How do you remove links TO your site?
-
Lots of old links to our wine rack store site from many years ago, how do I get these removed? block them? Not sure if Penguin got us because of these....
-
What kind of links are they? Do they contain spammy, non-related anchor text? If they are simply old links that don't exist any more or are from sites that have been devalued you should not worry too much about removing them. Google simply devalues the link juice running through them to your site.
It is true many sites have been devalued from Penguin, but it simply means that these sites don't pass any value onto your site - while they also do not harm your site unless they are of a bad or negative nature.

unfortunately this is the only way I'm aware of too, lots of legwork for little results...oh well

A lot of people have been asking this question recently.
At the moment the only way to do it is to email the webmaster and ask them to remove the link.

I recently changed my domain name and i see on moz that NOTHING is linking to my current domain (even though I have changed all of my links to go to my current domain name). Link building strategy - my weak link!
Please help me understand link building. I've read the articles on Moz, but they seem vague to me. Specific questions: 1. How do I get my webpage on good quality sites? 2. Guest blogging? Good or not? 3. What about when people pick up one of our blog stories and publish it on their site with a link back? Is that bad now because it is duplicate content??? 4. Forum posts with a link in the signature? Good or not? 5. Directories - I get it that these are no longer good... are they severely negative? Should I take them down. 6. PR - Looks like this is bad... right??? 7. Youtube - any value? 8. Pinterst, LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram? Any value to backlinks here? 9. What about sites like redit? 10. Anything else I should consider?

Creative link building ideas for law sites
I have a client who does not actively participate in the content writing or resource providing part of optimization or link building. I want to build some more links to the site outside of content spreading and guest blogging. I have read a lot of the recent articles on creative ways to build links but feel that most would not apply to this kind of site. Any ideas on creative link building methods for a law services info site?

Is it worth it to link to sites that link to you in guest posts?
Suppose you published a guest post on a quality site and you link to a previous guest post you have written for another site (which links to you). In theory you could send link juice to the page that links to you for a second order effect. Has anyone seen results from this tactic?

For a new site, does it matter which sites I get back links from first? I.e., are the first back links more important than later ones?
I've heard that when a site is new, the sources from which it gets its first back links are very important -- that the early links are more important for ranking than later links. Is this true. If so, what would be some good places to get these very first links? Thanks.
