No Follow Internal Links
-
Hi Mozzers,
I know that this has been asked a few times and answered as well, I would just like to know some more on the internal link count on a page.
I ran the SEOmoz report and many of the pages on the website have more than 150+ internal links. Now, should I use the rel=nofollow tag on some pages that I feel are not important?
I have a list of pages which are not important from the SEO point of view, but from the usability factors they need to be there so I cannot remove the links to them. So, would be OK to place the rel=nofollow tag on them. My whole purpose is to reduce the count of internal links on the page as seen by SE's. Now, some say that the rel=nofollow tag does not lower the link count, but it can definitely (I believe) prevent the bots time in getting to those pages, which SEOmoz report also quotes.
(__When search engine spiders crawl the Internet they are limited by technology resources and are only able to crawl a certain number of links per webpage. )
So, probably I can save their time. Does anyone have any views on this,
Cheers,

Thanks Alan for the reply. Though, I had read this over a few posts I just wanted to confirm whether I should be sending the email out to dev to block these URLs, but I wont now since this may not actually get the count down.
I had rather see which I can remove from the page.
Cheers,

Agreed 100%, don't nofollow internal links, let your PR flow normally.

i dont think it will help, and it has a side affect, you will loose PageRank, your PR is split between all the links on your page, if you no-follow the links will still use there share of PR, but it will not be passed to the linked page, it will just be wasted.
as for redusing the link count, i dont think so, this is what bing says on the subject and it reads to me as if it the number of links, not the fact that they are follow or no follow

Wordpress #comment links?
We just started our trial account and have the results from our first Moz Pro Site Crawl. It's showing that we have a large portion of our pages have 'Too Many Links' and I'm trying to determine exactly what this means and how to fix it. The article referenced is from 2011 and doesn't fully address what I'm looking for. Here are a few questions: 1. Can we lower the 'link count' by adding a 'no follow' or does too many links, count links regardless? The question being, is the only way to solve this by removing links or are their no follow or no index options that will prevent us from having this issue moving forward? 2. Comment Links: Our site is in Wordpress and I just recognized that each of the comment links are followed: https://screencast.com/t/b0CIKVafWw. These aren't links from our users, rather these are links within Wordpress and are structured like this: https://mysite.com/blog-post/#comment-6970. From my screenshot you can see they are highlighted as 'followed links'. Is there a setting within Wordpress to turn this off or is there another option I should consider? Should we just make these no index, no follow links? Will that solve the 'Too many links' problem? I searched through the Q&A's and couldn't find an answer directly to my question. Most were around people leaving links in the comments section, which isn't what I'm looking for. Thank you for any help you can provide.

Links to Product pages
Hello all, I am still rather new to SEO and learning a lot every day. I do have a question. On our product search result pages (example http://shop.ferguson.com/search/bathroom-lighting)
On-Page Optimization | | Ferguson
It is currently set up so the image, text, price etc of a product is linking to that product page. Our question is, if we were to link the image and the product name - will this be seen as two links to the same page? Is this a bad thing having multiple links to the same page? I searched around to see how other ecommerce sites have similar pages setup and it seems they link the image and also the product name, and the description is not click-able, which allows a user to "Highlight" the text (this is not possible on ours) Which would be to correct approach for SEO as well as User Interface, the way we have it set up, or by going with the method of the question I asked, Thank you for any information on this! Internal Links - more the merrier?
I have just recently spoken to an SEO consultant who is pushing the opinion that more internal links would be better for me. They are particularly focused oin aligning a large number of content articles that I have developed over the years, and getting more keyword focus, and more links (inpage within site) onto these pages. I have to agree on a certain level that maybe this large base of unique content is unedr utilised. What is the general opinon, more internal links are better?
