If the homepage is sandboxed for a keyword is the whole site sandboxed for that keyword?

If the homepage of a website has been sandboxed for certain keywords does this mean that the whole site is sandboxed for them keywords or just the homepage?
If a new sub-page was created with quality unique content, would it be possible to get that sub-page ranked for the same keywords that have been sandboxed on the homepage?
I have asked many other SEO professionals this same question and nobody really knows for sure. Do you?

The difficulty here in giving a reasonable opinion is we do not have the domain or pages to look at. If we did, we could give educated opinions.
RY.com.au makes a good point if you have pages that are ranking, it is easier to change a page than a domain. It becomes a question of risk/reward. You have to decide. -
You should try the new Page route instead of a new Domain.
The fact that your other webpages are ranking well indicates that the Domain still has decent Domain Authority; it's just the Homepage that got penalized. Trying to ranking for a new webpage is a lot less work than building up a new website.
What is the exact file extension of the Homepage? Is it index.php, index.html or index.htm? You can just change the file extension of the Homepage to a different one and adjust your server settings to reflect that; Google will treat it as a new page.
For example, if the Homepage is "index.html" running on an Apache server. Just change it to "index.htm" and in the .htaccess file add this command:

Hi Robert,
This issue relates to a new client we have just taken on. Their site was ranked at the top for major phrases related to their inductry but due to bad link building techniques by their previous SEO company their homepage got sandboxed.
There are still a lot of their inner pages ranking very well, just not the homepage anymore.
I have tried going through their link profile and submitting removal requests but not many are actually being removed.
I have also tried submitting a reconsideration request but just keep getting a message saying the site still does not conform to Google guidelines.
My thinking is, if a lot of their inner pages are still ranking then maybe I can get a new page ranked for the same phrases that has been sandboxed or do you think it is better to start again with a new clean domain.

The first question would be... does the sandbox exist (still) and if so who is affected and how? There is a ton of info and non info on the subject, but the best I could find from any source I trust was this from Rand a few years ago: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/googles-sandbox-still-exists-exemplified-by-gradercom
Based on Rand's conclusions, the entire domain would be affected and by changing the domain, the problem abates.
Given that today with Panda, Penguin, etc. having their own effect for penalties, I am not sure as to the relevance of the term. My guess is that if you created a new page with unique content that page could rank on its own. The sandbox was more apparent around links than content. If you are having a duplicate (borrowed) content problem that would seem more of a penguin issue.Hope this helps,

Internal pages ranking over the homepage: How to optimise to rank better at Google?
Hi, We have experienced a shift in SERP from internal pages ranking over website homepage for more than a year. Previously website homepages used to rank for the primary keyword like moz.com for "SEO". Now we can see that internal pages like moz.com/learn/seo/what-is-seo been ranking for the primary keyword "SEO". Google is picking up these "what is ABC" pages than the homepage. All our competitor sites are ranking with these internal pages which are about "what is (primary keyword)". We do have the same internal pages "what is....", but this pages is not ranking; only our homepage is ranking. Moreover we dropped more than 15 positions after this shift in SERP. Dublicate Content: Almost samt site on different domains
Hi, I own a couple of casting websites, which I'm at the moment launching "local" copies of all over the world. When I launch my website in a new country, the content is basically allways the same, except the language sometimes changes country for country. The domains will vary, so the sitename would be site.es for Spain, site.sg for Singapore, site.dk for Denmark and so. The websites will also feature diffent jobs (castings) and diffent profiles on the search.pages and so, BUT the more static pages are the same content (About us, The concept, Faq, Create user and so). So my Questions are: Is this something that is bad for Google SEO? The sites are atm NOT linking to each other with language-flags or anything - Should I do this? Basically to tell google that

Is there a way to inform Google on, that these sites should NOT be treated as dublicate content (Canonical tag wont do, since I want the "same" content to be listet on the locally Google sites). Are there any alternative ranking strategies for not a blog site other than on site SEO, speed improvement, building backlinks and social media engagement to improve rankings?
We own a horoscope website and looking for some SEO advice.However most of the websites are blog sites therefore most of the SEO content is about how to rank a blog site better. IE getting new quality content, use anchor text link out etc. However if your site is different by nature it is hard to find good advice on how to rank better in these scenarios. I would like to know if there are alternative ways of increasing rankings apart from the usual strategies of improving social media fan pages, building backlinks and optimising the site speed wise and making it accessible and understandable to crawlers and people too.

Should I remove my keyword meta?
So it's safe to assume keywords are no longer used by SEs in the old fashioned sense to rank sites, but should be keep them as indicators of site content? It's been suggested by some that they're detrimental for two reasons: 1. Your competitors can snoop the keywords you're targeting but mainly... 2. Over-optimisation is the enemy these days! Why would Google read different pages to rank for a keyword?
I have noticed a large drop in a number of keywords in the latest rankings report. I have checked the results on the 'Ranking History Graph' and it appears that Google is reading different pages for the specific keyword and therefore, giving large fluctuations in ranking dependant on the page from week to week. Why would this be happening?

Sudden drop in all (keyword) +widgets keywords, after years of dominating
Google seems to be following up on either Panda 2.xx ..or we just got hit with link devaluation. We lost rankings with most of our keywords, where we were ranked 1,2,3 ..first page for most. Now we have dropped on the first page for competitive keywords, and even some to the seconds page. We haven't changed anything on the site itself...and those ranking over us in some areas have very little quality content, and links. Sites like "keyword.info"..or "keyword-keyword.org", etc. seem to be gaining some of the top spots. This comes years after solidly dominating our niche, and steady traffic. My theory is the latest Google changes are affecting link value, and perhaps we simply got some authority loss...but was wondering if you could shed any light on this issue? Thanks.
