I checked all links to my site (not too many at all)
http://oasisoftheseasallureoftheseas.com/
and discovered that very important link – from my supplier,
Royal Caribbean International is not listed at all. Some links with ‘nofollow’ tags show up but not this one.
RCI source here
Any ideas?

Hi there,
The links that are on pages that don't require any java and aren't generated dynamically are easier to crawl and will reflect on your site.
If you haven't already, I recommend to read through the Open Site Explorer FAQ: http://www.seomoz.org/help/open-site-explorer-faq
Thanks,
Joel.

Thank you Ben and Joel! I appreciate your help!
Joel, please clarify if all links from static pages produce links to my web site. How to identify if profile page generate a real libk to my web site?
-
Hi there,
I checked it out and I don't see your site linked to from the RCI page. It's possible that if they do link to you, it's something generated from a search string, which is often not indexed by us so the link may not have been found.
Our Crawler (Roger) is real good about finding the deep pages as long as there is a thread to them. If there are no links or it needs some sort of Java, it probably won't be found, sadly.
You may want to see if you can arrange to have them put a link on a static page.
I hope that helps.
Thanks,
Joel

Open Site Explorer crawls a lot of the web but some pages do get missed - normally because they're very minor in the grand scheme of things.
Unfortunately this also happens at Google at it looks like the page that links to you isn't in Google's index. Were I you I would try and build some links to that supplier's page so that Google can index your link.
Hope that helps.

Paid directory links
Just going through my competitors back links, and discovered a couple of directories who charge a small fee for a listing (£20) (one way link) or a free listing (with a reciprocal link) they both have PR of 50 so I was wondering are these type of links still worth it? Best wishes. David.

Subdomains and link juice
My site recently received two separate links from the same domain, but different subdomains. Will my site receive "full" link juice from each link, or do they water each other down? Thanks!

Using sitewide links to improve link profile?
Hi Guys... When I look at my competitor's link profile, they often have thousands of backlinks. For example, one of our main competitor, he got 3,400 backlinks in total but only 80 referring domains. When I look at my link profile, I have around 50-60 referring domains, but hardly 80 backlinks. My question is, is it okay to get a few sitewide links (no-follow of course!) to get to the thousands backlinks? Or I will be able to achieve top rankings with my current link profile? Thanks!!

Old links
I am looking to remove some old directory links that now look spammy. Some years ago the site was redesigned. The links are all to the old pages url, which is 301 redirected to the new. If we remove the 301 and let the page 404, will that suffice in Googles eyes?

How might Google differentiate between an artificial link exchange and partners linking to each other?
Hi, All! Artificial link exchanges (contacting a vaguely connected site and requesting to exchange links to increase your PR) is, as far as I know, considered an outdated, not-so-smart technique, as Google might devalue them. Yet, for real business partners to exchange links seems to be an entirely accepted and encouraged technique. While that would be intuitive to a human who's viewing the pages. how might Google detect when two sites that link to each other are linking because they are trusted business associates (valuable) as opposed to when they are doing a link exchange (devalued)? Thanks! Aviva

What to do with some good links I have?
I have some pretty strong links from relevant sources linking to the homepage of a site I deal with. The links are usually from a PR3-5 pages and display specific result about the linking site. Sometimes they come from badges. We offer several services, so sometimes the page is about one service and next time about the other. Currently all of my pages link to the homepage. Would it not be better to link to the specific product page related to the page I have? Also I can do a canonical to the service pages? Which would be best?

Links on the same keyword
When is linking from one particular keyword to much. At what point could link building from one keyword be considered spam and potentially delist a site ? Is it possible for a site to be delisted for having to many links from the same keyword ? Heard linking from the website name is more important following recent changes. I try and link from a selection of 3 to 4 keywords. Thanks for your help

Iframes vs links
Obviously, websites can link to another web site using iframes, and Google and other search engines do seem to have some capability to index the content. What I want to know is what is the difference in value passed between a regular link and an iframe link. <iframe src="http://www.targetwebsite.com/targetlink"><br /><br />will have the same page ranking effect on the target web site as this link: <br /><br /><a href="http://www.targetwebsite.com/targetlink">link</a><br /><br />Alternative, would it work to include an invisible actual link right before the iframe, like this: <br /><br /><a style="display: none;" href="http://www.targetwebsite.com/targetlink">link</a><br /><iframe src="http://www.targetwebsite.com/targetlink"/></p> <p><span style="color: #5e5e5e;">The reason is that we are building a product recommendation engine, for a branded cosmetology school in order to get our concept salons to link back to use and I was curious if creating a version they can use as an iframe will give us link benefit.</span></p></iframe>
