HOW TO
-
Guys and Gals,
I have to go on a bit of a rant here. I know SEO is not easy. I know it's hard work. I know you need to get an SEO to do a great job for you so that you can succeed in todays online environment.
I have been learning about SEO for about 4 years now and have gotten semi-knowledgeable on the subject.
It seems like when I get links, they aren't good enough for google. I may do a guest post, etc. I have really good content that ranks well for long tail keywords that people do search for, BUT I can't seem to rank for the keywords that I want which is not that hard to do.
I feel my biggest problem is content and link bait. I am in real estate. Yes I can write how to articles and unique pages on real estate topics but even when I do, it doesn't pull in links. HOW DO I GET IT IN FRONT OF PEOPLE THAT WILL LINK TO ME???
If I am trying to rank for "oxford real estate" do I need to simply keep writing articles that are pretty similar in topic to this phrase?
What am I missing?

You're not missing anything. People link to useful or fun content. Unfortunately, I honestly can't think of any reason why I would want to link to a real estate article. That being said, I'm almost positive that I'm not alone.
The power is not in the links and guest spots. It's in your site content. I have sites that rank for very competitive keywords and some of them don't even have links in the double digits. Content is king.
Whatever the topic of your site is, you need to figure out what advantage a person would have coming to you instead of a competitor and capitalize on that. If you have the best closing rates, draw attention to that. Have more properties than anyone else? Scream it. Can you always get a deal closed when someone has bad credit? Tell them. Offer more information on the topic than what someone else does. Services to use, tips on what to look for when looking at homes, how to negotiate the best pricing, etc. And keep the focus on location (i.e. Oxford). Going too broad in the real estate realm is way too competitive for an individual agent to keep up with.
Between building out your content and remaining vigilant in your article writing, real estate blog contributions, and staying active in the social realm (Facebook, Twitter), it will eventually sift out, but it's not a magic pill. It does take time.
But because you're frustrated is a good sign. It means it's almost about to pay off. That's typically when it happens is when you're standing crying in a corner with a handful of hair.

Backlink builder (Professional)
If I wanted to hire a professional person to build high quality backlinks for me, where would I look? I'm asking here because I'd rather go on the recommendation of other businesses owners, than a google search. Does anyone have a person that they can recommend? It's for an insurance agency in Texas. Many thanks

Backlinks from local businesses
Hello, I need to make sure I understand this correctly. Will it help my SEO if I: find local businesses with a good DA & low spam score select businesses that are somehow related to mine (Insurance Agency) offer to guest post and include a backlink on their blog ( ask them if they'd like to reciprocate) For example, businesses such as

Reputable Place For Guest Posts
We do our SEO in-house, and I don't have the time for blogger outreach. Does anyone know of a reputable place where I can submit our content to be pitched to relevant outlets for backlinks and US traffic? I am not in it for someone creating our content; I write it myself and have a degree in the content I produce. I am looking for a place that gets REAL US traffic, not some P.B.N. sites or those where I can create accounts at a post myself. I want real traffic from relevant, reputable blogs or a place where I can have them use my content and find niche sites for me.
