Stop Building Links During Reconsideration Request?

We had a message in webmaster tools to say our site had 'unnatural links' pointing towards it.
I investigated and found a number of sites where we had uploaded articles, containing links, had been de-indexed. As such we have suffered a few drops in rankings.
I have submitted a reconsideration request and I'd like to get on with recovering any lost ground. However, I am wondering whether it's best to cease any link building activity whilst the reconsideration request is processed.
Please do let me know your thoughts and experiences on continuing to build links after submitting a reconsideration request.

That's an awesome post as well Carson, thank you very much for sharing. I think we are going to have to change our techniques - the point about link building formerly being the easiest part of your job really hit home with me. It seems that link building is going to be a much more laborious process.
As far as agencies go, it's going to take a great deal more in the way of time and resources to service clients. At the moment, it seems that the only way forward for the average agency is to employ more staff or out-source elements of the link building process. Either that or SEO simply becomes much more expensive.
With that in mind, do you think the days of local businesses ranking alongside high-street brands on P1 may be coming to an end?

In a nutshell, this is great advice.
I would suggest reading this post I wrote about the same warning in webmaster tools, as it sounds very relevant to what you are experiencing. There is no point in submitting a reconsideration request until the bad links are removed. You can continue to build links, but not in ways that add zero value to users.

Should you continue link building? Yes.
Should you continue the same strategy as you previously had adapted? No.
Look at building quality, natural links, it's more important that you build these links now than ever to be honest.

Which way of Link Building is best for seo and long term results

Link Building for lower budgets that work on 2012
Hello, I think many of us have re-plan their SEO strategy since the latest updates from Google and we all saw that coming anyway. We already know that link building using Directories, Article sites, Link exchange, profiles, footer/side links, paid links, press releases and other have been devalued or not working at all. For low budget websites and websites that cannot afford fresh/valued updated content or other link baiting techniques there arent much left. I my self found that Social Media and Blogging (Guest posts) are they only techniques left for websites that cannot manage to get natural links. Also i have realized that On-page optimization is getting more attention again. We all have great ideas of acquiring links but what we do when time and budget is limited? Google promotes natural link building but how you supposed to get natural links from a new low reputation website? I kinda of like the new approach since it will make SEO work a lot of harder and eliminate the easy path success. It will also focus the SEO job more on On-page and on great content. But this is getting a lot of harder for new websites with lower budgets and lower time to consume on SEO. I deeply know the answer of my question but i would like your opinion also and of course if anyone would like to share some ideas or know-how to discuss is welcome.

What are the best SEO agencies for link building?
I am not looking for a full service SEO agency. I just want link building. Not paid links, not link networks, not blog comments, not bookmarks...real, legit, decent links. Does anyone have any experience working with an SEO agency that helped them develop their link profile positively and at a reasonable price? I'm willing to pay for the service, I just want to work with someone who won't buy links or send a bunch of spam our way. Outsource Link Building?
Currently we are in the process of creating a new ecommerce website. The site is not live yet, but we have done all of the planning and brainstorming and now are just doing all of the dirty work to get things ready to go live. We are devoting a lot of time on merchandising and developing the site, but currently do not have the resources to put together a good link building campaign in house. Does anyone have any recommendations for outsourcing the link building? The last thing we want is to hire someone that submits to bad neighborhoods and only directories. Is there a good, better, best scenario we should be looking at for pricing, ect? Obviously, like most who are starting a new site, cost is an issue at least until the site gives some sort of sign of life. Also, we are in the Pittsburgh area. We don't need to go local with this, but if there is someone particularly good in the area it would be nice. Thanks in advance.
