Easy way to get some do-follow links for a new site
-
I am launching a new website and when I search for "list of do-follow websites" I find lots of people posting their list. Rather than individually sign up for hundreds of sites for one link at a time, is there a tool that can automate this?
-
To answer your question: There are lots of tools that can automate this, but that's a good way to get your new site sandboxed. Don't mess with these unless you really know what you're doing.
If this site is a long-term investment for you, then you need to get your blog up and running. It will take a while to see results, but this is generally the core link-building engine of any organization. Establish a budget and get good writers. The links will [slowly] come.
Some of the more innocuous link-building methods that you can actively pursue are social media (pinterest & squidoo especially), newsworthy press-releases, social bookmarking, niche blog commenting, niche & high PR directories (both free & paid), and guest blogging / article directories. However, most of these things are dependent on content. The more content that you have (and the better that it is), the easier it becomes to build links.
Creating special offers can also work out well if you can get on various "employee discount" pages from reputable sites. If you have a brick-and-mortar business, local citations will also help to get you going.
I hope this helps.

If you can find these lists, and if you can find a tool doing this -- Google can easily do the same. Do you want your first links to your brand new site in a competitive field to be ones that the search engines recognize as easy to get and where there are literally 500 other people writing comments on the same site with links back to their blog?
I'd suggest looking through the SEOmoz blog in the link building category for ideas about building valuable links instead. Takes more time, but is much better for your site.

That is ONE of the segments I would totally recommend NOT doing any type of grey hat link building.
I run some financial sites and if you want to exchange some authentic content and some "white" hate exposure building -> forget the "link" building anymore.

I would be very careful in this post penguin world right now with non white hate tactics for links. What is the vertical you are trying to rank for?

If you have some SEO software that streamlines the process, you can do it pretty quickly. I've used Link Assistant and iBusiness Promoter, but it's been awhile.
Both have their pros and cons. The biggest problem is that you end up paying a fair amount for them. It doesn't make sense to pay for them, unless you plan on doing a lot of link building. Also, I'd go with the free trial software just to be sure you can load your list. As I recall Link Assistant lets you load CSV spreadsheets.

Google is alternating what link it likes to rank on wordpress site and
Hi there, I'm experiencing a problem where google is pick and choosing different links structures to rank my Wordpress site for my main keywords. The site had pretty good #1 rankings for a long time but recently I noticed Google is choosing to rank the page in one of two ways. Let me just say that the original way where it held good rankings looked like this for example: flowers.com/the-most-beautiful-wedding-bouquets/ this is just an example it' is not my site. And when google decides to switch it up it uses this link structure:flowers.com > weddings (this still points to this link flowers.com/the-most-beautiful-wedding-bouquets when I hover my mouse over it) however this link structure that never appeared before and now does, usually has much lower rankings. Please note it's not both link structures being ranked at the same time for the keywords. It's one or the other that google is currently alternating in ranking and I believe it's hurting the sites position.

I'm not sure if this is a wordpress settings thats gone wrong or what the problem is but I do know when shows the expanded and descriptive link structure flowers.com/the-most-beautiful-wedding-bouquets the rankings are higher and in 2nd place. I'm hoping by rectifying this I can regain back my position. I'm very grateful for any insight you could offer on why this is happening and how I could fix it. Thank you. PS Wordpress site has several SEO plugins0 -
If I only Link to Page via Sitemap, can it still get indexed?
Hi there! I am creating a ton of content for specific geographies. Is it possible for these pages to get indexed if I only put them in my sitemap and don't link to them through my actual site (though the pages will be live). Thanks!

Does link juice pass along the URL or the folders? 10yr old PR 6 site
We have a website that is ~10yrs old and a PR 6. It has a bunch of legitimate links from .edu and .gov sites. Until now the owner has never blogged or added much content to the site. We have suggested that to grow his traffic organically he should add a worpress blog and get agressive with his content. The IT guy is concerned about putting a wordpress blog on the same server as the main site because of security issues with WP. They have a bunch of credit card info on file. So, would it be better to just put the blog on a subdomain like blog.mysite.com OR host the blog on another server but have the URL structure be mysite.com/blog? I have tried to pass as much juice as possible. Any ideas?

A sneaky site? Two URLs with a similar layout linking back and forth.
Hello. I have a competitor that is on the front page of Google (and often at or near the top) for many desirable keywords - almost unbelievably so. I notice that their site has a blog. When I click the blog button, I am taken to a different URL that has a very similar layout with a similar navigation bar, etc. When I click one of the navigation buttons on the blog site, I am taken back to the other URL. This seems strange. Is there some ranking benefit to having two URLs set up like this? Is this a sneaky site? Thank you!

Do follow or no follow on wordpress site?
I have read many different opinions on what links to make do follow on a wordpress website versus which ones to leave as no follow. (internal and external) There does not seem to be any consensus among the inputs to date. Any perspectives on this would be appreciated. thanks

Can literally any site get 'burned'?
Just curious what people think. The SEOMOZ trust on my site has gone up, all while Google is dropping us in rankings for lots of keywords. Just curious if this can happen to anyone or once you are 100% 'trusted' you're good. We went from 120,000 page views down to about 50,000. All while doubling content, improving the design(at least from a user perspective), and getting more natural links. Seems counter intuitive to Google's mantra of ranking quality. I would guess 'authority' sites never get hit by these updates right? So when you make it you've made it.(at least from a dropping like a rock perspective, obviously you have to keep working). I'm guessing we just need a bunch more quality links but would hate to work on building links, quality content, trust etc for it to be something so finicky long term.

Affiliate Links Added and Site Dropped in only Google
My site was dropshipping a product and we switched to an affiliate offer. We had three 4 links to different affiliate products. Our site dropped the next day. I have been number 1 for 6 months, has a pr 6 and is 2 years old. It has been 2 weeks and the site hasn't jumped back. Any suggestions on how to handle this?

Making a site back link checker proof
Is it possible to make your site un readable by the back link checkers such as open explorer ? Or would it have a negative effect on search engine rankings. Sorry I have been in the business for 10 years and it has never crossed my mind. Figured I would say that before I get all the "I can't believe you don't know that" type comments 🙂
