How to build good content and choose right keywords.?
-
I have started building content for our website using the Wordpress tool. Now I wanted to know that I use GA and the Adwords keyword tool. I go in for exact matching keywords and have selected a few of them. How do I know if these keywords are actually the ones going to give me good traffic? How can I select good keywords and write content along them. I don't wish to over stuff articles with the keywords. How can I refrain from doing so. Any optimum limit through which I know how much of the keyword needs to occur how many times within an article? Please give some good insights as to how this is accomplished? Thanks

This is the strategy we have used for keyword research for the following article https://bookmerilab.com/blog/dr-lal-path-lab-rate-list/ 1. Check the area where we can get brand relevant traffic 2. See the keywords people are searching for while access whole articles 3. Use Moz keyword explorer to find the long-tail keywords with traffic potential. I hope this help.

Thanks.
I have issues with sorting out advanced segments in GA. I am selecting secondary dimension as keywords.
In the advanced segments I want to exclude the branded keyword of my firm called practo. Now I am excluding keyword containing practo still when I save this and see my result below I see practo in the secondary dimension:keyword.
I want to get only those keywords in GA through which users came in but those keywords should not contain the branded term "practo"
Anywhere I am going wrong with advanced segments?
what could be the correct way to do this.
Thanks

This article explains the Not Set in Google Analytics.

I have recently begun with my content and keyword selections.
I used the Adword's keyword tool and for eg: got a few keywords like
laser skin treatment
dermatology
dermatologists
cosmetic laser surgery
The competition for these are low and medium. Now what I understand is. If I wish to use them in my articles on content generation I can have them as medium and long tail keywords to write around.
So for eg: laser skin treatment = " Benefits of a laser skin treatment in India" and the url for this article could be /laser-skin-treatment
For dermatology = "best dermatology practices" url could be** /dermatology-practices**
Do the above happen to be the medium and long tail keywords? Am I going in the correct direction. How do I judge and come out with medium and long tail keywords. Please suggest
Thanks

Thanks for your advice. These mid to long tail keywords. Can I generate this easily via some tool.
I use the keyword tool in adwords will that help in doing so ?
As you suggested I looked up GA for ** Content -> Site Content section and then turn on the secondary dimension in the dropdown box of "keyword". **
I was looking under Site content>Pages - is that correct?
Now what I see is that there are some pages where the keyword column says (Not Set) what does this mean?
How do I correct this?

First make an outline of what visitors to your site "need to know" or "want to know".
Then write articles that address that content, crafting each one to target a keyword or two related to your topic.
After that you have a basic website that is worthy of visitors.
Then write supplemental articles that add more information where it is useful. Craft these to target secondary keywords.

If you are using Wordpress you will want to add the SEO for Wordpress plugin from Joost DeValk or something similar and make sure that you enable it's sitemap functionality. Once you do that you can add that sitemap to your Google Webmaster Tools account and that will greatly help in getting your pages of content added to Google.
It would be reasonable to write content focused at the mid to long tail keywords with medium competition (3, 4, or more words in the keyword) unless you have a super authoritative domain that has been out there and well respected by the search engines for years. High quality content is content that goes beyond the norm. If you are able to write something in 30 minutes, chances are it isn't very valuable to people searching for that keyword(s). Digrams, step by step articles, reviews, in depth data analysis, etc (not sure what you do) all help. But the question should always be, would people want to read this. If the answer is no, then it is best not to post it since it won't do well in search or with people.
In GA you can look at the pages you have written under the Content -> Site Content section and then turn on the secondary dimension in the dropdown box of "keyword". This will show you what keywords via organic or paid search brought visitors to that page of content.
Your goal isn't rankings, but are you getting more people to your site through more organic keywords each month. If you see that progress going up then you are doing good. Hope that helps some more.

Thanks for the advice. What I was trying to understand is that shall I start with keywords with low competency and then medium and progress towards the high competitive keywords to write content upon? When you mean high quality content.? What exactly can be done to make sure it's enriching? Call to actions, diagrams etc does that help evenly ? Once I have written it and wish to check upon if I am getting good enough rankings or users coming to my site via these content pages I am using GA as of now. So will google auto index those pages? Or I will have to do something extra in order to get new content pages index sooner? Thanks

This is an excellent article that was done on the content side of things to answer your question:
http://www.seomoz.org/learn-seo/on-page-factors
It is best not to target more than 3-4 keywords on any given page. Truly being natural is the best way to write the content. Use the keywords in a meaningful way and you don't have to have them in there exactly word for word. For example, if your targeting "Organic Pesticide" as a keyword, in your copy you could have a sentence like this, "Many growers are interested in finding pesticide that is natural and even organic. What are the benefits of an Organic Pesticide?" That is a rough example, but you have the keyword in there exactly once and naturally again earlier in the sentence. Really, thinking about it even this much can cause your copy to get to feel unnatural. Just write and then review and see areas where you may have come close to using your keywords and then go back and see if it makes sense to add them in those places. Make sure it is really high quality stuff you are writing as well.

How can I discover the Google ranking number for a keyword in Brazil?
Hello, how can I discover the Google ranking number for a keyword in Brazil location. I need to know what is the position in Brazil location for the keyword "ligação internacional" in the Google search engine for the webpage www.solaristelecom.com/ligacao-internacional. I tried to use the Moz tools to discover it but only shows that I am not in the top 50, then I want to know where I am, and if I am listed or not. I tried to search it in my browser and didn't show the name of my website. Thank you.

Optimising meta tags: How to write them perfectly without duplicating? Impact of using different keywords?
Hi friends, Generally most of the articles about tags are either title rag or header tags, but not about both. I would like to know how to write perfect title and header tags. How much they must be relevant and different? Can we use the same tags for title and H1? If we are planning to rank for different keywords, can that different keywords can be used? I'm really curious to see some interesting answers for this. Thanks

Who's doing canonical tags right, The Gap or Kohls?
Hi Moz, I'm working on an ecommerce site with categories, filter options, and sort options – teacherexpress.scholastic.com. Should I have canonical tags from all filter and sort options point to the category page like gap.com and llbean.com? or have all sort options point to the filtered page URL like kohls.com? I was under the impression that to use a canonical tag, the pages have to have the same content, meaning that Gap and L.L. Bean would be using canonical tags incorrectly. Using a filter changes the content, whereas using a sort option just changes the order. What would be the best way to deal with duplicate content for this site? Thanks for reading!

Still a good idea to have a niche store?
I have had a niche store since 2008. It has a higher conversion rate than my main site, and does fairly well. The site template is an exact copy of my main site, and all the product URLs are the same. The only difference is, it only has items from a certain category. My questions is, are niche store still a good idea? Will I be better of doing a page to page 301 to my main site, and just focus on a single site? Am I better of as far as SEO with one main site? If anyone has experience with this, I would like to hear about your experience. Any thoughts are appreciated.

How important is Social Media for building domain authority / Google rankings? Are there any cases?
I really would like to know if someone tested the importance of Social Media for Google rankings.
Algorithm Updates | | Seeders
Are there some sites who build authority only by doing good social media?
Ofcourse, I know it is all about the mix (content, linkbuilding, social media, etc.) but how important is it?
I know many sites who rank good without any form of social media, but I do not know any sites who do only social media and rank high. I hope there are some good cases which give good insight. ps. I know it becomes more and more important...0 -
Dropped off cliff for a partic keyword & can't find out why
At the beginning of Dec we ranked consistently in the top 3 for the keyword 'Suffolk' for the site www.suffolktouristguide.com (apge rank 4, thousands of quality inboud links, site age 5 years +). Since then we've been falling off a cliff and today aren't even in the top 50 for this search term, but most of our othr search terms are unaffected. Our SEOMoz grade remains A for 'Suffolk' and we haven't changed anything in that time that could have had such a material effect (knowingly at least). A similar issue happened to my other site www.suffolkhotelsguide.com back in April and it hasn't recovered despite grade A's on the homepage and key pages. We've checked internal broken links, page download times, external links (used the disavow tool and reconsideration request and got back 'We reviewed your site and found no manual actions by the webspam team that might affect your site's ranking in Google'); etc etc Any thoughts on what I can try next? All suggestions appreciated as I am completely stuck (& have spent a fortune on 'SEO experts' to no effect).
