No links or traffic to our articles
-
Hello,
Our articles are written by a professional in the field, taylored to what we think our ecommerce customers would most want to know about.
But there is no traffic to our articles and almost no inbound links.
We have 15 articles around 500 words (roughly) each. We've got a right sidebar banner about our FAQ and articles and a rotating banner with one slde about our articles. Also, we have a tab at the top. We've had a good article section for 5 months, and a descent one for a couple of years
Could it be our industry, or what can we do?

500 words seems pretty short, are you sure these are high quality articles?
What are you doing to promoted these articles? Are you sending out e-mails to other people in your niche that would be interested in your articles? Contacting them on Twitter and other social media? Posting your article to social bookmarking sites? Submitting your articles to news sites for your niche?
Like Donnie said, you can just build it and expect people to find it. Make great stuff and do some outreach. If that doesn't get you any traction, maybe your content isn't being received by your audience as well as you thought it would be.

Probably a boring niche... my specialty : )
I would recommend guest blogging in relevant niches. Myblogguest.com is a great place for that. Also see if you can find someone in your field that has a large social media presence to share some of your information with. SEOmoz is full of useful blog posts with strategies to gain relevant traffic.
SEO is not just build it and they will come. You must build and share it, create info graphics, Press releases (PRweb or another reliable source), create a contest and write a PR for it, maybe Donate and write a PR. Be sure to use variations of your keywords when linking.
In my opinion the best linking anchor structure is 70% brand name keyword 20%long tail keywords 10% exact keywords
Tip: If you want something from someone you must give value first. I offer potential link building partners all types of things, it depends on who and how. Example: Sometimes I find problems with a site or poor graphics. I can offer my services in exchange for a link.
There may be other factors preventing you from ranking however without your sites URL I cannot help.
The beauty of a boring niche is its boring for your competition as well.

Linking back to the homepage im trying to rank - Using exact match anchor? Linking from footer?
Hello, Our site is an basically advertisements / listings website. Structure is as following <last 200="" adds=""> (homepage trying to rank) < category 1 > < category 1 > < category 1 > < category 1 > < category 1 ></last> My question - each of the categories links back within the menu back to homepage. The link text currently is last 200 adds. Can i use exact match anchor? Or should i use just last 200 ads? The issue is that one of my categorys (category 1) has already the exact match anchor im trying to rank for. So i can not use the same to link back to homepage. Im worried that google does not see any exact keyword anchor texts back to homepage hence will rank my homepage with lower strenght for that keyword . Im also worried that the category 1 page might now compete with the main homepage for this word (even tho at the moment category itself does not rank for this keyword) Can i link from footer back to homepage with an alternative keyword then to give some "context" to google more? Would this be spamming?

Dynamic links & duplicate content
Hi there, I am putting a proposal together for a client whose website has been optimised to include many dynamic links and so there are many pages with duplicate content: only the page title, h1 and URL is different. My client thinks this isn't an issue. What is the current consensus on this? Many thanks in advance.

Hello, I used a plugin to no-index a lot of pages on my website, and its been couple months and they never disappeared from serps, so i used the google webmaster tool "remove urls" to ask google to remove them. Is that a good idea? Or does it look bad in googles eyes? any thoughts would help a lot. Thanks

Are Back Links King
We have worked as closely as possible to the guidelines and advice on this forum, if we compare our on page Analsis with other companies in the same field as ours we have a far better site as far as SEO is concerned, our DA authority is higher and most of our page authority is higher but we just cannot seem to get up to their level in the search engines, one site that is in competiton with us do not use Facebook and also they do not use Twitter very much, I looked at some of their backlinks and their top one which was a blog had not been updated since 2011, over the years we have amassed far more what I would call worthless links as this was the done thing then, how can I get on the right track, are there any companies who could assess our site for a reasonable cost to point us in the right direction, we are doing our own blog, Facebook, Twitter, Onlywire?

Too many links
My site index has recently showed up during crawl - with a warning of too many links (885). Should I be adding the no follow tag to this page? Wall Quotes, Vinyl Wall Quotes, Family Sayings, Baby Boy Quotes http://www.enchantingquotes.com/ind.html Thank you!

Do NoFollow links still split link equity?
So I realize that Google will split link equity between all links on any given page. Example, if a landing page has 10 links then the authority from the landing page is split into 10 and each link given its own smaller amount of equity from that landing page. My question is if I were to turn 9 of the 10 links on this page to NoFollow links would the equity still remain split 10 ways or would it simply pass all of it to the one DoFollow link left on the page?

Duplicate Links
Hello, I am entering sitewide navigation that will go to primary seo pages. This is really for usability, not for link juice. I'm wondering if I should still link to these very important pages in my index page's content. Or if I should consider those navigation links strong enough. If I did link in the content, then I would have more than one link to the same page on my home page. Thanks Tyler
