Short blog post or Long Blog post, Which works better?
-
I was thinking, that SEOmoz or other technical SEO blog writes long blog post which cracks my interest when i start reading few lines of the blog post. My mind speak, Wooo! so boring. In SEO what will be best post long or Short?
Thanks

Im with Goldilocks on this one. A blog post should not be too long, nor too short. It should be just right.
And as Moosa says, it should contain images and a touch of humour always breaks the monotony too.

This is a different question to me! Honestly it’s not about how long or short the post is it’s about the quality that it posses within it!
For me! Reading 1000+words that contain a case study or research is not at all boring but 700+ words of theory actually striking my mind.. woo! There is still lot more to go!
But still there are some tricks to entertain readers throughout the post, especially when its long and theory…
Add Images!
Images can help reader to go through the complete article without thinking of switching or moving to some other article. #ithinkitworks!
Humour:
It isn't possible all the time but if you can add punch lines and one line humour that fits with the post, most readers will love to read till the end!
Articles that are too long should reveal some of its awesomeness in the beginning and this will help reader to move till the end!

Are you talking about posts that are about SEO? Or would you like to know which is better SEO practice for all kinds of topics?
It depends on your writing skills and on how interested the audience you're targeting is. Nobody wants to read War and Peace, but at the same time, a very short post also offers very little value most of the time.
I'd say keep it to one page, give or take (maybe between 1,000 and 2,000 words) as a baseline, and you can vary that based on how good your stuff is, the feedback you get, and generally what you're trying to accomplish.
Basically as long as you can capture and hold a readers attention, and it doesn't feel like a chore to read the article/page, then you've done your job.
As far as the SEO merits of more content vs. less, I'd say the above still applies for the most part - compelling and valuable content is valuable regardless of the exact word count. As long as the page accomplishes what it needs to and is of high quality, you should be fine. But I wouldn't say you're likely to rank with 100 words on an article page.

In pure math SEO terms it is "The more - the better"
But it is about quality - not length. If you give your readers real value you will gain links to that post, no matter if it is 250 or 1250 words. If you write something epic who cares if it is shorter or longer and if it is epic it will not be boring
check example (saw that on seomoz newsletter):
http://pointblankseo.com/link-building-strategies
is it boring ? For sure not! Very long but in this case it is short if you count that almost all the link building methods carefully described in short terms!

Is it okay to delete old blog posts?
Hi All, I'm doing some SEO work on an entertainment (movies/tv/gaming) blog that started in 2011. Their recent articles have gained some popularity due to improved content and marketing, but there is some old stuff from the early days that was poorly written and gets virtually no traffic. These are mostly old news pieces. Out of approximately 10,000 articles, about 1,000 are receiving the lions share of the traffic. I feel like their good content is getting bogged down in a sea of crap. Would there be any harm in deleting some of those old posts? Is there a best practice for culling content? Thanks!

Guest Blogging
If I am looking to guest blog for back links, do I need to reciprocate and provide guest blogging opportunities for them on my site? OR is it better to ask other site's to link to articles on my client's page with the understanding I will link to their page (if they are not competition)? I am trying to do some link building for a bankruptcy lawyer and I am considering possibly searching out guest blogging in different cities/states. Bankruptcy is primarily a federal matter, so reaching out to neighboring states. Not sure the client will be interested in this or not, but it's something I am considering. A lot of law firms have contact information Thanks everyone!

Why do other sites rank higher for our blog content?
Our site has always allowed other sites to RSS feed our content. Recently, we've noticed that searches for a title of our blog post will rank 2 sites that only publish said content, while our links are nowhere to be seen on the SERPs for Google. Is there any way I can fix this or prod Google to adjust it for us? Background: We were ranked highly in many long tail keywords, but lost many of them in June 2013. During this time going forward, we received no manual action.

Can I share share my content with other sites either as a individual post or RSS or will I be encourage duplicate content on the web and upset Google
Hi, I have a new site http://www.homeforbusiness.co.uk. I want to encourage traffic to the site by sharing some of my content with other related websites which have a higher PR ranking and traffic for a link to my site. Is this going to upset Google re-duplicate content and devalue my site and stop any organic rankings in the future? Equally some high PR sites which have a good synergy with mine such as http://thewomensbusinessclubs.com/ allow me to add my RSS feed with their blog network. Is this a good thing to do or not for the same reasons as above? Or can I only do the above my creating fresh content? Thanks, Elizabeth Conley

Best way to get my Blog traffic
I've recently began blogging on my site. The content is all unique and useful and written properly without keyword stuffing... My question is, how do i go about getting people to see the blog (getting traffic to it) so that it can get linked to. I've created content that i believe people will naturally link to, the only problem is they're not finding my blog. Any advice on how to get my blog out into the world?! thanks

WordPress Guest Post Admin Access?
Is there a plugin or function in WordPress for a guest poster to just get admin access to control comments? Example: Big Brand X writes a guest post on www.yoursite.com. Big Brand X wants admin access to approve or delete comments on their guest on www.yoursite.com. Big Brand X doesn't want access to edit their guest post or any other post on www.yoursite.com, they just want admin access to manage the comments on their guest post. Is this possible? Thanks for the help!

Blog Anchor Text SEO Query
Apologies if the following is a basic question but I am just starting out with SEO and I have seen this quite a lot recently on sites I have been on. My question is if you have a self hosted blog e.g. blog.site.com or site.com/blog and you use keyword anchor text in your blog post does that bring SEO benefits in itself or does the blog post have to be shared/commented by readers to have an effect? I have seen/heard of many sites spending a lot of money getting copy done or spending their own time and resources starting a blog but the blogs remain unshared or comment-less. I am starting my own blog to go with my social media and website so I wanted to establish the basics. Thanks in advance guys.
