Sudden Ranking Drop
-
One of my clients websites : http://www.renta-vw.co.za experienced a sudden ranking drop on 24/08/2012 for 2 of the Keyword terms :
The 2 terms are :
cheap car hire cape town
cheap car rental cape town.
The site ranked top 3 in Googel.de, Google.com, .co.uk, .nl
I'm not sure if it is just a 'Google Dance' or something else at play? I checked Webmaster tools and did not see any messages from Google...
This is causing a big loss of revenue for my client and after doing extensive analysis, I'm not the wiser as to what the issue is?
Please assit.
Thanks,
Marnus

Is this a recent incremental Penguin Update?
Penguin update happened around April 2012...
if I build more backlinks with anchor text other than my keywords it should help?
Yes.. Build quality links (your brand/URL) from relavent authoritative sites (Link to sites in which your site can benefit the users).
What is the best startegy to build these links ( Social Bookarking, Blogs etc ) as I need it indexed quickly.
I would build a blog on your site and write articles that can benefit specific niche related people. I would find niche related people and build a relationship with them (by adding value), offer them to contribute on my blog and then ask them to share it.
Do you think Google will tell me if I'm penalised if I contact them?
I would not contact Google because they did not send you anything. However I would invest my time in some quality work that can benefit users..
Conclusion:
Give the people what they want and Google will give you to the people.

Many people who were affected by the penguin update did not receive letters in GWT (Google webmaster tools)
The anchor linking profile for http://www.renta-vw.co.za:
http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/anchors?site=www.renta-vw.co.za%2F
Your back linking profile is based on mostly exact keyword phrases, In fact I only found one back link here that is branded or pointing at your URL. This does not look natural, a natural linking profile has more branded keywords/ URL links then exact anchored links.
| cheap car rental cape town | 53 | 78 |
| cheap car hire cape town | 42 | 71 |
| long term car rental cape town | 38 | 60 |
| renta vw | 2 | 3 |For this to look natural "ranta vw" should be first on this list...

My site ranking has dropped in recent 2 weeks ?
I have a quick question to ask you guys,
Technical SEO | | Mustansar
I have my site (www.webuycarstoday.co.uk) It used to rank very well for all my target keywords. But recently all keywords dropped massively. I can't seems to find a good reason of this drop. We have not change anything which may have caused such drop.
Any suggestion or advice to get into the problem. I would appreciate your kind responses.0 -
Eligible To Rank For Few Queries
I can't figure out why this site (www.liveathomeseniors.com) is eligible for so few search queries on Google Webmaster Tools. I know there is a lot of work to be done, but this is my biggest puzzle right now. What am I not seeing? 379 pages are indexed and yet the site is has only been deemed eligible to rank for 3 queries over the past 3 months. Is it all the repetition in the way the content has been structured? I'd appreciate people's thoughts on this. I can't see the forest for the trees. Donna

Major drop in visitor numbers?
Hi I have been working on the following site www.espares.co.nz - it is a parts location service . We have just done a massive redesign and addressed some major issues with duplicate content - which is a work in progress. What I am wondering is have we overlooked something as there has been a sudden drop off on the site visitors since 25 September with a drop of nearly 30% of organic search visits? Would appreciate feedback.

Sudden drop in Google with our top performing keywords
Hi, I'm writing about the sudden drop in our keyword rankings from our site www.activitybreaks.com. Our keywords that have significantly seen a drop have been activity holidays was 8th now 16th Adventure holidays was 15th now 71st We have been listed on the first page for a number of keywords but these has suddenly dropped in the last couple of days. We did receive a notice on the 19th May from Google stating that they detected unnatural links. So we spent a couple of weeks getting the links removed and have re-submitted the site on 11th June. When I go into Google webmaster there is no reply from Google as yet and the links are still showing even though we know they have been removed. We also noticed in the last couple of days that we had a duplicate home page but this has now since been removed. Should we re-submit our site to Google for reconsideration or wait to they get back to us. Is there anything else we can be doing to fix this situation. Let me know if you have any ideas! Anything is appreciated, thanks. Naomi

How do 301 redirects affect rankings?
Scenario: example.com/red-shoes gets 301 redirected to example.com/brown-boots because we have stopped selling red shoes and now only sell brown boots (which is a fairly new page with no authority). the red-shoes page ranked well for "red shoes" and "footwear". Will Google still index and show the red-shoes url in the SERPs? Will the "red shoes" and "footwear" keywords still rank well? Or does the redirected/new boots page need to properly support these keywords? The boots page has inherited the juice from the shoes page, but how does it help the boots page rank well? Only for keywords that both pages targeted, like a general "footwear" type keyword? Thanks in advance!

So I Get An Interior Page To Rank, But Lower. How does that help?
Hi, So, I have a term that would bounce around #3 to 5 for. I make a page some months ago that is solely targeted to that term. And, voila! Google sees the new page as the best result instead of the home page and the new page ranks, but at #9 or #10. Of course the homepage is a stronger page, but the new page is better targeted to that term. Using the handy SEOMoz toolbar, the homepage has a page authority of 59 and the newer interior page has 32. Both are equally functional to my purpose. Part of me just wants to 301 in the interior page to the homepage and forget about it. It would take forever to get that interior page up to a similar page authority through the magic of links. What do you think I should do. I feel like I'm channeling Wile E. Coyote. Thanks! Best...Mike

Google Pake Rank of Zero?
Hi! We've been running our website www.opzeggen.nl for a while now, but we still have a google page rank of 0. Searching for a keyword like 'opzeggen' does give us good ranking however. Should I be worried about this? And if so, is there a way to fix this? Best Regards, Pieter
