Hi Kandice,
Page Authority predicts the likelihood of a single page to rank well, regardless of its content. The higher the Page Authority, the greater the potential for that individual page to rank well in search results.

[http://www.seomoz.org/learn-seo/page-authority](Hi Mark, Appreciate your answer, but I think there might be some confusion as to what Page Authority represents. Page Authority predicts the likelihood of a single page to rank well, regardless of its content. More in this article here: http://www.seomoz.org/learn-seo/page-authority Unfortunately, PA isn't influenced by on-page optimization (although this is certainly an important factor for SEO) and links from .edu sites do not inherently boost your PA more than links from other sites. But we all love links from .edu sites. :))
Unfortunately, PA isn't influenced by on-page optimization (although this is certainly an important factor for SEO) and links from .edu sites do not inherently boost your PA more than links from other sites. But we all love links from .edu sites.
In short, the best way to increase PA is to get links from other pages with high PA (or many links from pages with lower PA) These can often be internal links from your own pages, but you'll often see better results from getting external links to these pages.
Hope this helps. Best of luck with your SEO!

Kandice,
I appreciate the simplicity of your question. Are you sitting down? This is one of the key fundamentals of basic SEO. Here are the answers.....
Every link you build for your site will be "graded" on the PA of the site you are linking to.
PA is a nebulous term. Thats why its so fun.....its like asking how much does your boyfriend or husband love you. You think its a lot and they might tell you a lot but they only love you as much as they love you.....google and other search engines won't tell you exactly what their algorithm does...so everyone guesses....seomoz domain authority is their guess at what the PA is. (SEOMOZ is kick ass and smarter than you and I and it is probably close to what Googles algorithm is).
If you want to increase your PA on specific pages, build links to your pages from high PA sites. The no brainers are .edu sites......if yu want to identify specific ones that are worth targeting, then use the open site explorer to identify the highest page authority sites your competition is using and then copy them......nothing wrong with that.
An even easier method of increasing your PA that most people forget about is on page optimization. google will look to your site for relevance and quality score for your keywords. if the on page optimization is sold, you will have a higher page authority for your keywords.
Hope this helps. if

Sending Domain Authority from Root www domain to *
Hello all Some advice please. Im working with a friend who has a website (obviously). Its based on wordpress and is accessible by the link http://exampledomain.com. The problem is he has some good links out there which are pointing at http://www.exampledomain.com. As yet Im uncertain how he has setup his DNS, he maybe is doing a forward which would leave the DA back with the www subdomain. What is his best practice to inherit those links into his actual domain? Thanks

Multiple on-page links to single domain
Hi, the main focus of my question is to add a bit more information to my client as to where they are going wrong. Firstly they have a directory on a third party domain with subdirectories containing all their product listings. All the links need to be no-follow for sure. However, from a link juice passing perspective if there are per page say 20-30 links to varying URLs on the same domain is it still the same sort of calculation that the link juice is sufficiently weakened that each link has little value, or because the links are to the same domain there is an extra (potential) filter going on?

Niche Market without impartial authority for links
We've had trouble with one of our brand websites for years now in SERP rankings. When I first started working here 3 years ago I stated that the site lacks a content foundation to build on. A large number of our pages do not have proper text content or had duplicate content, there was no consideration of keyword usage in any title or body copy, and there was absolutely no reason for anyone to want to link to the site. I'm not a copy writer so I've pushed to get one hired, if even just on a freelance basis, to at least get some kind of content on the pages that I could work our keywords into. I'm hoping that soon they will finally start listening to me and we'll get that content in place. However, even with the content we have the problem of our market not having an impartial authority site that we could be linked from to help us build our own authority. The current authorities for our keywords are competitors. They've been doing a better job with their SEO and for a lot longer than us. The nature of our business restricts us from displaying pricing on our site which I feel is another major strike against us when it comes to organic link backs. We do not sell direct, all of our sells are made through authorized dealers and each dealer has their own territory that does not compete with each other. Additionally we do not have a MSRP and even if we did our dealers would explode if we advertised it on the site since there is such a wide range of dealer pricing. The only good thing we have going for our site currently is a new redesigned layout that makes it easier for users to navigate and get the information they need. I feel it is still to cluttered but I have to make the brand manager happy and that person insists on adding clutter that is not necessary. Additionally we added a new tool to the website, a custom tool that uses javascript and canvas to allow visitors to build their own product and request a price from their local dealer. The links we have to our site right now are from PR sites and sites that do not have any authority in regard to our target keywords. A while back we asked our dealers to help out by adding a link to our site from theirs. This was initiated by a third party company who had delusions of understanding SEO and so the links our dealers have work great for ranking us for our brand name but not so much in regard to the keywords we want to place for. Plus not every dealer is doing it. Our top competitors have over 3x the links to their sites than we do so we have a lot of catching up to do in that respect. And when I look at the sites that are linking to them it's, again, news and PR sites mostly. My line of thinking currently is to get our content issues under control and get all of our dealers linking to our site with properly constructed anchor text. I'm also trying to push to have more and more frequent press releases sent out to a wider range of sites than we currently target. I want to submit the customizer tool we developed (6 months of work and improvements/additions to be done in the future, so we're kinda proud of it) to sites that like to link to such things but so far I've not been able to find any. I'm just not searching for the right thing to find them is my guess. A few other ideas I've had is to reduce the page depth of many of our pages, mainly our product pages since they're 4 levels deep right now. I'm not sure if that's worthwhile though. How important is the url structure and keyword usage in them and how many levels should I try to keep from exceeding? We have an infographic on our site that generated a few links, are things like that really worth the time and effort though? Would it be better to focus our attention on something else instead? What I want to know is if my thinking is right and if there is anything else we should be doing that I haven't thought of yet. Or if I'm off base with all of this and we need to be focusing on something else entirely. Thanks in advance for any help/insight!

Friendly and pages regular expression
Hi, I am trying to fix this with a reg expression but I dont know how. Here is the example: I would like to have my link like this: mysite.com/noticias/123/here-comes-the-title-page-2 I have a mod_rewrite rule with this: RewriteRule ^/noticias/([a-zA-Z0-9]+)/([a-zA-Z0-9-]+)-(pagina)-([0-9]+)$ /myphp.php?&id=$1&ipag=$4 [L,NC] It doesnt work. I think that the problem resides here ([a-zA-Z0-9-]+) because the title is split with "-" and the rule doenst know when the title finish. Now, if I have a rule like this it works: mysite.com/noticias/123/here-comes-the-title_page-2 RewriteRule ^/noticias/([a-zA-Z0-9]+)/([a-zA-Z0-9-]+)_(pagina)-([0-9]+)$ /myphp.php?&id=$1&ipag=$4 [L,NC] How can I fix this to have a "-pagina" instead of "_pagina" Thanks

Online Journal (Magazine) -- Past Issues pages
We're hoping to restructure the Past Issues pages for the online version of our twice-monthly medical journal. Right now the Current Issue page (sort of a truncated table of contents) gets replaced twice each month, when a new issue is available. The current location of for our past issues page is shown below: Home Page > News & Journals > Journals > American Family Physician > Past Issues Under Past Issues, there is a page for each year. 2011 - 2010 - 2009 - etc (back to 1998). Is there an advantage to putting all of the Past Issues on a single page? This would be 24 issues per year, which is just over 250 links on a single page and it would grow by 24 each year. I'll attach a couple of screen shots of ideas I'm considering. One is an expandable navigation using jQuery for each year, listing all Past Issues on a single page. The other is making the links to the 3 most recent issues available in the left nav across all Past Issues pages. Do you have other suggestions for how we might structure this? cydxG.png PDXT9.png
