Hi! This is a really great question. I would highly recommend checking out one of our weekly webinars: http://www.seomoz.org/dp/wednesday-webinar with the Help team. Each week they cover a different topic and show you how to best use our tools. You'll get a chance to ask specific questions and get in-depth information.
Also, we have an extensive Help Hub that has lots of information on how to use the tools, why you should use them, etc. I'd check that out as well: http://www.seomoz.org/help.
I hope this helps get you started down the right path.
Thanks again for asking!

If using Google keyword research tool, one thing that you should definitely do is make sure you have exact match selected. When looking at the search volume for broad matches it often easy to put a lot of energy into something that looks like its a great keyword, but from what I have learned its a better approach to focus on keywords you have selected through exact matching.

Thank you Brian! I am going to read that now.
Hopefully it all makes sense afterwards.

Thank you Ben for your response. I am starting from the ground up so, im scratching my head on how to properly perform "keyword research"? smh...
I know about the google keyword tool, but i need to know how to best utilize the tool.
Thanks again - Nirav

- Do "keyword research" for your local area and industry
- Put those keywords into your SEO Moz Campaign
- Let SEO Moz crawl your site (Takes about a week)
- After SEO Moz has info on your site you can follow the tool tips they provide to get a better understanding of how it will help.
SEO is an ever evolving field and their are alot of things you can only pick up by getting involved in the community, testing, failing, improving, ect.
However SEO Moz is a great community and really helps cut down on the learning curb. If you have any questions feel free to ask me directly on this site, Twitter or Quora.

Your going to need to dig into learning SEO before the tools will be helpful to you. As Brian mentioned. Go to http://www.seomoz.org/beginners-guide-to-seo and read that from beginning to end. This will give you the SEO basics.

Hi Nirav,
Have you read the "Beginner's Guide to SEO," here on the Moz site? It's a valuable step by step plan...
The tools here help you with every stage of the process, from crawl tests to backlink profiles (in Open Site Explorer) among other things. Within the Guide you'll see helpful tips directly related to tool usage.

Do the SEOmoz Campaign Reports follow Robots.txt?
Hello, Do the SEOmoz Campaign Reports (that track errors and warnings for a website) follow rules I write in the robots.txt file? I've done all that I can to fix the legitimate errors with my website, as reported by the fabulous SEOmoz tools. I want to clean up my pages indexed with the search engines so I've written a few rules to exclude content from Wordpress tag URLs for instance. Will my campaign report errors and warnings also drop as a result of this?

Question #3) My last question has to do with Some SEOmoz crawl diagnostics -
I recently fixed (or well, I am asking to make sure that this was the right thing to do in my first question posted a few minutes ago), a problem where all of my internal main sidebar category pages were linking using https://, which to my knowledge means SECURE pages. anyways, OSE, and google seem to be not recognizing the link juice. but my rank fell for one of my main keywords by 2 positions about a week after i made the fix to have the pages be indexable. Making my pages properly linked can't be a bad thing right? That's what I said. So I looked deeper, and my crawl diagnostics reports showed a MASSIVE reduction in warnings (about 3,000 301 redirects were removed by changing the https:// to http:// because all the secure pages were re-directing to http:// regular structure) and an INCREASE, in Duplicate Page Titles, and Temporary redirects... Could that have been the reason the rank dropped? I think I am going to fix all the Duplicate Page Title problems tonight, but still, I am a little confused as to why such a major fix didn't help and appeared to hurt me. I feel like it hurt the rank, not because of what I did, but because what I did caused a few extra re-directs, and opened the doors for the search engine to discover more pages that had problems (which could have triggered an algo that says hey, these people have to much duplicate problems) Any thoughts will be GREATLY appreciated thumbed, thanked, and marked as best answers! Thanks in advance for your time, Tyler A.

Why my seomoz keyword ranking are different to google SERPs
I use Cute Rank to check my keywords ranking in Google, but after last update seomoz is showing some of keyword ranked much higher than Cute Rank. I checked them manually and they are on positions showed by Cute Rank and not by Seomoz. Can someone explain me why is that?

Archiving Campaigns in SEOmoz
First off, I love the campaign archive feature. Very useful for my purposes. My question is: Is there a limit to how many campaigns I can archive? Thanks in advance!

What do I really need
Hello all. I’m new to this SEO stuff and after reading much, remain very, very confused as to what I really need. First, I’ll say I’m here because I have been impressed with the posts and the general professional approach that seem to exist on Seomoz. My problem is that I run a small business that’s not doing so well and I do know that my website needs to be found. With this being the case I contacted an SEO company and on being given a price for 12 months of service, almost feel of my chair as this would clear me out. This, without any guarantee. Due to the above I am now considering having a go at the SEO myself. However, this leads to another problem in that, given it appears I need so many online services, it again becomes very expensive for one man and his single website. I have seen much written about Seomoz, Raven (something I’m trying now), Seospyglass and Seo Powersuite (a few reports appear bad) and between these and other possibly lesser well known brands leaves me wondering what I need to achieve improved website visibility. Does not one product exist that can help the smaller business without breaking the bank, and if not, what might be the best approach to tackle this problems cost effectively. I am aware that Seomoz has it’s followers, but having said this, it appears that a good degree of openness and honesty is provided here. Your comments would be most appreciated.

How does SEOMoz get ranking data? is it automated queries to Google?
Google's terms don't allow automated queries without Google's permission. https://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=66357 How does SEOMoz get ranking data then? Is it sending automated queries with or without Google's permission? is it violating Google's guideline? Will it affect my site performance as far as rankings?

SEOMoz toolbar - Anyone else have problems with Search Profiles?
(Using Firefox 7.0.1) I just downloaded the toolbar and the Custom Search Profiles do not work--clicking on any of them adds "%" and numbers to the search query. I've created a couple of specific locations and I'd really like to get this figured out. Does this function work correctly for anyone? Am I doing something wrong?

SEOMoz Pro and Multiple Niche Sites
Currently I have 15 affiliate marketing sites and three blogs which are monetized. My budget dictates the base pro package so may I get some recommendations on how or if I can do analysis over time for all the sites. I ask this because it seems you would set your campaigns for long-term but I imagine you delete/modify/add campaigns to analyze different key words. Thanks for your help.
