How do i get a description in my google local listing
-
My site is listed in the serps at number one but where google used to list the name of my site with the meta description below it, now Google lists my site title with my address to the right side and below it says Google+page instead of listing my meta description which had my key search phrase in it and also a call to action to see my video on my site. My click through was much better with the meta description below it and the call to action. is there any way i can get the description back under my title in the serps? Maybe by deleting my Google + page?
Thanks in advance,
Ron

Hi Ron,
What you are seeing here is just Google's current choice of display. If you search for 'Austin Restaurants' you will see all of the restaurants in your area being displayed in the same manner you have cited. Don't worry about this, and don't be surprised if Google changes their display layout again soon. They are always tweaking the information they choose to display in the local listings, so we all have to roll with the punches (and try to smile while doing so )
Hope this helps to know you've not been singled out!

As suspected, it shows when you click on "more results near" and then the result you see if being pulled from your website, rather than G+ page.
Why is isn't showing on the front page I am unsure, but most I see tend not to, only when you click for more.

Hi Andy! My website is the thegrooves.net and if you type in austin bands, my austin bands page comes up number one.

I think I see where you are going with this now Ron.
The descriptions that you see are from the website, rather than G+ page - I have just tested this with a few searches myself and that is what I have found.
If you want to share a search where I can find you, I will take a look.

Hi Andy! Yes, i own the local page. I just took another look at it and it links to three different websites that have rave reviews on my business so i don't think i want to delete it. Is there a way to put a description on my google plus page so that google will add that description to the serps? I have already filled out the "from the owner" description so i think i'm dead in the water on this until google changes their algorhythm to list my meta description again.

Hi Ron,
Daft question perhaps, but have you taken ownership of the Google Local page so you can edit it? perhaps post a link so I can take a look?

I can get hundreds of natural links from real estate agent sites, but should I?
I have a website that generate leads for real estate agents nationwide. I have an auto email that sends out the referral agreement and in the email I ask them to place a link to our website on their site somewhere to be a part of the program. I can get as many as 10-15 links in a few hours in every major city in the U.S. Most realtor websites have websites that are new, or haven't posted blogs and have a Moz domain score of 1 and trust score of 1. I have been thinking of only selecting websites with descent Moz rankings instead of having all agents link to me, even ones with a low moz score. Is it a bad idea to get a bunch of links from legitimate websites that have low Moz scores?

Google Analytics Tracking Miscount - Originating Around 5/24
Is anyone else experiencing an issue where it seems GA failed to track many of their visitors? This is why I think it's something on GA's end and not mine (and not natural): 1. No changes were made, site wasn't down, tracking code is correct and is "receiving data" 2. Referral, Direct and Organic traffic all dropped at about the same decline over the same period *3. Pinterest Analytics shows me being sent over 10 times more traffic every day than GA shows me actually receiving. In the screenshot, Pinterest shows 584 uniques while GA shows 43 for Sunday. I figure if something was broken, I wouldn't be showing ANY traffic and if it was natural, it wouldn't have happened on the same decline across all traffic mediums and Pinterest Analytics wouldn't be so far off. I saw a few people mentioning similar things on Google's forums and wanted to ask you guys if anyone noticed any issues? y8XAvwz.png pRsRAmK.png

Penguin 2.0 Update - Just Hit - Google Messes up again, can anyone on SEOMOZ please tell me why or how some of these websites are ranking?
I am getting a bit tired now writing all of this so please excuse grammar and spelling mistakes, I wanted to post this up quickly tonight so I could possibly get some feedback by morning. So I feel I figured out some of the new update that just hit and I am sure the update will continue to keep coming and rankings will most likely change for a while, but I do have a few questions in the mean time if they stay. Please look below, why would some of those sites be ranking? Some sites utilize no onpage SEO, some no backlinks, one of the sites is a single page site and every page is a broken link even the contact us page and it's rank 1..... I am not 100% sure that Google got this one right. I see many instances below where other sites are much higher quality and have more authority. It's as if Google took terrible sites and said here is a site for you, now deal with it and I hope it works out at the top. I do see several sites that belong on the first page, but I see others that are very questionable. This is how the following is written below. Before the url is the anchor text density % for the site. This indicates the percentage of the amount of times the anchor text was backlined versus other anchor texts they used. Issues with the sites. Most of these sites don't utilize onpage SEO and it's clearly not a factor for onpage density purposes, there is a site with 37% keyword density on it. Some sites even have broken links. Please note: I already know that there is a lot of data that is analyzed to determine rankings more than this, but PA/DA is suppose to be a major factor according to everyone that believes in SEOMOZ.org. So I am taking in account for many of those factors being calculated due to this. These are just some random keywords I picked, because I know you need to analyze other SEO firms after and update to figure out what lasted and what didn't. All of my sites lasted due to ethical tactics, but I had some rankings move down and others go up, very odd. The onpage SEO is sloppy and the writing looks forced. Why is this even ranking? The site also looks low quality. The density is higher than SEOMOZ even and it has less words. In this case DA + words carried this site up, not the anchor ratio being low. 6.17% http://www.cheapseo-services.com cheap seo Page Authority DA 28 -- PA 38 276 Words No onpage, 35 duplicate pages, free template, etc.. etc.. 10% www.seomoz.org/blog/how-to-do-seo-cheap DA 94 --- PA 56 only 5 anchor texts used on this page. 8651 Words I am willing to bet if you diversified this with about 5 more anchor texts this could be number 1 easy. Email marketing - ready to get serious about this
Ok, I have my PILE of business cards from Chamber of Commerce meetings and different networking events I have attended. I have 8-10 blogs that are worth sharing on my website - www.sawwebmarketing.com (I realize that's a pathetically low number) I am committing to and excited about blogging MUCH more starting today! I have a huge list of ideas. I am adding a signup to my site and putting up a pop up to collect addresses. I have 15-18 clients that are paying me for ongoing seo / Internet marketing (or simply had my team build a new site for them) AND AN ACCOUNT WITH AWEBER I HAVE USED ONCE! 🙂 Where do I start!? Any advice? I want to start building a LIST of subscribers and grow my list by sharing great advice, strategies and tips to help people put their website to work. A) Send one email to EVERYBODY (ongoing clients, past clients, contacts who subscribe, website visitors, blog subscribers) or customize my messages for different groups? B) Put whatever I want to share on my blog and share it via social media AND send an email to my list inviting them to check out what I posted so I get the most bang for my time? (LINKS BABY!) I feel like an idiot I haven't got on this sooner but truly ANY ADVICE from somebody who has been there and done it would be GREATLY APPRECIATED! 🙂 Thank you! Am I getting traction, spinning my wheels, or just spinning in circles?
My story: recently "promoted" to creating our marketing department and efforts despite lack of expertise; new to SEO as a daily/weekly task; focusing a lot of effort polishing current webpage (redesigned last year); Hit most of the low hanging fruit in "Beginners Guide"; asked enough questions to know that now I need to focus on content at this point. My conundrum: There is **so **much information out there about SEO, that keeping focus on the tasks at hand is incredibly difficult. KPIs, Trends, Research everything I read serves to derail me from what might be my most critical tasks (content creation?) SEO is like my business (solar), you need to be as site specific in your design and install as possible, but only generalized information is available to the novice. My questions for you experienced SEOs: how do you keep focus? How do know that the project you're focusing on is the right one? Do y'all know of a resource for consultation/advising to look at my initial efforts so someone can help me navigate and gain perspective? I'm not looking for someone to solve my problems (although that would be nice), but more of a "grade" (ie-less of this, more of that, nice work here, try again over there) Thanks folks, any and all help is appreciated.

http://www.google.com/search?q=jimbaran+villa
My site just dropped out of the rankings completely. But if you look at the Google search above you will notice 2 things:
1. First page: 75% of space above the fold is dedicated to Google making money
2. Subsequent pages: It is like you don't actually search "Google" If you flip through a few pages what you actually search is:
agoda.com
flipkey.com
tripadvisor.com
homeaway.com Do I have a point or am I simply having a cynical day?1 -
Why Does OSE (Open Site Explorer) have such little backlink data on russian sites in the google.ru index?
OK this seems v strange, but google.ru are indexing far more BLs in their SERPS for a widget than OSE reports. Very little data is found in OSE for russian based sites. Is this the marketing intention? (I could send raw data if needed!) What is filtering this vast google.ru data list out? Is OSE only catered for US/UK?
