Does Rogerbot respect the robots.txt file for wildcards?
-
Hi All,
Our robots.txt file has wildcards in it, which Googlebot recognizes. Can anyone tell me whether or not Rogerbot recognizes wildcards in the robots.txt file?
We've done a Rogerbot site crawl since updating the robots.txt file and the pages that are set to disallow using the wildcards are still showing.
BTW, Googlebot is not crawling these pages according to Webmaster Tools.
Thanks in advance,
Robert

Thanks! RogerBot is now working. Perhaps it had a cached copy of the old robots.txt file. All is well now.
Thank you!

Yes, rogerbot follows robots exclusion protocol - http://www.seomoz.org/dp/rogerbot

Roger should obey wildcards. It sounds like he's not, so could you tattle on him to the help team and they'll see why he's not following directions? http://www.seomoz.org/help Thanks!

Restrict rogerbot for few days
Hi Team, I have a subdomain that built in Zendesk's CRM system. Now, I want to restrict Moz crawler (rogerbot) for crawling this complete subdomain for a few days, but I am not able to edit the robots.txt file of the subdomain, because this is a shared file and Zendesk is not allowing to edit it. Could you please let me know the alternative way to restrict rogerbot to crawl this subdomain? I am eagerly awaiting your quick response. Thanks

Robots.txt blocking Moz
Moz are reporting the robots.txt file is blocking them from crawling one of our websites. But as far as we can see this file is exactly the same as the robots.txt files on other websites that Moz is crawling without problems. We have never come up against this before, even with this site. Our stats show Rogerbot attempting to crawl our site, but it receives a 404 error. Can anyone enlighten us to the problem please? http://www.wychwoodflooring.com -Christina

Rogerbot crawls my site and causes error as it uses urls that don't exist
Whenever the rogerbot comes back to my site for a crawl it seems to want to crawl urls that dont exist and thus causes errors to be reported... Example:- The correct url is as follows: /vw-baywindow/cab_door_slide_door_tailgate_engine_lid_parts/cab_door_seals/genuine_vw_brazil_cab_door_rubber_68-79_10330/ But it seems to want to crawl the following: /vw-baywindow/cab_door_slide_door_tailgate_engine_lid_parts/cab_door_seals/genuine_vw_brazil_cab_door_rubber_68-79_10330/?id=10330 This format doesn't exist anywhere and never has so I have no idea where its getting this url format from The user agent details I get are as follows: IP ADDRESS: 107.22.107.114

Does SeoMoz realize about duplicated url blocked in robot.txt?
Hi there: Just a newby question... I found some duplicated url in the "SEOmoz Crawl diagnostic reports" that should not be there. They are intended to be blocked by the web robot.txt file. Here is an example url (joomla + virtuemart structure): http://www.domain.com/component/users/?view=registration and the here is the blocking content in the robots.txt file User-agent: * _ Disallow: /components/_ Question is: Will this kind of duplicated url errors be removed from the error list automatically in the future? Should I remember what errors should not really be in the error list? What is the best way to handle this kind of errors? Thanks and best regards Franky

Anything in this that would have caused Rogerbot to stop indexing my site? It only saw 34 of 5000+ pages on the last pass. It had no problems seeing the whole site before. User-agent: Rogerbot Disallow: /default.aspx?*
