Site Optimisation for ktichens!!
-
Hey Guys,
I am about to begin to optimise this site www.stuartandersonkitchens.co.uk for some keywords such as edinburgh kitchens, quality kitchens edinburgh etc as he is based in edinburgh.
I am also going to be doing some work behind the bones of the site optimisiing alt, meta data, micro data etc.
Also I am thinking about creating a FB, Twitter, Youtube profile and possibly adding him to a few directories (DMOZ etc), some local & running a small adwords campaign using the freebie credits.
I will be altering some of the content in order to have it more amicable to the engines.
Is there any other advice anyone would like to give me, where I could improve in order to have him seen on the search engines.
Be great to here your take on this.
Thanks again,
Craig

Hi Craig,
I am totally agree with kelly because your site doesn't look SEO friendly so you have to make changes for the optimization and getting good ranking in SERP. If you want to listed your site in directories then Yahoo and Dmoz would be your first choice because the both has biggest advantages and i already suggest Local listing which will be help you more in this.

Yup its failing bigtime on content, we didint actually design the site. I personally think it;s a bit too in your face with the images. Some great point though, will look for that plugin.
Thanks Kelly.
Kind Regards,
Craig

Hi craig
There is loads you can do, first off get some text on the home page, image only pages do not tend to rank very well
Change titles, you do not need to have your domain name in the title if you are looking to be found lets say the example you gave then a tiltle like

Edinburgh Kitchen Fitters, Designers Of Quality Kitchens Scotland
(each page must be different to rank for its contents)
you need to add a description
As your using word press download the SEO all in Plugin this will help add these Meta Titles, descriptions and help with some other On page SEO elements for you
Just by doing the above there is no reason you wont make page 1 in your local area the competition is fairly low.
Also use the Blog and get some content written regularly, and publish that and article here and there on your own site could do well, or utilise the blog as a diary of current installations, i know a bathroom company that does that and they got all their links from people following and publishing his before and after images and that was enough for them to dominate their local area and booking work out for 6-8 weeks in advance
Good luck the site looks nice but needs content

Hi Sanket,
Thanks for that, it was including in my plan but I forgot to mention I am looking at some local directories with decent Page Rank and a revamp of current content.
Thanks Again,
Craig

Hi Craig,
First of all you have to improve on-page if you optimize this site for keywords such as edinburgh kitchens, quality kitchens edinburgh then you have make some in Onpage. Your link building strategies that you have planed are good. I suggest one more thing that is local listing it will helpful in increasing visitors and presence in search engine.

Is it still best practice to optimize your site with geographic long tail keywords?
Since Google is tailoring search results to user IP and location, is it still best practice to optimize your site titles etc. with long-tail geographic keywords? For example, instead of optimizing a page for "dentist in West Palm Beach, Florida", search users who are IN West Palm Beach can just search "dentists" and a list of local dentists will be displayed (both in the local listings AND organic search listings). I'd love to see Rand cover this on a Whiteboard Friday!

Open Site Explorer Link Metrics
I'm new to SEOMOZ. I have a Pro account and have been messing with the tools available. I ran a report in Open Site Explorer on one of my prospects. I also entered in several of their competitors to see how they rank. I would like to show the report to my prospective client but couldn't figure out how to download the information. Is that info available for download? Does anyone have a recommendation for showing prospects how they rank against their competitors. Any help appreciated.

Can we add sites to the crawl queue for OSE?
Is it possible to request that Open Site Explorer crawls a new URL on its next run? This tool is the first place I go to when working on a new site, and when there is "No Data Available" this is a little frustrating. I fully appreciate that this lack of data is usually a signal that the website is either very new or of low quality, however that if often the reason that I am brought in and would very much like to benchmark and provide initial analysis using this tool. It would make sense that OSE crawls the sites that Moz members are working on wouldnt it? Scott.

Links not appearing on Open Site Explorer
My site gained several new inbound links during December and only two of them are not all showing up on the latest Linkscape update. It seems to be the links that were created at the end of the month which are showing up, whereas a handful at the beginning of the month are nowhere to be seen. All the linking pages have been indexed by Google the links are do-follow, and one of the sites in particular is not obsure and has a DA in the 90's. I appreciate the Linkscape doesn't index everything, but I would have thought that more tof the results of my efforts would have shown up in OSE. I'd be really grateful if anyone could explain this to me please. Thanks Ben

Is there any alternatives to Yahoo Site Explorer?
Hi, Is there any alternatives to Yahoo Site Explorer? I want to find backlinks of some unavailable pages and YSE was a great tool to deal with. But when I used tools like Open Site Explorer, ahrefs.com etc., I couldn't find one same like YSE. Because when I tried, it shows'No data available for this URL' where on YSE I found inbound links. What Alternatives Are There? thanks in advance!

Hi, I have performed a search on a root domain and the page auth is higher then the domain auth? I would have thought they would have been the same or at least the other way around!

Title element too long. Site title on every page?
Hi.. I'm running a theme on wordpress called "The Morning After" (not sure that matters). Right now it seems to be adding my site title to each page title, making it well over the recommended 70 characters. I only see this in my crawl results on SEOmoz so I'm not sure if that's how other bots see it, but wonder if anyone else has had this problem and if so, how do I fix it? Thanks! SJ
