What are Branded Keywords
-
I see in the matrix the term branded keywords. What what is a branded keyword?
-
Non-branded: flannel lined jeans
Branded: Carhartt flannel lined jeans

Sometimes it's helpful to segment branded vs non-branded. I sell model warships that shoot and sink each other (a fairly small niche), and my company name is Strike Models (and was formerly a company called Swampworks).
If someone comes to me by searching Strike Models or Swampworks, they already know about me, and just want to find my site. I also rank high for these terms since it is my brand. If they search model battleships, then I have more of a feeling of accomplishment -- I've got a ton more competitors out there for that term, and here is someone who hasn't heard of my before that is a new potential customer.

Interesting, so for one of my sites it is KING of HUD, so people would have to start searching for me
KING of HUD
KINGofHUD
etc
Not sure why they would do that, but I guess that would be a huge positive sign of successful branding. It is funny we have been told forever now branding is dead it is all about SEO.

If your company is Acme Inc. any branded keyword is considered variations of your company name:
Acme
Acme Inc
Amce Inc
etc.
You figure out what regex works in google analytics or whatever analytics platform you have so you can filter these into groupings of branded and non branded when looking at traffic reports.

Does Search Console data include GMB traffic? Branded CTR is 37.8%- Good or Bad?
Hey all, Per Search Console our branded keyword CTR is 37.8%. But when that keyword is searched our GMB listing shows up on top of the #1 result. For the same 90 day period GMB shows another 35% visits to our GMB (based on the number of impressions and visits to our GMB page) listing when the same keyword is searched. My question is this. Does Search console data include clicks that came from our GMB listing or not? My thinking is like this: If GMB traffic is not calculated in search console then it means that 72.8% of people looking for our brand will end up on our site on way or another 9organic #1 result plus GMB listing visits) We are also doing PPC for this very keyword that has gets almost 20% of the remaining traffic. So after adding all up we are loosing about 8% of our branded traffic to people who are doing adwords. When you search our brand you normally see 2, 3 competitor's adwords ads. Does anyone know how this works exactly? And if you don't mind sharing your branded keyword CTR's, so I can compare to ours please. I would love to compare to a site that actually has a GMB listing ranking for the same keyword Thanks in advance, Davit

How do I create a segment that shows me all pages using a certain keyword? But nothing that doesn't have that keyword?
There must be an easy answer to this, but I can't seem to find it. All I want to do is create a segment in Google Analytics that shows all pages and search strings with "orthopaedics" in the title, with pageviews, uniques etc. If I simply navigate to "All Pages" in Google Analytics and then click Advanced Filters and do an Include Page Contains "orthopaedics" it works just fine. (See attached Screen Shot) But when I try to recreate this as a segment, it pulls in all other pages the users visited before arriving on the orthopaedics page I want to include, which I don't want. I can manually exclude each URL I don't want, but this is tedious and I feel there must be a simpler method I'm just missing. At the end of the day, I'm trying to create a list of every page and dynamically created query string that includes the word "orthopaedics" to say doctor X, your orthopaedics section generated X views, and here's a list of the pages. Does Google encryption of keyword data impact SEO revenue reporting in Google analytics?
Hi there, I know Google has been encrypting SEO keyword data which they rolled out in September 2013. My question is - will this impact SEO revenue figures reported in Google analytics? I have been monitoring SEO revenue figures for a client and they are significantly down even though rankings have not lowered. Is this because of Google's encryption? Could there be another reason? Many thanks!
