Temporary Redirect
-
I am having lot of Temporary Redirect on my reports, and all the links points to my ads server (openX).
like this:
http://ads.espectador.com/mod2/www/delivery/ck.php?n=a04fb31e&cb=138097
Here in this page there is an example.-
How can I fix this?
Thanks

I have done that.
Lets see what happens next week...
Thanks

If you can keep doing it manually, then that's what I would suggest. If you want to try the robots.txt route, try putting the following code in the robots.txt file in the ads.espectador.com root -
User-agent: *
Disallow: /Here's a helpful blog post with more details - http://www.seomoz.org/blog/robot-access-indexation-restriction-techniques-avoiding-conflicts

I am doing manually for now, but if I use robots.txt and my site is www.espectador.com and my ads url is ads.espectador.com
Where shall I put the robots.txt telling not to follow that address? in the root of espectador.com site or in the ads.espectador.com root?
Thanks again
-
Yes, you should add the nofollow tag to each ad that has the 302 redirect. Or if you have a lot of ads where it's not feasible to manually add the nofollow tag, you could just use robots.txt to tell the search engines/OSE not to follow them.
I also found this forum post which may have a macro solution - http://forum.openx.org/index.php?showtopic=503507808.
You can create html banners and set this value through those.
Create a banner. choose "generic html" as the type.
Put html in the banner area. This will be something like -
Every href in that page is a different ad, so I can add this rel nofollow at the end of every a href
[Is this a solution?
Or I can do something more macro and not for every ad?
Thanks again](http://ads.espectador.com/mod2/www/delivery/ck.php?n=a9cc3ec6&cb=48573945309999345793845)

In the seomoz recomendation I have this:
Temporary Redirect
Found 2 days ago
<dl style="color: #5e5e5e; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; line-height: normal;">
<dt>Redirects to</dt>
<dd>http://ads.espectador.com/mod2/www/delivery/ck.php?ct=1&n=a04fb31e&cb=138097</dd>
<dt>Description</dt>
<dd>Using HTTP header refreshes, 302, 303 or 307 redirects will cause search engine crawlers to treat the redirect as temporary and not pass any link juice (ranking power). We highly recommend that you replace temporary redirects with 301 redirects.</dd>
</dl>
<a class="more expanded">Minimize</a>
How can I do that if all this urls are different? (for each ad campaign)

I can't access your report, but generally there is no problem using temporary redirects for your ads server. I would just suggest putting nofollow on your openX links so search engines/OSE don't try to crawl them and you'll stop getting the errors in your reports.

Should I add canonical links to pages that are redirected?
Hello! I am a little confused concerning canonical links. I have several URLs that all access my page, but I redirect them all. A lot of places I am told to redirect them or use canonicals. Other places, I read that I should always use canonicals. What is the right way for me? If I should use canonicals as well as redirects, which links should I do this on? I redirect my pages like this: http to https:

https://www.example.com -> https://example.com Remove trailing slashes
https://example.com/ -> https://example.com Would-be 404-requests to index.php?p=$1
https://example.com/home -> https://example.com/index.php?p=home ( show as https://example.com/home ) Example:

Do permanent redirect solve the issue of duplicate content?
Hi, I have a product page on my site as below. www.mysite.com/Main-category/SubCatagory/product-page.html This page was accessible in both ways as below. 1. www.mysite.com/Main-category/SubCatagory/product-page.html 2. www.mysite.com/Main-category/product-page.html This was causing duplicate title issue. So i permanently redirected one to other. But after more than a month and after many crawls, webmaster tools html improvement still shows duplicate title issue. My question is that do permanent redirect solve duplicate content issue or something i am missing here?

How long keep 301 redirects?
Our site has been updated twice in the past 6 years with new, better urls. Initially we did 301 redirects 3 years ago for the url redirects. Recently some of those redirected pages have been redirected again. Question: How long before it's time to have the old, original urls removed through Google? And, once that is done, how long to wait before removing the older redirects from the htaccess file? Appreciate any feedback/insights on this matter.

.htaccess redirect chains
At item 4 in the post at http://moz.com/blog/htaccess-file-snippets-for-seos the author recommends combining .htaccess redirects to avoid chaining redirects. I'd be obliged if someone could expand on: 1. What he means by chained redirects 2. How to combine the redirects per his recommendation Cheers.

Should we consider redirecting a high ranking subdomain page to our homepage?
My site bluecotton.com sells custom printed t-shirts. Our DA is 46. Our homepage is PA 55. The design studio is where users create their designs. Over the years the design studio has received a lot of fan fair including links from gizmodo and adobe. When I rank against our biggest competitors customink, ooshirts, uberprints.com I find that our domain as a whole doesn't look all that great. However, when I look at the history of our subdomain I see that we are more trusted and credible than all of our competitors. We have 10k links pointing to the design studio. Here is my question. What if I did 301 redirect of bluecotton.com/studio.html to bluecotton.com? Then I created a new url for the DS. This would not cause users any problems. In fact for many they would get more context around what we are trying to do and what we offer. Is this crazy? I never find results in google for the design studio. It always shows our home. That is pretty much what happens to all of our competitors on the higher traffic terms that are driving real sales. So why do i ask? If my subdomain is more valuable becuase of the design studio links then I wonder if I redirected it to the homepage if it would supercharge my homepage and propel is forward in the serps. Thoughts?

Hi . I have a question regarding a surge in 302 temporary direct errors following reactivation of my site reviews.
Hi. i submitted the following question to the support team at volusion regarding a large number of 302 temporary redirects on the SEOMOZ crawl of following the reactivation of product reviews on my website. Here is the question and their response. Any opinions. Thanks TRANSCRIPT: Hi Howard, Looking at the link you have referenced, this page is unable to be accessed unless you are logged into your site, so SEO isn't applicable for the page. We would not be able to change the 302 redirect for this page. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions. Thanks,

Here for you 24x7x365 Volusion Support Check out our online support: http://support.volusion.com | 4 days ago (102hrs ago) [8/19/2012 10:06:00 AM] by Customer | | Hi . I had a report of 302 temporary redirects when SEO moz did a simulated site crawl. This is an example of the address of one of the many 302 temporary redirect errors which I think consume link juice or have some type of negative effect on SEO. http://www.mrgrabbar.com/reviewhelpful.asp?ProductCode=GT100&ID=562&yes=yes Since it is a live link I cannot seem to redirect it with a 301 redirect in the redirect manager. Is there anything I can do to handle these temporary redirects. They only are appearing now since I reactivated my reviews and I am concerned about the SEO effect that this may soon have.0 -
What does this mean on first step up setting up a campaign? "Having two "twin" domains that both resolve forces them to battle for SERP positions, making your SEO efforts less effective. We suggest redirecting one, then entering the other here."
I am BRAND new to this, and setting up my first campaign. I choose subdomain, and entered www.pdsaz.com. This is the message I receive: We have detected that the domain www.pdsaz.com and the domain pdsaz.com both respond to web requests and do not redirect. Having two "twin" domains that both resolve forces them to battle for SERP positions, making your SEO efforts less effective. We suggest redirecting one, then entering the other here.

How do you create a 301 redirect for www.mysite..com/index.html in htaccess.
I understand that it is possible to create a 301 redirect for www.mysite..com/index.html to www.mysite.com. (as well as subdirectories.) How is this accomplished? My hosting company says that setting this up in htaccess will cause "Apache to geti into an infinite loop and the page won’t load." I have read on the forum that this is possible. Any help would be greatly appreaciated. THanks. Perri
