Hey Everyone,
I have been a member of SEOMOZ for about 4 months and love it, it really has helped me out.
my first website I am trying to get well ranked in the new zealand market is
I have chosen:
-
sell online
-
free ecommerce website
-
ecommerce website builder
Are paid links the way forward for me? should I aim for more keywords? should I pay for help?
Just looking for a lttle direction, if someone could help. thanks.

hmm interesting, well I have started laying the foundation for all the blog content which is linked to facebook and i'll link to it on twitter as I complete it and see how that helps.
-
Not at all. Good links from around the world will be of huge value to you.
You will end up fostering a worldwide community. Many people that read your blog and use your information will not be from New Zealand - although your core customers will be. This is often the case with online companies - your community will reach further than your core location.
-
I have been thinking about this, I have a bunch of questions kiwis search for and I am thinking of answering them on my blog
I have looked into my rivals but none of them have done much SEO that I can see, worldwide rivals I could but I am always fearful getting too many links from outside New Zealand would be worse for me?

Paid link would be really risky. Buying links to influence results is against google quality guidelines so you could expect a penalty if caught. It certainly works for some, but you need to know what you are doing as damage caused by such techniques can be very hard to reverse.
I'd start by going back to your keyword research to be honest. Where your site is still very new (in terms of backlinks) I'd be looking to broaden out the number of terms that you are looking to rank for. I'd then ensure that you have pages that target each of those terms, hopefully with content good enough to pick up it's own links.
Link building wise I would probably start by offering up accounts for review from sites that have previously reviewed rival platforms. Referral sign ups should be key in your market anyway, so starting with these will give you a double whammy. I'd do the same to sites that target work from home markets, mummy businesses etc.
**should I pay for help? **
If you have the budget now, then yes. It looks like you have a lot of basics still to cover. Even some consultation time that left you with a solid plan that you could work through yourself would probably be very valuable to you at this stage.

No, do not pay for links - you will be penalised. Start a blog and create content that will help people who may use your service. Think of things like 'How mobile is effecting ecommerce' or 'How to use social media to build loyal customers'.
Once you have a blog and are creating your content then you will begin to see a quick rise in search traffic on your analytics package. Take a look at some of the keywords people are searching to find you and you will see that just having 3 is too low. You will need to constantly update your list of keywords.
There is no harm in paying people for help, as long as you find the right vendor for you. SEOmoz have a great list of recommended companies.

SEO Strategy help
Hi, I run a B2B 3rd party retail ecommerce site and I am kind of stuck on how to implement my SEO strategy.
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | steve45058
So I learned from AdWords data that the best converting words to my site is the (Brand name, Model Number). Many of my B2B customers already know what they want/are looking for. Now this is all fine and dandy for adwords, but I don't really know how to implement this strategy on the SEO side. I do rank decent for some of these product keywords, but 99% of them I do not (which confuses me because some of the brands I rank high for are the more popular brands eg. more competition.) When I do keyword research on SEMRush or another site, it tells me that the competition for this type of keyword strategy is extremely high. Any Help, Advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!1 -
Whats the best way to structure my site?
Hi All, Hope everyone is well. I have a hypothetical and would love some experts advice. For a product like a corporate credit card what's the best URL structure to get the most out of SEO. Assuming the Page Title is Corporate Credit Card (unless this isnt the best idea? However the product is called the "corporate credit card" ). The reason this is trickier than I thought is because they say the rule of thumb is to use the plural of everything for best SEO. However I have pluralized the sub page "credit cards". www.website.com.au/products/credit-cards/corporate 2) www.website.com.au/products/credit-cards/corporate-credit-card 3) www.website.com.au/products/credit-cards/corporate-credit-cards If someone were to search for corporate credit cards would option 1&2 show up correctly? Would moz rank this as an "F" ? Thanks everyone! Dave

SEO direction - help needed
Hi, I've been working on a site for about 5 years. We built the traffic up to about 8k visitors/day. Although now it's dropped down over the past 2 years to about 2k visitors a day. New traffic source is mainly from SEO longtail. The whole time we have been working to improve the site. What's the best way to get some help from experts on the right direction to get traffic back up or to at least tell me the site will never work 🙂 Thanks in advance. M

E-commerce store, in need of protecting our own content
Dear other Moz fans, We have an E-commerce store in Norway. Our main conversion to sale still happens in our physical store, but do to the description and information we provide online.
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | Monica_Flirt
To warn you before you click; Our store is a boutique for "erotic items". A nice one how ever, made buy woman for woman and their man. We use enormous time writing descriptions and information for (almost) every item online.
We really want to protect our content (text information). What is the best practice to mark up "protection" of our hard work content? Thank you for your time.
Regards form the Flirt girls in Norway.0 -
Need your thoughts on my site
Hi, This is my site: http://hemorrhoidssuccess.com/ I have got some decent natural links with a mix of different anchor texts. My main keyword is "Hemorrhoids Treatment", And i got very less exact match anchor texts. Now i was able to rank for "Top Hemorrhoid Treatment" on #2 Page, but i was not in the index for the my main keyword "Hemorrhoids Treatment". Can you review my site and let me know, what i am missing? Do i need to get more links? If so with what anchor texts? Will be waiting for your replies.. Thanks in Advance

Confirmation Needed: Do any search engine crawlers accept cookies?
I'm looking for confirmation here. Do any search engine crawlers accept cookies? I thought that the answer was always no, but we're looking in our weblogs and seeing some odd behavior.
