Great Article - Where do i publish it
-
I have just completed a great article (relating to advertising). I have a predicament, where do I post it? Do I contact sites related to the industry with high pr's and authority, to see if they want to feature the article? This will provide great anchor text links from the high pr site in question. Or do i submit to article directories? Or do i simply place the article on my site, and get people to link to it?
I need help!!!!
Thanks in advance. P.S. I'm a newbie (I'm sure you can tell)

Ouch. All the thumbs down aren't really necessary. Margaret is just sharing what seems to be working for her. If it works for your niche, then go for it.

I agree with EGOL's advice.
Another thing to consider is, do you interact with other influencers in your niche? If you post a good piece on content on your site, are there influential people in mind who might reasonably tweet it and help you attract additional shares and links? If not, perhaps you should share the article on a more popular site and use it to start building some relationships which will result in future links coming your way. Start building a relationship with everyone who comments on your post or tweets the link.

If you have a "message to get out" then give that article to everybody everywhere.
If you hope that the article will attract traffic, likes, tweets, etc for your site then publish it on your site and on your site only.
Don't give your best content to anybody or they will get your traffic, likes, tweets, etc. Plus they will compete against you for your own keywords. And, that will give you duplicate content.
The only exception to the above is if you can place the article on a site where it will be seen by many many many more people than will see it on your own site.

Don't put it in article directories.
If you feel that you'd be able to build enough buzz around the article and gain links from having it on your site then do that. If it's a really, really, really AWESOME, once in a career type of article then definitely put it on your site.
If it's good and you want to build relationships within your industry specifically with the webmaster of another site then publish on that 3rd party.
Hope that helps.

We have been submitting our articles to "Ezine.com" and it seems to working quite well. Another site we are just beginning to use is PRWEB.com. You have to pay, but your articles are submitted to hundreds of news sites with the potential to be picked up by them (especially if it is in fact a high quality article).

Indirect Link Earning via dofollow Links In News Articles
Hello, MOZ SEO Gurus. I've been trying to think some deep thoughts on safe, effective link earning for news publishing sites, and wanted to run this up the flagpole and see if you salute. Our site is a biotech news service -- we pump out copious amounts of news content each day, which works well for driving traffic. That being said, we also want to rank some optimized landing pages as well. Take, for example, this page, which we'd like to rank for "secondary progressive MS" and related keywords: http://bionews-tx.com/secondary-progressive-ms/ Now, as far as I'm concerned, shopping this page around to MS influencers isn't easy. I can go to Foundational websites, blogs, etc., and say, "hey, we have this info page on SPMS, and I thought that you might find it helpful/want to link to it." But chances are, the MS influencers already have their own proprietary content on SPMS, and there isn't much value to linking to it. Therefore, I think that we'll get few link earning conversions on the effort. However, what if I take our Secondary Progressive MS landing page, and I link to it in a corresponding article about SPMS research, as I did here: http://bionews-tx.com/news/2014/01/30/secondary-progressive-ms-natalizumab-clinical-trial/ Then, I go to the drug developer who is at the center of this story and say to them, "hey, we recently covered your drug in the news, and I thought you might want to link to it." Then, we get a link from an MS drug developer to the news article, which in turn has a prominent anchor text, dofollow internal link to the landing page for SPMS. If the link from the drug developer is dofollow, then we flow page rank juice from the drug developer page to our news page to our landing page. To me, it's much easier to earn safe links this way than to try and shop the landing page itself. That being said, if we get a dofollow link on the news piece, we only get a diminished portion of page rank going to the landing page. Is this strategy viable? Is the indirect flow of page rank from a linking site to a news article to a landing page even worth it? I'd love to hear your thoughts. Thanks!

Do links from the second page of an article pass link juice?
I have been writing for some sites with a high overall page rank and the articles are being viewed as quality by search engines as well. However, they usually put a link to my site at the very end of the article and then break the article down into two pages to increase ad revenue. It seems that I'm not getting much credit for that link even if the page has a high SEOmoz/PR score. I want to know if I am getting the benefit from these links. If not, how do I make sure I get the most bang, even if my link is on a second page of the article? Here is an example of what I mean: http://www.forbes.com/sites/theyec/2012/08/22/kanban-for-customers-how-to-increase-transparency-in-your-business/

Does commenting on relevant articles positively impact our seo?
I have read conflicting perspectives on whether or not businesses should partake in relevant conversations on blogs' or articles' comments sections. Does anyone have insight on this?

Article submissions for link building- what sites do you still use?
Hey Everyone, Long-time SEO'er first time poster here. I've been doing SEO for around 5 years but since starting my company The Search Ninjas last year I've been so bogged down with client work that I feel like I'm starting to fall behind on what's still effective from a link building perspective since all of my clients are local businesses and since we've been focusing so much attention on Google Places. My question is- are there any general article sites that you still use for SEO since the Panda update last year (that you firmly believe still offer "juice"), or do you mainly focus on niche sites and guest-blogging? I'm looking for ideas regarding how to find content submission opportunities for clients for link building purposes. I'm familiar with Ontolo and the Whitespark Link Prospecting Tool in terms of ways to find opportunities (and of course cherrypicking competitors' links using OSE and SEOSpyglass), any other recommendations? Best, George ps clients are in legal niche for the most part if that helps you out, but this is mainly me looking for everyone's general opinion.
