I've just started my backlinking research on dentists. What are these links?

When you go to the URL and the link isn't there, what does it mean? Looks like the link may have been around since 2011. Any clues? What is an old comment on the story or something?

I looked at the page you shared. There are only two places for a non-spots related link on the page.
1. There is an advertisement in the right side bar. Back when SEOmoz crawled the page, could there have been an advertisement from your client? The current ad is from DoubleClick so I would expect the link to be nofollow if it appeared, which makes this option unlikely.
2. There is a twitter block on the page and the web links are followed. The most likely way for the link to appear is through a tweet, but I searched twitter and was unable to locate any tweet referencing that URL.
I see no other possibilities.
I also checked with another tool, AHREFS, and it shows the same link and information as OSE.

Hi Bob,
It different cases it may mean a lot of things. In my experience, more often than not, if it's in OSE and the link/page doesn't it exist, it's because it's been removed since the last time MOZ crawled the page.
Sometimes, it's because of web trash. But MOZ has been getting much better at filtering that stuff.

I am looking for a software to keep track of the back links or link building
Hi Guys, I am very new hear. I just joined. I have a few websites that I need to manage. I am looking for a software that will allow me to manually add the links that I have been able to acquire. It would also be a bonus if it could search for the links to my site and to see if its still active. Because I have a freelancer working a few hours a week on link building and I need to keep track of the links. I am looking for something simple and good. Any suggestions? By the way, I used Raven Tools many years ago, and it had this feature. But since joining Moz, I don't want to be paying for 2 subscriptions. And I don't know if Raven still has this feature. Your suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you. Ryan

'Too many links' on our pages.
This figure includes links that sit within our navigational menus. Is there a way to block this somehow so that Google and Moz do not read them as 'internal links'? Thanks in advance.

How Effective Are Links Between The Same Company's Websites With Different Domain Extensions?
Morning! The main competitor of an eCommerce site I'm working on has a total of 31 sites for 31 different countries. Each one of these sites has a different domain extension (.com, .co.uk, .fr, .it etc.), and every single one of these sites' pages links to all the other homepages through a dropdown menu on the navigation bar. When I pop the .co.uk URL (our main competitor) into Open Site Explorer, I'm advised they have a 45,079 links from 475 domains. If I look at 'just discovered' links, most are from their own sites - I guess MOZ picks these up every time a new page is created. Now, these guys are huge in the UK. They rank in the top 10 for pretty much every single search term and, to put it into some kind of perspective, their Search Metrics score is 33,000 compared to our measly 160! Don't get me wrong, they do get some decent links from authoritative sites, but it seem most of their links are from their own sites. How does Google view these? Does my competitor have these thousands of 'internal' backlinks to thank for their current position? I've just checked their .kr URL and this has 12.5 million(!) links from just 450 domains. Do every single one of these links pass equity? Or does Google just look at one from each domain? Thanks, Lewis

Are Directory Links a Good Source of Branded Links?
I am trying to increase the number of branded links for a few of my sites since the links are too heavily weighted on anchor text. If so, would you recommend a service like Directory Maximizer?

Is there any reason why a link within an <area> tag would not be counted as correct backlink?
Is there any reason why a link within an <area> tag would not be counted as correct backlink? In this example there is no <a> tag, so will this still be considered a link?</a>
