No Follow Internal Links
-
Hi Mozzers,
I know that this has been asked a few times and answered as well, I would just like to know some more on the internal link count on a page.
I ran the SEOmoz report and many of the pages on the website have more than 150+ internal links. Now, should I use the rel=nofollow tag on some pages that I feel are not important?
I have a list of pages which are not important from the SEO point of view, but from the usability factors they need to be there so I cannot remove the links to them. So, would be OK to place the rel=nofollow tag on them. My whole purpose is to reduce the count of internal links on the page as seen by SE's. Now, some say that the rel=nofollow tag does not lower the link count, but it can definitely (I believe) prevent the bots time in getting to those pages, which SEOmoz report also quotes.
(__When search engine spiders crawl the Internet they are limited by technology resources and are only able to crawl a certain number of links per webpage. )
So, probably I can save their time. Does anyone have any views on this,
Cheers,

Thanks Alan for the reply. Though, I had read this over a few posts I just wanted to confirm whether I should be sending the email out to dev to block these URLs, but I wont now since this may not actually get the count down.
I had rather see which I can remove from the page.
Cheers,

Agreed 100%, don't nofollow internal links, let your PR flow normally.

i dont think it will help, and it has a side affect, you will loose PageRank, your PR is split between all the links on your page, if you no-follow the links will still use there share of PR, but it will not be passed to the linked page, it will just be wasted.
as for redusing the link count, i dont think so, this is what bing says on the subject and it reads to me as if it the number of links, not the fact that they are follow or no follow

Sitelinks to internal pages
Hi Moz Community, Is it only possible to get sitelinks to your main domain in the SERPs or can you also get them to internal pages in the SERPs? i.e. if this were to pop up in the SERP: www.mysite.com/page1

Can I get sitelinks such as the examples below:
Sitelink1: www.mysite.com/page1/page1a

Anchor Texts on Internal Links on my Site Question
[Hey folks, Anchor text question for internal links on my site. We all know that proper anchor text is important for rankings, both in links pointing to your site and links on your site. Google webmaster tools is showing my top internal anchor text links to be letters. This is because of navigation on the site which is in a global footer on hundreds of thousands of pages. Do you think that this dilutes or minimizes the relevance of the real anchor texts that we are targeting which trail behind these, or if this went away it would have no effect on the rest of the anchor texts on the site. How would you handle this, we can just get rid of this navigation because it's passing PR and helping the pages get spidered. Thanks in advance. Does link text "more information" have more weight than a normal link?
Does the anchor text "more information" hold any additional weight than any other anchor text? My suspicion is no, but just wanted to confirm.

Are Forum Links To Website Causing Rankings To Drop ?
For many years our top keywords hve ranked in top 5. Usually top 3 for a few in particular. The last few months those particular keywords have dropped to 25 +. Our other rankings are doing pretty decent and are remaiing the same. We are members of about 6 forums since they relate to our website and sometime we have contests on them. I do know that the forums are based on those particular keywords and are linking to our website, as well as other forum members linking to us. Each forum has roughly 300 links to our website. It does not seem as if our competitors are affected by this, as they are members of the forums as well. What could be causing this for these certain keywords? If those forums were affected by Google's new algorythm would this have an affect on our website?
