Can i see the keywords my competitors are optimizing seo for?
-
Ideally, I would get a list of the keywords my competitors are targeting.

I would suggest you look at www.semrush.com
You can find all keywords (or most keywords) that a particular website is ranking for in Natural/Organic Search and also look at what they are doing in terms of PPC and so on.
I am sure you'll love this tool

As itrogers suggests you can get lost in what your competitors are doing and miss the real opportunities. They could be optimising for keywords in your industry with very low volume while missing the real volume and bread winners.
However there is no absolute way to see all keywords your competitors are optimising, although if they are optimising you should be able to analyse on-page aspects including H1, H2 tags, the meta keywords tag, meta title, bold text, anchor links. As suggested also look at their inbound links, have they got a high percentage of exact anchor links on a specific phrase?

There isn't any way you can get a finite list of everything they are optimizing for short of asking them, however, there are a few methods you can use to get a pretty good idea (assuming they are optimizing their site with best practices). -Check the title tag of their home page and main content pages. Look at other onsite factors, such as keywords in their headings tags (h1, h2, etc), bold text, and internal anchor text. -Although it isn't relevant to ranking- check the keywords meta tag. Some still stuff keywords in there! -Use Open Site Explorer to check the anchor text of their incoming links I wouldn't get too focused on your competitors though. Although it is good to keep an eye on them, you should spend your time building a community, creating good content, and optimizing for keyword friendly content that will help your users. Sometimes it's easy to get lost in what others are doing, when you should be focusing on building the quality of your site with best practices. Hope this helps!

Why competitors rank with no content & filters
We're investing a lot in on-page content and creating categories/sub categories to target relevant keywords. Although it seems competitors with high domain authorities are clearly dominating in the SERPs and the pages have NO content. They are literally filters that create landing pages. For example when you search "Kaydian Beds", Debenhams rank below the manufacturer with just a filtered page, this page has not been optimised with content to target the keywords, only the META title changes depending on the chosen filter. Link: http://www.debenhams.com/furniture/beds/kaydian Our link: https://kontenta.co.uk/brands/kaydian-beds.html This is very frustrating as quality content should beat pages with little or no content, we will spend some time and get some inbound links to the page to try boost the rankings but does anyone have any similar experiences with anything like this?

Finding competitors best keywords?
How do I learn my competitor's best keywords? I realize I can add more keywords to my campaign but the problem is - I am not sure I am thinking of the right keywords. I don't want to compare with the keywords I am targeting - I want to know what THEY are targeting.

Question About Keyword Difficulty Report
If I am trying to assess the difficulty of ranking for a longtail keyword phrase that is 3 or more words long, should I put that phrase in quotes when I enter into the Keyword Analysis Tool or not? For example, let's say I want to see how hard it would be to rank for the phrase "best educational resources for teachers". Should I enter into the keywords analysis tool as "best educational resources for teachers" or just as best educational resources for teachers? Which one would give me the most accurate difficulty assessment for that phrase?

Keyword Research - tools
Hello all, I would like to find better synonyms for my keywords, and dig deeper to bid / place strategy into place for them. I am currently using the adwords too but it only gives me closely related keyword ideas. Is there something "free" which can give me a better co-relation data to work with? Thanks Aditya

Tool for finding what keywords a competitor ranks for?
Does anyone know of any good tools that display what keywords a competitor ranks for? I have many competitors that I know get a lot of traffic, but I'm not entirely sure where the traffic comes from so it would be nice to plug in their url and get a general overview of what keywords they rank for and what positions.

Best methodology for creating local keywords when Google has no data?
Generally I'll look at data for specific geographical searches and incorporate the data from the other keywords, then track the metrics. I think there is likely a more efficient system but I'm not sure where to start.
