CMS program that have indexing problems
-
I am working on optimizing a website that was built with an CMS program. I searched for what pages are indexed on Google using "site:url" command. For some reason none of the pages are indexed on Google. What is the best way to index these web pages?

Thanks Mat!
I will install Google webmaster once i get the log in information from web designer. I used the SEOmoz campaign and validator.w3.org to figure out if there are any crawl errors. The only crawl errors I found was duplicated page title and content. On the validator i found 24 HTML errors. I did not see any any no follow or blocked spiders or no index.
The URL structure has a "shop.domainname.com" instead of a "www.domainname.com". I could switch hosting services and fix this issue could this be the problem?
I have seen similar scenarios before I think this is the issue. Thanks again!

If NO pages at all have been indexed then the first thing to check is that you are not blocking google. the easiest way to check all the most likely issues there is to get your site registered on google webmaster tools and then look for any crawl errors.
However if you want to check manually start with the robots.txt file - make sure that there are not any disallows in there. If there are then make sure that they are not blocking the mail content (if you are not sure then post the contents back here - happy to look). Also look in the source code of the page for any "no index" instructions.
If neither of those flag up problems then you need to ask does Google know about the site? Has it been linked to from external places, or submitted? How long since it went live.
If you post (or message me) the URL I'd be happy to take a quick look for you.

No index for http version of website
Hi, I've had a message from Google search console to say the sitemap for the http version of my site is tagged as no index. As the https version is indexed, do I need to change the http version to be indexed as well? Do I need to keep the http version of the site in search console alongside the https version, or should I remove it? Advice appreciated!

Does hover over content index well
i notice increasing cases of portfolio style boxes on site designs (especially wordpress templates) where you have an image and text appears after hover over (sorry for my basic terminology). does this text which appears after hover over have much search engine value or as it doesnt immediately appear on pageload does it carry slightly less weight like tabbed content? any advice appreciated thanks neil

Can lazy loading of images affect indexing?
I am trying to diagnose a massive drop in Google rankings for my website and noticed that the date of the ranking and traffic drop coincides with Google suddenly only indexing about 10% of my images, whereas previously it was indexing about 95% of them. Wondering if addition of lazy load script to images (so they don't load from the server until visible in the browser) could cause this index blocking?

No-index all the posts of a category
Hi everyone! I would like no-indexing all the posts of a specific category of my wordpress site. The problem is that the structure of my URL is composed without /category/: www.site-name.ext/date/post-name/

so without /category-name/ Is possibile to disallow the indexing of all the posts of the category via robots.txt? Using Yoast Plugin I can put the no-index for each post, but I would like to put the no-index (or disallow/) a time for all the post of the category. Thanks in advance for your help and sorry for my english. Mike0 -
HTML Site SEO (NO CMS)
I have got a client site, which is dated (2007) and has not been shifted to any recognised CMS yet. It is HTML based. Is it possible to SEO on such a site? Is it even worth it? If it is possible to do SEO on this, any suggestions will be highly appreciated. Thank you.

No index?
Hi, I have about 600 posts and most of them are not really optimized (some of them are flash photo gallery). Should I do no index them? They are just too many to optimize them. My website is http://www.soobumimphotography.com/ Thank you

Is it ok to point internal links to index.html home page rather than full www
I thought I saw this somewhere on SEOmoz before but I was so busy by the time I got around to work on my SEO on my site, I realized I have this happening and can't recall if it is a problem which takes away from my ranking. If my www.website.com is ranking well but I have internal menu links pointing to www.website.com/index.html instead of www.website.com will that take away from my www.website.com rankings? Should I change all my menu links that point to /index.html to the full website url path www.website.com ?
