady if not spectacular (it's a very competitive keyword). Last week we obtained (not bought!) a site wide link from a partner (nothing fishy, they are business partners in the same industry) as well as a link each from a relevant resource site and a directory with good PA/DA. The anchor text used on the new links is keyword rich. This week our rankings have fallen dramatically from page 2 to page 39 for our targeted page although other pages on our site still rank well for this keyword. The targeted page is still indexed by Google. Could Google just be reassessing our ranking for this page and it will return to its previous rank or is it likely it has received a keyword specific penalty? Thanks in advance.
