Backlinks from SEOMOZ
-
Hi all
It seems Google has stepped up the "hunt" for overly SEOed websites.
What about having backlinks from SEOMOZ, would that signal to Google that you are involved in SEO and therefor it might hurt your site?
Anyone?
Thanks in advance

I'd avoid trying to score links on profiles (including on seomoz) just for the sake of it.
What I would absolutely take is if Rand or any of the writers were to mention any of my sites in passing while discussing a related topic or making a recommendation on something that isn't necessarily SEO.
They do that all the time, and it's the type of links Google loves.
They also often praise sites which are doing content marketing well, like OKCupid for example or those which have a great design or other features.

I think you are mistaking "SEO" websites with "overly optimized" websites. Just because you have a link from an SEO based website - like SEOMoz, doesn't mean you are overly optimizing your site. SEOMoz is a high authority site and the link would be beneficial - of course relevance between the linking site and your site plays a part.
So to clarify - they are going to check your backlink profile to look for signals such as a large amount of competitive keyword anchor text from a variety of sites, a lot of backlinks from sites in spaces that have nothing to do with yours, paid links, etc.

Reciprocal Backlinks
Hi all, We've just started looking into backlinks for our website, and we're...a bit overwhelmed to say at least. We thought the best way to start with backlinks is to reach out to our industry partners, and ask them to put a link to our website on theirs (in a blog, or a relevant page of course), as it's relevant for users. However, the question we almost always get is, can you do the same and link back to our website? How does google look at reciprocal links? We think they can be seen as a 'transaction of links' and not have as much link juice as links which aren't reciprocal. Is there any best practice for how to approach this? Thank you in advance. Diana

Backlinks from missing sites
While combing though spammy backlinks, I'm finding a lot of supposedly "active" links that lead to 404 errors, pages that contain no html, domains for sale, and sites that all have a uniform design which I can't tell if they're web host default pages, or pages using a spammy third-party link aggregator (or both).

For example: http://easyreveal.us/ So, do I disavow missing sites? Lost sites? Is there a drawback to disavowing sites that have been removed? Any help would be appreciated.0 -
Backlinks and SPAM
I was doing some back link review of competitors and I have noticed that many of our competition have 300+ do follow back links from Justia.com and an additional 300+ do follow links from law.cornell.edu (they share the same database). The links on Justia are from different pages and they are all going to the root of our competitors site. So the questions are as follows; 1: For the purpose of SEO is this considered SPAM 2: If not SPAM, then does it have a positive effect on the competitions website and should I attempt to emulate for my client. Thanks in advance. -Jeff

How to identify spammy website before making backlinks on them
Hi, I search in google but didnt find a proper answer for this! maybe search an incorrect keyword! The question is, How can I find out a website that I'm going to make a backlink on is a spammy website? For example I did this guest bloging on this good website: Best Sure-Shot Organic Pest Control Approaches Every Gardener Should Know | Balcony Garden Web But it seems to be spammy because I use SEO POWERSUIT software that shows this backlink is 20% risk of google penalty! Is it right!? So how can we rest assured for making a quality backlink? I can not think any other way 😞

Pr4 domain backlink from a blog post
I'm about to do a guest blog post on a pr4 domain. Will I be getting an actual pr4 backlink? I'm thinking since it's technically not going to be on the homepage forever since it's just a blog post and also a blog post has it's on page once you click on it I'm not going to get a pr4 backlink. Correct?

How long for backlinks to kick in?
Lets say you do a guest post, Google indexes the article which must mean it has found the link back. Would you expect to see movement straight away? Some of my latest guest posts (in the last week) have been indexed but have shown no movement at all, but when I check WMT for links coming in they are not in the list so im guessing they have not taken full effect?
