SEO ANALYSIS ON A NEW SITE
-
Hi just would like if anyone could help me in provide some seo analysis on a new website http://www.ppilegalservices.co.uk/
main keyword is mis-sold ppi
Its a very competitive keyword but not being able to come on google result in long tail keywords as well, Just got ranked on brand keywords like PPI LEGAL Services.
Also running out of ideas as to how to create quality content any tips please?
many thanks

Thanks Keri,
for your answer , its a completely new domain, and hardly done any backlinks , was just working on some infographics and content.

Hi Marcus,
Thanks for taking the time to answer my question in detail.

Hey
Yeah, I have to second what Keri says here. This is crazy competitive so you are not going to rank a new site for these terms overnight.
The site itself has no domain authority, there is no useful or interesting content and I can't see that any of the blog posts have won any
Content wise, if this was me, I would probably look to provide the best guide on how to reclaim your PPI for free and use that to pull in links but even that would be problematic as the moneysavingexpert site (a big brand in the UK) has already done that so you are fighting a bit of a losing battle.
If we discount the money saving expert site we have several other heavy hitting domains:
Then, amongst them we have some other PPI sites but looking at the link profiles, we are talking 15,000 linking sites in some cases. Now, obviously, most of that is going to be low quality but that is what you are up against here.
So, only way to do this white hat is to go after really long tail, dig into the keywords, look at PPI for specific vendors, types of loans etc and start to build some really strong content and promote it as best as possible.
For starters, look at some of the suggested searches:
- mis sold ppi calculator
- mis sold ppi template letter
- reclaim ppi
- ppi refunds
- mis sold ppi barclays
- mis sold ppi scams
- mis sold ppi reasons
- mis sold ppi hsbc
Maybe take one of those and break them down even further so mis sold ppi hsbc
- mis sold ppi hsbc loan
- mis sold ppi hsbc credit car
- dhsbc ppi claims
- hsbc ppi refunds
- hsbc ppi reclaim
- hsbc loans ppi
- hsbc fined ppi
- hsbc ppi credit card
If we break one of them down even further we get even more ideas:
Searches related to mis sold ppi hsbc credit card
- is there ppi on hsbc credit card
- shsbc credit card ppi claim address
- payment protection insurance hsbc credit card
- hsbc credit card ppi reclaim
- hsbc mis sold payment protection
- hsbc payment protection insurance mis sold
- hsbc personal loan ppi
- hsbc mis selling ppi
You could probably go deeper still
There is always a way, but you are just not going to drop into a market like this and shoot to the top of the deck but if you could lay down a 12 month strategy to have the most generally helpful PPI blog out there and cover every minute detail starting at the long tail then you could create something that would outrank the mostly spam based strategies of the few PPI companies on the first page.
Hope this helps
Marcus

A quick look in OSE shows a bunch of backlinks of low quality that appear to have been removed, and nothing of quality. Was there a site on this domain before your site?
It looks like that's a real competitive term in the UK. What I'd do is look at the top ten sites and ask myself "what content can I put together that will beat out the content that's on the top sites?" Most of the sites I see are one page lead generation forms. It's going to be tough to make a name for yourself with all of that junk out there.
Can you do something like http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance where you have a lot of good, quality content? This will make it useful for the users, give people a reason to link to you, and give you great long-tail content.

Any SEO disadvantages with creating pages under a directory page which doesn't exists?
Hi, Let's say we are going to create pages in the URL path www.website.com/directory/sub-pages/. In case this page www.website.com/directory/ doesn't exists or redirected; will the pages created in this URL path like stated above have any issues in-terms of SEO? We will link these pages from somewhere in the website and planning to redirect the /directory/ to homepage. Suggestions please.

38% of SEOs Never Disavow Links: Are you one among them or the other 62%?
Hi all, Links disavowing is such a advanced tasks in SEO with decent amount of risk involved. I thought many wouldn't follow use this method as Google been saying that they try to ignore bad links and there will be no penalty for such bad links and negative SEO is really a rare case. But I wondered to see only 38% SEOs never used this method and other 62% are disavowing links monthly, quarterly or yearly. I just wonder do we need to disavow links now? It's very easy to say to disavow a link which is not good but difficult to conclude them whether they are hurting already or we will get hurt once they been disavowed. Thanks Screenshot_3.jpg

Is Having Content 'Above The Fold' Still Relevant for Website Design and SEO
Hey there, So I have a client who recently 're-skinned' their website and now there is little to no content above the fold. Likewise, I've noticed that since the transition to this new front-end design there has been a drop in rankings for a number of keywords related to one of the topics we are targeting. Is there any correlation here? Is having content 'above the fold' still a relevant factor in determining a websites' searchability? I appreciate you reading and look forward to hearing from all of you. Have a great day!

Https slower site Versus Non https faster site??
Hey all, I know that everyone is going on about https as a ranking signal (as far as I read it is not a very important ranking signal, but a low ranking signal) but Site speed is a ranking signal https is now a ranking signal as well https makes sites slower So in view of the above, what's better? An https site that is slower A non https site that is faster Thanks!

Staging site - Treated as duplicate?
Last week (exactly 8 days ago to be precise) my developer created a staging/test site to test some new features. The staging site duplicated the entire existing site on the same server. To explain this better -My site address is - www.mysite.com The path of the new staging site was www.mysite/staging I realized this only today and have immediately restricted robot text and put a no index no follow on the entire duplicate server folder but I am sure that Google would have indexed the duplicate content by now? So far I do not see any significant drop in traffic but should I be worried? and what if anything can I do at this stage?

How to Link a Network of Sites w/o Penguin Penalties (header links)
I work for a network of sites that offer up country exclusive content. The content for the US will be different than Canada, Australia, Uk, etc.… but with the same subjects. Now to make navigation easy we have included in the header of every page a drop down that has links to the other countries, like what most of you do with facebook/twitter buttons. Now every page on every site has the same link, with the same anchor text. Example: Penguins in Canada Penguins in Australia Penguins in the USA Because every page of every site has the same links (it's in the header) the "links containing this anchor text" ratio is through the roof in Open Site Explorer. Do you think this would be a reason for penguin penalization? If you think this would hurt you, what would you suggest? no follow links? Remove the links entirely and create a single page of links? other suggestions?
