How much will changing IP addresses impact SEO?
-
So my company is upgrading its Internet bandwidth. However, apparently the vendor has said that part of the upgrade will involve changing our IP address. I've found two links that indicate some care needs to be taken to make sure our SEO isn't harmed:
http://followmattcutts.com/2011/07/21/protect-your-seo-when-changing-ip-address-and-server/
http://www.v7n.com/forums/google-forum/275513-changing-ip-affect-seo.html
Assuming we don't use an IP address that has been blacklisted by Google for spamming or other black hat tactics, how problematic is it?
(Note: The site hasn't really been aggressively optimized yet - I started with the company less than two weeks ago, and just barely got FTP and CMS access yesterday - so honestly I'm not too worried about really messing up the site's optimization, since there isn't a lot to really break.)

TTL is Time To Live (set in seconds), and is the interval that your computer will refresh its DNS information.
Usually it's set for 12 or 24 hours. So the day before an IP change, set your TTL to 5 minutes. That way, when you do change your IP, it should only take 5 minutes for the DNS change to propagate. Once it propagates, change it back to its original value.
-
I am also looking at moving server - How do we check if the ip/dns server we're moving to was blacklisted in the past or not?
-
TTL = ??? (Sorry so ignorant...)
-
There's little or no evidence that changing the IP by itself will effect on your rankings or traffic, unless you move to a really slow server or a blacklisted neighborhood - but it doesn't seem like something you need to worry about.
Hopefully the speed improvements will be a big boost to your visitors, which may indirectly effect your SEO in a positive way!
-
Will not matter much especially if it is only done only once in awhile.
-
Except for geolocation purposes, your IP has no real effect on your SEO. The only thing I would suggest is making your TTL on your DNS records very low about a day before you move so when you do move you minimize the chance that you're hitting the old IP.
-
I was looking at this 2 URL'S you post here and did some research on my own few months ago and i don't really think that will make any different , you need to make sure this dns server you put it on not flagged by Google.
not much but hope that help you
Mike

Invalid Microdata - How much of an impact does invalid microdata have on SERPS
Invalid Microdata - How much of an impact does invalid microdata have on SERPS?? The Low down. We are located in Australia We run our business on the Bigcommerce platform. Problem is Google is crawling our bigcommerce in USD and displaying our micro data (price in USD instead of AUD) How much of a problem is this in terms of SEO issues? We have seen a steady decline or many of our top 3 rankings shift down a few pegs to mid-bottom of top 10. We're also getting google shopping microdata warnings too. Hi, I am just wondering how we fix invalid micro data (Price) is displaying USD where we are located in Australia so it should be AUD. Solutions: Does anyone have a solution for this they can help me out with to resolve this microdata issue on the bigcommerce platform (stencil cornerstone based template)? Are there any other technical elements at first glance you note on our website that may be a potential cause in the SERP decline from top 3's to top 10's? URL https://wwww.fishingtackleshop.com.au

Wordpress pagination and SEO
Hello Mozzers, We have incorporated Wordpress blog in our website. The blog has a fair share of what we believe is a valuable content both for the users and SEO. We have reached the point where our content is getting pushed out to pages 2, 3 and etc. 99% of the older content is still relevant and useful. However it does get less traffic from the users because it is not on the front page. I am dealing with it by showing "related posts" and get some traffic through that. I feel that the content that got pushed from the front page of the blog gets less love from search engines as well. The my permalink structure is /%postname%/ only, however when Wordpress adds page/1/ the SEO ranking appears to drop. Is it because Wordpress adds page/1/ to the address? What is a good way to optimize is? I have 15 posts showing on the front page should I increase it?

SEO for sub domains
I've recently started to work on a website that has been previously targeting sub domain pages on its site for its SEO and has some ok rankings. To better explain, let me give an example...A site is called domainname.com. And has subdomains that they are targeted for seo (i.e. pageone.domainname.com, pagetwo.domainname.com, pagethree.domianname.com). The site is going through a site re-development and can reorganise its pages to another URL. What would be best way to approach this situation for SEO? Ideally, I'm tempted to recommend that new targeted pages be created - domainname.com/pageone, domainname.com/pagetwo, domainname.com/pagethree, etc - and to perform a 301 redirect from the old pages. Does a subdomain page structure (e.g. pageone.domainname.com) have any negative effects on SEO? Also, is there a good way to track rankings? I find that a lot of rank checkers don't pick up subdomains. Any tips on the best approach to take here would be appreciated. Hope I've made sense!

Should I change the URL now?
Hi all, I have a client website that got hit in the latest algorithm update. It since appears that it had over 100 suspect links to it. I performed the Disavow procedure a few weeks ago via my Google Webmaster account, but have not received a message yet to say its been actioned. The majority of these suspect links go to one page. I am considering changing the base category (in Wordpress) to a different keyphrase and then submitting a new sitemap for indexing. This way there will be no actual link from a suspect website to a page on my website. Do you see what I mean? Will this help do you think? Thanks in advance.

SEO for Interspire Relic
Hi All, Does anyone know of optimization best practices for the now largely defunct Interspire Web Publisher? Specifically, I'm looking for a canonical plugin or workaround to try and get rid of a few duplicate content issues (most importantly root vs. index.php). I'd like to just redo the site with a cms that has better support...unfortunately client budget constraints are a little tight at the moment. Thanks!

What price should you pay for seo services
A friend of mine has a business site and he has said to me that he has been receiving a number of emails with regards to seo services. He is seriously thinking about using a company to help him as he does not have the time to promote his site and get it in the top of the search engines. Last week he asked me what price should he be paying for a small business site and to be honest i could not give him an answer as i have never used a company who deal with seo before. A lot of the emails he has received are from India, and i would like to know what is involved, do they need access inside your site and what price is a good price to pay. Normally i would have told him to learn seo himself but due to the lack of time he has i can understand why he needs a company to help him any help would be good
